Yung lover's bridge pa. Sikat din yun sa mga taiwanese dramas. Also want to see the Sun Moon River Lake side -- twice ko na siya nakitang i feature sa mga drama.

yes sis wuvshoe ok lang kahit naka-chinese...basta pictures lang naman ako...:-) marami rin palang mapupuntahan diyan...di kasi ako familiar sa taiwanese drama, kaya ang naalala ko lang eh yung tower...:-) imagine ang napanood ko lang yata na taiwanese eh yung meteor garden...yun lang nga...more on korean kasi ako...:-)

pero baka mag-pass kami ng taiwan for next year, kasi sunod-sunod na puro chinese/buddhist temples ang pinuntahan namin na mga bansa for the past 2 years...nakakasawa rin pala yun...:-)

teka yung taipei zoo ba nila parang katulad ng sa singapore zoo?

sis yby2476, oo madami nga dung mags na may Korean Stars/Idols, nakabili din ako dun nung pumunta ko (Super Junior Mags), yun lang nga written in Chinese, pero like you ang habol ko din yung mga pics

^:-) kasi sis ang hirap maghanap ng trendy magazine sa hk eh...:-) pero besides the tdramas and kpop magazines ko, gusto ko rin ma-explore ang taiwan...kahit sabi ng isang student ng mama ko, wala naman daw masyadong makikita...eh sabi ko, baka hinde naman sila lumibot ng husto...:-)

just got back yesterday from taiwan. first impression namin ongpin manila ang dating (mas malinis nga lang syempre). suuupppeeerrr daming food kahit saan ka magpunta hindi ka magugutom and of all chinese countries na napuntahan ko (china, hk and taiwan) dito may pinaka yummy na food. nakakatuwa rin kasi doon pala nauso yang mga tea drinks yung parang chatime. kahit saan ako magpunta eh puro tea talaga inumin. i'm impressed din with their creativity sa street foods nila. kakaiba.

must try for me:
ice-cream : since mahilig ako sa ice cream super nag enjoy ako sa ice cream nila dito. meron dito yung nasa cone na ice cream tapos super taas niya. yung parang softy ice cream dito satin pero ang taas ng ice cream lol  meron pa yung nakabalot sa lumpia wrapper with crushed peanuts. yum! pinakalove ko sa lahat is yung isang ice cream we bought sa isang night market. hindi ko alam tawag eh. pero meron siya mga pearl sago na toppings. kakaiba. super lambot niya kainin. eto yung mamimiss ko sa taiwan

chiang kai shek memorial - nag enjoy ako doon sa parang museum niya. meron doon parang mannequin pero tao sila gumagalaw nasa loob sila ng glass. he looked at me tinuro niya ko parang nag signal siya na "i'm watching you"  then nag wave ako, nag thumbs up siya. nung paalis na ko nag wave ulit ako for goodbye, nagwave din siya. lol super cute 

night markets - nag enjoy din ako dito lalo na sa food. out of all places i've been, dito ako madaming nabili talaga. meron din shopping sa mga malls. natuwa naman ako kasi cheaper yung mac lipsticks nila ng 200php kaya napabili ako ng 2.

overall super fun yung stay ko sa taiwan for one week. ganda rin ng weather nung pumunta kami. medyo malamig kaya madaming napuntahan unlike pag mainit. nice din yung mga tao. napagkakamalan kaming tiga hk and singapore. minsan nag aask pa samin ng directions sagot ko nalang "wo bu shi taiwan ren"

yes sis, yung chatime is from taiwan yata...or rather yung concept ng mga tea milk na nagsulputon dito sa manila eh galing sa taiwan nga...:-)

super lamig ba pag january? do i need to bring coats? and sis aside from miyi meron pabang ibang hotels na mura malipt sa mrt ka marecommend?? TIA

^January is the coldest month here, sis - you need to bring coats talaga because Taiwan has no heating system so sumusunod yung lamig even inside malls/train stations. And it also rains a lot~
There are a lot of hotels/hostels/motels here, but I can only recommend Miyi because I've stayed there. I know people who've tried Rainbow Hotel, Keymans Hotel and YMCA - all near MRTs as well. I've tried a cheap guesthouse: http://www.taiwanmex.com/ - it was okay rin... the owner was really nice and walking distance to Zhongshan MRT

we stayed at see you hotel which is near Z10 exit of MRT and West Bus Station.. I like the room... malinis and mabango.. mas maganda location ceasars kase tapat mismo ng mrt..

Sarap ng mga food sa night market tapos super mura pa... sarap balik balikan..

tabi tabi halos mga milk tea shops.. di ka mapapagod maghanap.

^hi sis madaling araw din yung dating namin may bus pa naman nung time na yun. 1:15 ata nung nakasakay kami ng bus.

we stayed sa ymca. so-so lang siya. malinis naman but luma yung rooms niya. wala ring peepholes yung doors then de susi parin mga rooms. but overall pleasant naman stay namin. madami ring street foods sa vicinity ng hotel. malapit din sa m8 mrt station

just got back from taipei. such a gastronomical experience! before i went there i searched on the net for the popular and must-try restaurants. staple na ang din tai fung but i also tried the ff:

kao chi - food is similar to din tai fung (minus the long lines)
tu hsiao yueh - for tan tsai or danzi noodles
yong kang beef noodles - won 1st place for beef noodle soup championship 2010
modern toilet - concept restaurant but food is so-so, nothing special
yonghe world soymilk magnate - soymilk and shaobing breakfast (go here since this is the original, it's along yonghe st)

we went to shilin night market for the food - tried stinky tofu and oyster omelet. sorry not really a fan of the stinky tofu not because it is stinky but it's not really that good. the omelet is nice though.

grabe we tried almost all of taiwan's specialty! so happy tummy!

i booked a half-day tour of taipei via citydiscovery.com. we don't want to commute na kase and wanted the convenience of a guided tour. but touring taipei is quite easy because of their transpo system (very efficient much like HK and SG). ang init lang! super init! around 32 degrees!

we stayed at miyi hotel which is a delight! so close to the taipei main station, 200m walk. we got the economy room which is kinda small but it served its purpose. i think the hotel was newly renovated? the rooms look modern and the furnishings are still clean.

i'm so gald there's an Ikea in Taipei! we went here also.

we went to ximending for modern toilet. it was fun in that area. it's like shibuya district of japan. tambayan ng youth of taiwan.

for din tai fung - can't go wrong with this one although you have to wait to be seated. at least 30 min waiting time. worth the wait that we ate here twice. we went at their taipe 101 branch and at their original branch in yongkang.

overall, i'm happy with my taipei vacay. thanks again to sis wuvshoe and esor for answering my queries!

I will have an 8-hour layover in Taipei come December. Ang tagal but I thought of making the most of it by (window) shopping and eating na lang.

Are there a LOT of cosmetics and perfumes sa Duty Free nila? How about restos? What resto will you recommend na masarap kumain ng authentic food nila and which stuff to order na rin?

I am very much looking forward to their milk teas, mochis and pineapple cake.

I've chosen Taiwan as my destination for my first ever solo trip!  Nasa things to do ko kasi ang solo travel before I get married (Feb 2012).  What is the weather during December?  Same din ba as the weather in HK?

And safe ba ang Taiwan for solo travellers?  I've been to China and practically all Asean countries, US and UAE so sanay naman ako magtravel, but this will be my first time alone so I dont know what to expect.
