yes papa ko may ganitong sakit.  nag start to last 2009.

Si Mama ko....

Sad kasi ang mama ko dati ang strong figure sa family namin.  Andun sya sa stage na paulit ulit sya ng sinasabi.  Hanggang ngayon lakwatsera si Mama matigas ang ulo.  Ilang beses na syang nawalan ng alahas at ng cellphone.  SUmungit din sya, Understandign talaga ang kailangan although sa totoo lang minsan nakakasagad sa pacencya lalo na pag feeling nya inaapi sya...pag pinagsasabihan sya na wag na sya maglalabas ng walang kasama.  mag seself pity sya at sasabihin na porke wala na syang silbi haisst.

Mama is 68 yrs old and Dad is 75 yrs old

yung lola ko before she died. Mahirap pero sakyan mo lang. wag na wag mong kokontrahin kasi magcclash kayo.

Nung una.. mejo madalas lang makalimot ng mga bagay, saan niya ilagay, anong date na ba, anong gagawin niya.. eventually yung mga kwento naglalabo labo na.

She was very good in playing the organ, halo halo na din yung tinutugtog niya.

tas meron siyang mga specific na memories na lagi niyang kinekwento. Na bata pa siya nangyari. Nagmamano sa anak niya, di na marecognize ang mga apo.

Sumungit din, pero most of the time tahimik naman siya.

Naalala ko tuloy yung lola ko nung nabubuhay pa, may slight alzheimer na sya when she reached 75 years old. She died in her 80's.
isa sa naremember ko, medyo wala ng time frame sa utak nya.Like for example, My lola has been claiming na, na yung auntie/lola  ko daw (her very much younger cousin) ay teacher nya ynung high school. Then, natatamad na rin syang mamasyal or manood ng tv. Di na rin nya marecognize yung iba nyang kamag anak. Pati kaming mga apo nya, she has trouble na remembering our names. But yung mga episodes sa buhay nya nung bata pa sya ay klaro.

Love and understanding na need ng mga lola natin or parents pag nagkaganito sila. And we always talk to her na lang para at least maaliw sya.

i hope maraming mag post sa thread na ito regarding dementia...my mother too is suffering from it...ang mga previous na nakaregister sa utak nya nung wala pa syang dementia, un ang natatandaan nya.  however, un mga recent na information or day to day activities un ang madali nyang malimutan...

My lola (who's 89 years old) is suffering from Alzheimers naman. We didn't know that she's suffering from this until September 2011. Kala naman forgetful nalang talaga sya due to age but during one hospital vacation, nadiagnose sya with yun nga alzheimers. While at the hospital she would remove the dextrose on her own and not mind the blood rushing to the tubes. Basta gusto nya umuwi. Then she would demand we wheel her out of the room to the door and she'll hail a cab going somewhere. Maraming beses nya kaming tinarayan to the point nageeskandalo na sya sa room nya. Yung sigaw rinig hanggang corridor. There wer medicines prescribed and nakatulong naman actually. But kapag nakakalimutan sya painumin, she would turn wild again. Meron time inakyat nya yung gate namin kasi gusto daw nya pumunta sa Grace Park to buy something. Syempre ayaw namin kasi di na nya kaya. She used to go on her own sa States pero thats States. Iba ang treatment dun sa mga matatanda.

At first sobrang naaawa talaga ako and di ko alam pano sya lalapitan. Kasi lagi nakasigaw and masungit talaga. Pero syempre, wala naman kami magagawa kundi tanggapin nalang and isupport nalang sya sa mga gamot nya. Also, double time kami sa pagbabantay, naka diaper na rin sya kasi nalilimutan na nya when sya naiihi or napupupu.

Saan ba nagpapatingin pag ganito mga sis.. My friend kasi is so forgetful.. Ng college kami we treated it as a joke pero ngayong lumalala, seryoso na siya and it's mo laughing matter.. Hindi naman namin alam saan siya pwede magpatingin

This is a serious illness here in America, 6th leading causes of death, the brain shrink until part of it doesn't function well causing them not to remember things from the past or don't know what they're doing, depends on which part is affected, patience is the key to take care of this population...

May support group sa fb philippine alzheimer's support group. Pwede mag share ng experiences. Wala kasing ibanh group dito sa pinas na pwede natin ma identify ang ganitong sakit

madalas, 'pag may dementia, they really need a 24 hr caregiver. nakakatakot yan. minsan nakakalimutan na may linuluto, naiwan bukas ang oven, etc. and in the US, mahirap because their kids either live far away or don't want to have anything to do with them. also, because they've lived independently all their lives, ayaw nila na inaalagan.

but yeah, they need constant care. i'm not handling cases like this but i deal with older adults and where i am, the typical course talaga is to get caregivers or to place them in assisted living facilities. pero 60-somethings? that's too young, IMO. kawawa naman..

mooncake and leaves: sad to say, my mom is 65yo. And now, im looking for a caregiver/yaya for her kase dad ko lang nag aalaga sa kanya at naaawa na din ako sa dad ko kase sobrang stressed at pagod na sya. Di naman ako palageng available sa kanila kase i have a son at magkalayo houses namin.

Has anyone tried giving their loved ones suffering from dementia or alzheimer's VCO? Mukhang magco-conduct sila na ng in-depth study tungkol dito sa Sri Lanka

^I saw a news report  before about giving the patient tablespoon of VCO regularly. It can reverse the condition pa nga daw. I mean, there's nothing wrong trying it.

Ang nabasa ko nga at least two tbsps of VCO everyday. And you can increase it to 6-8 tbsps.

Dapat 0% transfat, non-hydrogenated at cold-pressed. Effect may be apparent after 35 days of administering the coconut oil. Downside, for some, is diarrhea but then it's a small price to pay kung mareverse or ma-stall ang progression ng disorder.

Ito ang ginamit ni Dr. Mary Newport sa husband niya suffering from severe dementia. After giving him VCO for some time, there was significant improvement in his clock test, in his gait, in his speech and talking ability.

Something ive learned - awareness. If only i knew the difference between normal aging and yung early symptoms. I feel kasi na i caught it too late nung i finallya accepte na mukhang may sakit na nga.
