Finally took half of my savings in Chinabank (kung saan nabubulook at inaamag dun) and put it in here sa Maxi Saver. Sabi sakin, within a year 1% daw interest, which is .5% the usual per annum interest tapos kapag walang withdrawal another .5% kaya nagiging 1% siya.

Better than BDO.

Instead of Maxi-Savers, I am more interested in BPI Direct Save-Up account with Insurance.  I hope someone can share his/her experience with this kind of savings account. Advantage/disadvantage.

^^ nakakarelate sis, same sentiments. Sa chinabank stagnant or ganun ata kapag regular savings? Even TD is not reasonable sa baba. Sample nalang yung 500k for 5 mos 5K interest or malaki pa yun? :/

I pulled out my BPI maxi savers 2 weeks ago. why? because the stup*d woman who attended to me said after a week of opening it is nag-iba na daw yung maintaining balance..from 50k it is now 75k sa passbook  :o wtf...she asked me kung gusto ko ba daw atm nalang, mas mababa daw maintaning balance nun, sabi ko, hindi bale na!

now my money is back in my bulok chinabank passbook savings  :P

marssie: I've said this many times on these boards, but, yes, okay yung BPI Direct Save-Up. If you're like me who needs to keep a large emergency fund and revolving cash, that account is a good place to keep your money.

PROS:
- Maintaining is only 1000
- You get free basic life and accidental death insurance equal to 5 up to 10 times your average balance over three months
- Interest rate is a little better than regular saving accounts

CONS:
- Only accessible through online and mobile banking; no ATM or over-the-counter transactions
- Insurance coverage is only up to 4M, so anything beyond 400k does not come with free insurance
- Getting this just for the insurance might not be a good idea because BPI can revoke that "promo" anytime

^sis, thanks a lot for the info.

PROS:

CONS:
- Only accessible through online and mobile banking; no ATM or over-the-counter transactions
Sorry i didnt understand this, are you referring to the deposit or withdraw or both? Para kasi sa parents ko sana ang account kung sakali, kung online and mobile banking, mukhang pahirapan pa para maturuan ko sila since wala naman ako sa pinas to guide them.

Since getting insurance is too expensive na sa age nila, i will just take advantage of this "promo" habang meron :)

^Isang Google lang, makikita mo dito yung actual maintaining balance: https://www.bpidirect.com/page/view/savings-and-checking-rates
Siguro yung tinutukoy nung nag-inquire ka, yung BPI Get Started savings account nila. Refer to the "with life insurance" part of this chart: http://info.bpiexpressonline.com/bpiprod/produpd.nsf/Deposit+Rates/DepositRates1

Yes, yung BPI Direct Save-Up account, hindi ka pwede mag-deposit or mag-withdraw over-the-counter. You have to use BPI's mobile or online banking if you need to transfer money to and from your BPI Direct account to a regular BPI savings account. Hassle nga kung tuturuan mo pa parents mo. Baka pwede yung traditional banking ways sa BPI Get Started account, kasi may passbook and/or ATM yun.

LOL. It's not much, pero much better than my regular savings account which I use as an emergency payment option. :P

Akin ay thru BPI Direct. Hehe. What I like about this is while ang BPI direct account transaction ko is with Kalayaan branch, mas malapit ang Maginhawa (BPI Family). Since both naka-enroll online, sa Family ako nagde-deposit saka ko na lang nililipat. But thinking of opening a UITF or MF, para "diversified". Haha.

QUESTION:

i have a maxi saver acct, currently at 600k yung laman, monthly almost ~P300 yung interest. minsan hindi maiwasan nagtatransfer ako ng amount sa ATM (counted as withdrawal), bumabalik sa ~P150 yung interest.

when i withdraw, passbook lang naman ang dinadala ko no need for an ID, o baka dahil kasi kilala na ko sa branch since halos 2x a week ako mag deposit

^ oo sis kasi initial deposit required ata yung 25k pag less than 25k walang interest. kaya ako. yung Emergency Fund ko ang nandito, the money that i will and should not spend. para hindi ako mattempt na magwithdraw.

^Tumawag pa ako sa kanila to have that changed. You can also have them call you if you don't want to wait around on a phone. Text CALLBACK <space> full name <space> contact number <space> preferred date and time to call <space> details of request and send to 0917 891 0000.
