Working in Dubai

Hi mga sis, question lang, i just recently viewed on emirates website, check it here: http://www.emirates.com/english/plan_book/essential_information/visa_passport_information/uae_visas.aspx na you can get a visa if you'll fly emirates airline. Meron na ba nakapag try nito? and online lang din ang visa processing basta may confirmed ticket ka na nila, mostly kase ang ginagawa ntin through agency or sponsor kung may kamag-anak, nahihirapan kase ko through agency and yung cousin ko naman na nandun walang work, yung husband lang niya so di nia ko puede i-sponsor.

Meron bang nakapagtry na nito? Any opinions re this, sisses? Thanks much!

^Not sure sis ha...but I believe for this to work you need a hotel booking din...

Reason: if you are going here, you need a place to stay di ba? your ticket date must be alligned to your hotel booking.

You might say, ok I have a cousin there na dun ako magstay.  They would then ask you, eh bakit you did not apply via your cousin.  If you say walang trabaho yung cousin mo, then that's a bad case na.  You might get the visa (if Emirates is lenient), but knowing the immigration officers at the airport...you are one lucky gal if you'd get through.

Aside from that Sis, 30 days lang ang maximum.  If you need to renew hindi ko alam if require ka umuwi sa Pinas.  And if they require a hotel booking just imagine, 30 days yung babayaran mo na hotel stay.  I'm assuming you want to work here kase you posted in this thread...minsan you might need more than 30days to find a job, plus yung processes pa ng company na mapapasukan mo.  Their internal processing for a residence visa once you get a job with them can range from 2days to 2weeks, I've heard meron pa naghintay ng 3weeks.

Before buying tickets with them, please call emirates Sis, ask them kase may nakalagay dun na 'Please note, whilst online applications are accepted from the below countries, nationals of certain countries are not eligible to apply online.'

Ano ba ang line of work mo Sis? I know there are agencies there sa Pinas na naghahire for Dubai Companies.  I went through that process 8yrs ago, and it only cost me around 30K back then. Right now I know its less kase most of the agencies are mandated not to ask for placement fees.

Thanks sis for all the info.. Admin HR ako sis yun sana ang gusto ko rin applyan naghahanap rin ako dito ng mga agencies kaya lang ang sabi ng kakilala ko na ng work na rin jan sa dubai mahirap daw makahanap ng hr na work jan dahil need daw na arabic speaking esp if recruitment. Pati online sis ngaaply na rin ako

^that's not entirely true Sis.  I know several Filipino na nas HR dept here in Dubai.  However, it is not always easy to get into this department, partly because mababa ang turnover sa department na yan.  and if you want to, baka you may need to start at the lowest, like HR Administrator / HR Secretary then slowly move yourself up the ladder.  Since iba ang mga policies dito compared dyan sa Pinas, but I don't think its going to be that different naman. 

Actually dyan din dapat ako sa line na yan, being a Psych Major (Industrial) - got a chance once, but nauna yung offer sa Sales Admin...kaya never na ako nakabalik. Pero I'm in a better place now, not sure if I will be this happy if I continue on the HR path.

Ilang years ka na ba working Sis? Ano ang concentration mo sa HR segments, is it Recruitment? Have you tried applying online? some sites like www.bayt.com is ok, or monstergulf.com and naukrigulf.com - I got replies and they even contacted me to schedule for an interview tapos wala pang fees na kelangan bayaran - although I never got my current job from them (kase I got the job I want bago pa mag-full force job hunt mode ako), or even look at specific company sites like Jumeirah.com/careers, Emaar.ae, Emirates.com, etc.  Or maybe you can also target the Recruitment Agencies baka kelangan nila ng Staff to conduct interviews, or screen applicants, etc.

I know someone who's currently in Dubai under tourist visa, he's staying with his cousin, unfortunately wala parin cyang nakikitang trabaho after a month of looking.

He already submitted tons of applications and he also got called for interviews but no luck so far. His visa expired last week so he applied for an extension to continue searching for work. I asked him if hindi ba pwede ma recommend cya ng cousin nya, he told me that i'ts not like Pinas where "whom you know" ang style. I was assuming kasi na he would be able to get a job fast since he knows someone there already. Is it really difficult to get a job there?

^pag mga lalake daw sis mahirap daw talaga maghanap ng work, i have a friend who works there too, yung kapatid niya mag 2 months na wala pa ring work, samantalang yung sister ng wife nya 2 weeks pa lang dun may work na daw kagad. Halos lahat ng kakilala ko ganun ang sinasabi, pag babae daw mabilis makahanap ng work.

^ganun ba sis? will it be different if gay? my friend is homosexual kasi and he mentioned to me about having to give "favor" to the locals para ma hire? he wasnt specific about it, but sounds like "sexual favor" not sure how true though coz he said that his female cousins got where they are now coz they also had to give in to the said "favors"

Thanks sis Myealexis21 very helpful nung mga insights mo, ill try dun sa mga binigay mong websites ang natry ko pa lang jan sa site na yan yung bayt.com nag fill up pa lang ako ng resume. 3 years na ko sa recruitment sis pero may kasama rin kaseng employee engagement ang jd ko and new hire data entry. I'll try my luck na rin sa mga agencies, this year kase ko nag start magapply e im waiting for my passport to be renewed para pag nagpunta ko complete requirements na.

^^wala naman akong kakilala sis na ganyan ang naging experience. Yung friend ko na lesbo, madali lang din nakakuha ng work eh. Kami nga ni hubby nag-iisip din either sya or ako, eh sabi ng friend ko ako na lang daw muna para madali then kunin ko na lang si hubby.

^^depende siguro sis no, my gay friend is still in Dubai, mid of Feb daw expire ang extention nya. Wala bang limit sa pag extend? I hope maka hanap na cya ng work dun before his stay ends.

Glad I could help Sis.  Basta tiyagain mo muna ang online application, and since hindi naman ikaw nagmamadali maybe last option mo na yung visit visa.  With your experience, tingin ko maganda naman ang chances mo.  As much as possible kase, mas maganda na pupunta ka dito na sigurado ka na may work kang dadatnan especially ang kamag-anak mo dito is cousin mo lang.  Iba pa rin kase kung immediate family mo.  And Sis, isa isahin mo yung mga site ng mga hotels like Dusit, The Address, Hyatt, Radisson, etc. punta ka dun sa career site nila...and also try mo din sa etihadairways pala.

Depende Sis kung anong line of work, experience nung applicante and pinakaimportante kung gaano kasipag ang nag-aapply.  Yung tatlo kong vinisit visa na puro lalaki they were able to find jobs within a 1 1/2 month.

Wala bang limit sa pag extend?

Meron Sis.  Ang Visit visa na inapply via travel agency is good for a month lang.  You can extend this for one month ulet.  So maximum you can stay here is 60days.  After that you need to go for an exit na. 
If yung nagsponsor ng visit visa mo ay pinadaan sa company niya (good for immediate family lang ata ito) then she/he can apply for two months visit visa, then one month extension.  Hence maximum of 90days stay here in Dubai.

Depende kung may bakanteng position na swak sa experience niya at kung sino ang lalapitan nung cousin niya to pass on his CV.  If that person ay may big influence on the management, then chances of landing a job is high.

Its more of who you know and who that person is in the company.  Pero even if highly recommended ka here, you would still go through a series of interviews.  Hindi yung automatic iyo na yung trabaho, they still need to ensure na tama ka sa position. 

Eto ay base lang sa mga nakita ko ha, baka may mga instances din na parang katulad din dyan sa Pinas.

And by the way this applies only to Expats.  Kase yung mga taga dito they can easily find a job as they are ofcourse given priority here kase bansa nila ito. (sana ganyan din sa pinas! hehe)

^^^^ hi sis, 2 months ulit ang nabigay sakanyang visa dito. 1 month sya sa kish tapos bumalik dito wiith 2 months visa ulit. i'll ask him kung anong type ang visa nya na yun. pero ang sabi nya, if hindi pa rin sya makakuha ng work at di sya mabigyan ng residence visa at nag expire na ang visa nya, di na sya sa kish mag eexit, sa country of origin na. i'll clear this up sakanya pag nagkausap kame.

I think that's one month visa, then one month extension - na binili niya na as bulk, kase I remember before yan ang tinatanong sa kin nung travel agency kung gusto ko ba raw ay yung 1 month or with extension na.  Buti nga ngayon pwede na ulet sa Kish there was a time na kelangan talaga uwi ng Pinas.  Pero before nung time na yun ata, around 2004-2006 kahit ilang beses ka umexit sa Kish pwede. 

^^Sis stylishmomy, pag admin related jobs kase mas inclined nga sila to get ladies.  Sa finance naman, mas may edge ang mga Indian National as in karamihan sa nasa finance mga Indyano ewan ko ba...pero may mga Pinoy/Pinay din naman.  If maboka sya, try niya kaya yung mga call centers ng Du / Etisalat.  I know Jumeirah has a Global Call Centre din and they hire kahit na zero experience ka sa hospitality basta madaldal and extrovert ang personality.
