my son has significant improvement after 1.5 years of OT and a year of speech therapy. he started at 3.5yo, very few words, with anxiety and no focus. Now he can tell us what he wants, learned how to negotiate (eat rice, give cellphone), kahit mga 3-5 words in a sentence lang, milestone na un sa kanya kase delayed nga e, GDD initial diagnosis pero pinalitan din to ASD the following check up. Marunong naman sya sa concepts, counting (1 to 30 na ngayon), letters, nakakabasa 3 letter words, minsan nanghuhula, pro at least alam nya magbabasa sya dapat. shapes and animals daming alam. sa concept di nalalayo sa typical na ka age nya. sa social skills  needs improvement, pero he did well sa summer class nila, pwede na daw i-try mix sa regular class, hopefully kayanin.

so happy writing this mga sis, after almost 2 years of struggle, and still struggling, minsan gusto na mag give up sa hirap ng situation, pero masaya review ang progress nila, and compare from where they started to now.

Hi mga mommies. May naka-try na ba dito sa SMLC (Shaping milestones learning center)? How's their ABA therapy? Effective ba sa mga anak ninyo? Malaki ba ang naging improvement? Thanks.

Mga sis hingi lang ako suggestions. How do you secure your child's future? Isa kasi yan sa worries namin. Kapag mawala na mga magulang paano na mga anak na may special needs? Walang institution sa Philippines na pwede mag-alaga sa mga may special needs pagtanda nila.  Sa finances, paano kayo magsave for them? Okay ba na magsave sa bank or may mga insurance plan ba for that? Thanks sa mga sasagot.

We set aside a savings account/investment for our son who has Down Syndrome. Sort of parang trust fund. What I am looking into now is drafting a will in case something happened to us.

Bukas mag try kami ng ABA ng SMLC. assessment muna 1500 daw tas 850/session 2hrs homebased. Diagnosed anak ko ng GDD nung 18months sya (may 2015) started OT 2x a week then nag speech kami jan 2016. nakailang balik nadin kmi pero kahapon talagang formally diagnosed na sya under the spectrum. kahit pala alam mong darating ka sa point na to medyo malulungkot ka padin, ang pinapasalamat ko lang sa halos 2 years naming nag the therapy medyo okay naman na son ko, delayed lang talaga sa speech pero very sociable, good eye contact and minimal assistance with adls. Sana mas gumanda behaviour with ABA para hopefully maipasok na sa regular school by nursery.

mga sis,  were you able to get PWD card for your kid this year? since Feb hindi ako makakuha  dahil wala pa daw pang print.

Ishare ko lang no. Yun palang anak ni Wanglu yun ventriloquist na nag-hall of famer sa talentadong pinoy nuon, may ADHD pala yun pero dahil sa marionettes medyo nacure yun focusing problem nya. Ayun blessing sa kanya yun puppets kasi nakapagperform sya sa ibat-ibang bansa.. 👏👏👏
Mayron din theories na gifted children and adhd kids are alike... So pay attention talaga kung san mag-excel ang bata and nurture his interest into gift.. ☺

I think even with typical kids naman, as long as they are focused on one thing eh it can certainly translate into a gift. Michael Phelps also has ADHD and from what I know, swimming started as therapy for him until nagusthan nya cause it helps him focus nga until he excelled.

ask ako ng feedback with dr dimalanta, dr jack herrin and dr alexis reyes.  my kid goes to doc d ngayon and i'm not very happy.  i don't get any response when i ask something about a test we had my kid take to see if physiological yung detail niya.

Dito  banda sa fairview san ko kaya pwede  ipa  assess ang son ko 13 yrs old na sya nakikitaan ko kasi ng mild autism pero gusto ko ma confirm.

My son's doctor is Dr, Herrin.  Nagpaconsult din kami kay Dr. Dimalanta once, pero hindi naman sya nagustuhan and he kept on pushing the Omega-3 Fish Oil (which he apparently is selling).  Anyway, we are very satisfied with Dr. Herrin although as compared to the other 2 doctors you have mentioned, mas junior sya.

One of my god daughters is suspected to be in the Autism Spectrum. Hindi pa diagnosed kasi nung dapat magpapa check up sila sa DevPed, nagkasakit si baby. Sabi lang ng mom ni baby, based sa nababasa nila, parang ganon na nga (ASD).
Hindi sya nakikipag eye contact, 3 y.o and di pa din masyado nakakasalita - to tell what she wants/needs.
I know my friend enrolled her sa summer class, and yung teacher daw dun, ang sabi, usually nirerefer sa kanila ng mga dev ped patients nila (not sure if therapy ba or what).
Pero I was hoping na pumunta na sila talaga sa dev ped for proper diagnosis and recommendation ng doctor.
Hindi ko 'to place, pero reading yung mga progress ng babies nyo, gusto ko sana i-encourage si friend na magpa sched na ulit sa devped.

Out of line ba? Is there a proper way to encourage them to see a doctor?

^I'm sure she suspects it too but maybe she can't come into terms pa with her feelings. Let her be. Eventually sya na din ang magkukusa na dalhin sa dotor yung kid nya. In my experience kasi, when I receive the diagnosis, even when my friends mean well, parang no one can console me talaga. I don't like when people give me suggestions on what to do, to think na wala naman sila sa sitwasyon ko. But that is just me plus I was really an emotional wreck during those times. Pero ngayon, ok na.

Pag may ibang friends kami na tinatawag name ni baby, expecting na lilingon, mom would say "ayy di sya nakikipag eye contact"

^siguro kamustahin mo yung summer class ni goddaughter and ask the mom on what are her latest developments in terms of milestones. Basta make it sound that you are genuinely interested.  Again, in my experience, I find it nice when people are interested sa achievements ni baby rather than pointing out kung ano ang kulang nya and then telling us what to do. does that make sense?

Super delayed na nga ata nung 3 years old na tapos hindi lumilingon pag tinatawag. My son is not on ASD but he has Down Syndrome so he has cognitive delays as well. That is one of the things that was pointed out to us pagdating sa milestones. We were told to always call our son by his name and before he turned one, he was able to do it naman.

Hello mommies,

I just gave birth last Mar 9 pero si baby po hindi nakapasa sa newborn hearing test nya sa right ear.. sobrang sad ko po and naiiyak ako nung nalaman ko, yung test nila sa hospital is otoacoustic emission test and bale for referral po yung right ear nya and binigyan ako ng referral sa Manila hearing aid and yung gagawin daw next diagnostic test is ABR (auditory brainstem response) so ayun po..any idea po or baka po may same situation sainyo dito sa thread?
