^I agree about ABA not being licensed and they just go through trainings BUT the reason it is gaining popularity is because it does work for most of the kids who tried it. Plus most of the OTs nowadays (this is from experience) medyo one size fits all na ang approach. Minsan naman mas may response kasi agad sa ABA.

But you have to really do your research because not all who claimed to know ABA are really trained to do ABA. And yes, ABA should be treated as one of the therapies only and not as THE only therapy the child should have. ABA therapists/teachers must have one of these backgrounds nursing, PT, psychology. Sometimes meron ding SPED background.

Personally, my son go to these 3 therapies, ABA, Speech and OT. And all of these combined helped him improve a lot.

Forgot to add that dapat the therapists are all willing to work with each other, otherwise  more harm than good ang effect nyan sa bata.

Some parents kasi (not all) think na ABA is the only intervention they need. I agree Madami nag ookay with ABA, since "repetitive" sya. I also agree na all disciplines should work with another harmoniously. But you know, may iba kasi pseudo so ano ano claim na unethical na for the disciplines din. Madami ako stories   May iba kasing ABA (I heard it personally ha) claims  sila na mag OT sped and speech, and to let go na other therapy. 😒 but then again, parents naman makakapag sabi ano ba best methods to employ based on what they see sa improvements ng kids

^ for me, unang Una dapat may awareness yun bata, sa person and activity. Some kids, dito hirap, natatagalan. General and Work behaviors I also look at it. its very important na ma follow up talaga sa house ano ginagawa sa therapy, para continuous improvement ng kid

@rhumbafrapp: tnx sis. Im happy din naman sa improvement ng kid ko with our OT even 1x a week lang nga yung session (doctor's advice is 3x a week). Dun sa part na natatagalan sis inaabot ba ng years or months yung ibang kids??

I have no idea pa naman kung ano ginagawa sa ABA sessions but ito talaga target ko itry dahil sa mga positive feedback(sana di ako mabigo dito. hahaha).

^ timeframe, yes may months to years. Usually upon eval, may presenting problems. Meron din problems na nakikita later on or ngkakaproblem yun bata as he grows up (example, writing, social skills). These are just some of the problems you might or might not notice early on, pero problem pala especially pag nag school na yun kid.. We address first yun mga dapat I prioritize (ex: precursory skills, work behaviors, gusto ng parent, age appropriateness).. Then continuous improvement towards other problem skills and areas
No problem naman sis if you want to try ABA. Some parents' comments to me ang gusto nila sa ABA since home based siya ngkaka structure bata sa bahay

Mga mommies!

Sinunod namin si Pedia na dalin si bunso sa Developmental Screening, una akala ko dev ped na yun and after nun akala ko malalaman ko na agad ang mga dapat kong gawin.

Ngayon naka schedule kami sa dev ped by the end of June, she was screened second week of May. Nanghihinayang ako sa time na to na sana nag fofocus na kami sa intervention or theraphy. My baby failed sa MChat expected ko na naman kasi i did it online na rin Naman and ako rin naman ang sumagot sa questionnaires na pinasagutan samin. The doctor who conducted the screening wala naman syang sinabi kundi [textspeak!] devped ang magsasabi samin ng kung ano man meron sa anak ko. she also gave us a request for hearing test, di pa namin nagagawa pero we're planning to do so before schedule ng devped nya.

Sobrang ready na sana ako at the time yung inipon kong lakas ng loob mejo nabaliwala. Mag iipon ulit para sa June.

Mga mommies may tanong po sana ako sa mga may babies na nasa spectrum, Ok naman ang behavior ng anak ko so far may ilang red flags nga lang sya and yung speech delay nga nya. Ito po ang tanong ko

1. Does autism symptoms develop as the child grow older my baby is no 2 yrs and 6 months, never had a meltdown, never had a tantrum for more than  a minute and ok naman sya sa mga matao and mingay na lugar minsan may discomfort pag mainit or maingay pero [textspeak!] naman nagtatantrum or umiiyak. So my question is this if ever she have asd will this eventually happen to us as she grows older (meltdown, selfharm and the like). May chance po ba na maglabasan pa ang ibang symptoms?

2. For the mean time while I'm waiting for our devped schedule is there anything I can do or places I could inquire. We live near Novaliches Bayan is there a center near here I could take my baby. 

3. How much po ba ang therapy and kung meron kayo mairerecomend sakin na magaling na therapist please.

^ Hi Sis! My daughter was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay, 2 years ago. Our main concern that time was speech delay.

Wala syang Autism pero naka 3 dev ped kami and I always asked the doctors about Autism.

btw, ok na ang daughter ko now. She passed the stage na of developmental delays. hardwork lang talaga sis. 2 years of therapies both OT and speech and constant follow up sa Dev ped.

Ito lang yung pagkakatanda ko sa mga sinabi nila sa akin about it with regards to your questions.

1. Kapag daw ang bata may autism and hindi naadress agad, nag reregress ang developments ng bata. Unlike yung ibang bata na as they grow older, nakikita mo yung improvements nila, kabaligtaran yun kapag may autism na hindi na aaddress agad.

Kaya the sooner you know the diagnosis the better. Para magawa ang dapat na therapy, etc.

2. sis, you can try to call more dev peds, baka may iba na magkaroon ng earlier slot. Dati ang ginawa ko, tumawag ako sa ibat ibang hospitals, ibat ibang dev peds to secure an earlier slot.

3. Sa ngayon, speech therapy nalang kami for my daughter. 800 per session (1hr).

Dati nag OT sya, 800 din per session. Meron syang naging speech teacher dati 1200 ang per session. Iba iba ang rates nila.

Yung dami ng sessions per week depende sa sasabihin ng Dev ped sayo.

Thank you sis Izabelle, matanong ko lang ilang taon na ang daughter mo when she started theraphy. I'm hoping na GDD lang din ang diagnosis ng anak ko may nakapag sabi rin kasi sakin na may mga lumalabas na autism symptoms pag may language or communication delay ang bata. Sa behavior wala naman ako masabi sa baby ko since mabait naman sya and playful, nasobrahan lang sya sa gadget and screentime di rin nalalabas ng bahay lagi nasa kwarto then ipad and tv.

Good Afternoon Mga Mommy. I am not a female nga pala, I'm a father. Our 4 year old son was diagnosed with ASD last week lang  On denial stage pa, but the doctor says kailangan nmin ng Early Intervention for Autism (or 3x a week na therapy).

Sa developmental profile ng doctor appropriate yung gross motor and fine motor sa age niya which is 4. Sa problem solving/cognitive is mas mataas sa age niya which is pang 5-5.5 years old na. Dun lang siya bumagsak sa Language (Expressive = 1.5 - 2 yrs old, Receptive = 2.5 - 3 yrs old) and Social Adaptive (2-2.5 yrs old) lumagpak.

I don't know, sabi ng doctor mild lang daw pero masakit pa rin tanggapin na ganun agad ang findings pero sabi naman ng Doctor hindi pa niya mabigyan ng proper label, hintayin pa daw after 1 year ng therapy. Kala namin language delay lang, kasi naga-ask naman siya at nagsasabi ng kung ano gusto niya in a few words nga lang sa amin like "Mommy/Daddy dedede po ako","Ihe","Ya-yuck","Water". He understands us din pag inuutusan like get this get that, put this on the table kitchen. Pag may gadget at napansin yung pula na sasabihin niya "Daddy/Mommy Lowbatt" then ibibigay na sa amin yung gadget. He knows how to operate the laptop din, using mouse, opening folders kasi nandun educational apps niya. And he is really adorable, kasi pag pasok mo pa lang sa pinto, titigil niya ginagawa niya tapos lalapit sa'yo "Daddyyyyy/Mommmmmy" sabay hug ng mahigpit.

Gulung-gulo talaga isip ko, don't know where to begin again especially yung cost ng therapy is sobrang bigat sa rank and file employee lang but more than that is yung kakaharapin ng anak ko sa paglaki niya. Kaya need to sell our 20 year old car para maipasok sa therapy center kahit papaano.

Anyhow, may alam po ba kayo dito sa South ng ganitong therapy center? Medyo mahal kasi sa DLSU-UMC Dasma.

^ hingi ka 2nd opinion bro. mukhang normal naman yung son mo, base sa kwento mo. sana speech delay lang..or developmental delay lang.

^Hi Bro, wala bang ni-recommend na therapy center ang devped nyo? Check mo yung Kidsville of Dasma. Pre-assessment by their head OT is P1200, therapy itself is P600 per session. If it will give you peace of mind, try to seek 2nd opinion. HTH

Ang ni-recommend niya na sa center is yung DLSU-UMC din (which is siya rin ang Head ng therapy center), dun din kasi kami nakakuha ng available na DevPed. Other than that wala na siyang ni-recommend na ibang therapy center kaya naghahanap ako ng iba 

Alam namin pag tinatawag siya ng ibang tao, talagang di rin siya lumilingon pag ayaw niya pero pag siya naman may need sa amin at sa mga nakapalibot sa kanya may eye contact naman. Pag nga naglalaro siya at gusto niya ipakita sa  amin yung ginagawa niya sasabihin niya "Tingnan mo" sabay tingin sau at minsan tinuturo niya ng kamay niya. Pero aminado kami need talaga niya ng speech therapy kasi nga konti lang alam niya na words, tapos mas naiintindihan niya English. Kasi gawa kakapanood ng mga English :c :c :c

Siguro nga po need namin 2nd opinion, kasi may Echolalia din siya which is isa ring sign of autism. Pag alam niya isasagot niya, sasagutin niya. Pero pag hindi niya alam isasagot sa tanong mo or hindi niya naintindihan, uulitin niya lang yung sinabi mo.

@lonelypapa, wala pa naman po ako experience sa kidsville. Bale nagconsult lang ako sa devped because of my bunso's behavior (4y8m) thankfully wala naman dapat ika-bahala pero need i-address ang short attention span nya. So ni-recommend ni devped na mag-OT sya once a week. Pero kung kaya ko naman daw na i-limit ang screen time nya to 1hr a day (challenging ito dahil bakasyon pa) pwedeng wag daw muna. Nagdecide ako na sa June na lang kami mag-OT.

Side kwento lang, binalita ko sa pedia na nakapagpa-check up na kami sa devped and pinakita ko ang report (nakuha ko after a week ng consultation) sabi nya, "ganito pala ang report nya, iba iba talaga sila." Yung iba daw kasi handwritten at makukuha mo din after ng consultation, yung iba naman puro check boxes lang na parang di na daw kapani-paniwala, hehe. Pero nagulat sya na may bayad pa ulit yung pagkuha ng report. hehe

@Bratty, Oo iba-iba sila result, yung iba maghihintay ka pa daw bago makuha result, yung sa anak ko habang ino-obserbahan niya sinusulat na niya agad sa isang form lang. Walang checkboxes, puro observation lang nya kung pang anong edad yung nakikita niya sa kilos ng anak ko. DevPed nga pala na nag-check up sa anak ko is Dr. Lazaro ng DLSU-UMC.

Ano ba dapat expect bratty and saan ka nagpacheck up?  Delayed ng konti speech ng eldest ko and if he can't express himself before our next pedia visit, she might suggest that we visit a devped na daw.  Something I wish not to do dahil sa stigma ng mga bata na nagthetherapy.

Sa devped namin, meron siyang paper na hawak para siyang list. habang may pinapagawa sa anak ko she will either check or leave blank dun sa list sa paper. sa tingin ko yung check yun yung mga nagawa ng bata based dun sa activity. nung tapos na lahat nang pinagawa sa anak ko, parang nagcompute devped ng score tapos based from the score nakuha dun madedetermine kung anong functional age niya. the devped asks questions din naman, tapos based on your answers naka-depend din kung i-check ba ng devped yung nasa paper. based sa observation ko lang yan ah. I have been to 2 different devped and halos same yung way ng pag report nila. ganto, parang iba iba kasing category yun tinitignan ng devped like locomotors, personal and social, speech, eye-hand coordination, non verbal problem solving and practical reasoning tapos bale parang score ng bata is functional age meaning yun age ng bata based sa skills niya. pasensya na kung malabo explanation ko. both doctors we've been to, kayang kaya ibigay sakin result the same day hand written.

Update lang po ng baby ko.

Tapos na kami magpa devped and ang kanyang diagnosis is GDD with autistic features, next year pa daw nya masasabi kung may autism nga si baby. my baby is 2 yrs and 8 months now, kanina ang aming first OT. Positive naman si OT na mawawala yung kanyang mga autistic traits nga na sinasabi ni DEVPED, and I'm praying na sana nga mabago pa. As of now ang mga autistic traits na ginagawa na lang naman ng baby ko is mejo mahina pa rin ang eye contact nya and paglingon pag tinatawag sya like 50% pa lang, pero big improvement na for us. Yung pointing wala pa rin. Pero I've read somewhere na yung mga batang may speech and language delay may problem sila talaga sa pointing and paglingon sa pangalan. Kaya I'm hoping na sana GDD lang ang problem ni baby and soon with the help of therapy mabago pa.

Mga mommies meron po bang same ng case ni baby dito and if yes? Kamusta na po ang baby nyo ngayon?

Hi mga sis share ko lang. My son was diagnosed with ASD last month  delay kasi sya sa maraming aspect of development at 2years and 8mos hindi pa sya marunong magsalita, even mommy and daddy hindi nya nasasabi and ang way of communication nya ay hahawakan k lang nya sa kamay at dadalhin dun sa lugar kung saan gusto nya like kung gusto nya ng milk, dadalhin ka nya sa lagayan ng feeding bottles and milk, or kung gusto nya ilipat tv ibibigay nya sa amin ang remote control. Pero mahilig sya sumayaw at maghum ng songs kapag nanonood ng TV, maghapon lang sya sa Tv, then kapag naglalaro sya ayaw nya ng may kalaro, hirap din sya magrespond sa name nya unless kapwa nya bata ang tumatawag sa kanya. Sabi ng devped clearly delay sya sa communication and social inter-action, advise limit ang tv hours to ihr/day then completely no gadget, expose to other children and games with inter-actions like catching ball etc. recommended for OT for behaviour modification and Speech therapy

Pinauwi ko muna yung anak ko sa province kasi madami sya cousins na makakalaro, pinagbilinan ko lang yung nanny and mother ko about dun sa mga bawal sa knya, sa ngayon hindi ko pa sya nassched sa OT pero my improvement na dahil lang sa exposure nya sa ibang bata.Marunong sa din sya makipaglaro at makipag interact sa ibang bata.marunong na sya himingi ng dede, happy ako pero ipapa OT ko p din sya para mas magimproved

Ganyan din anak ko sis pero noon pinacheck ko [textspeak!] 2 yrs 2 mos [textspeak!] and ang initial diagnosis is delay pa lang sa speech and social. Inadvise kami for OT and speech so far nagimprove na behavior nya through OT and may konting words na xang nasasabi
