my son was also diagnosed with mild autism, a few days after he turned 3yrs old. nagpipigil lang ako umiyak sa harap ng doctor. pero pagkauwi ko sa bahay talagang nalungkot ako. siyempre naiisip ko, pano na anak ko pag matanda nako etc.  but after a while, naisip ko i need to be strong for my baby. kaka 1mos palang nya sa OT at ST, and we can see his improvement already. May nagsasabi na baka ma-stressed daw ang bata, pero sa nakikita ko,  he enjoys his activities sa ot/st at school.

i'm glad may ganitong forum. ang hirap kasi irelate sa iba, na hindi naiintihdan ang situation. kesyo daw, baka naman hindi nagingat nung buntis. or dahil na exposed sa gadgets or etc.

^Sobrang nakakatuwang basahin yang post mo sis. Sana ganyan din mangyari sa anak ko. Almost one year pa lang syang nago-OT and mga 4 months na speech therapy. Malaki na rin ang na-improve, very smart din kaya it keeps me motivated sa work.

Tyaga lang sis. Kahit anong bagay naman di nakukuha overnight diba? At saka no matter what happened, don't give up. I didn't. Look at my son now. Sobrang nakakatuwa and sobrang makikita mo na worth it lahat ng pagod at gastos. You can do it sis! Tiwala lang and of course, pray!

Ako, I really believe in the powers of prayers. When I met my step son, 6 yrs. old pa lang sya and nasasabi lang nya harry potter and spider man kahit ano sabihin ko basta yun lang sinasagot nya sa akin (french speaking kasi sya eh hindi ako marunong mag french, natuto ako mga ialang words lang), at that age naka diaper pa sya and mukha syang 2 at mga damit nya pang 2 yrs old. Ngayon grabeh ang daldal sobra ako nauubusan ng sasabihin saka masyadong opinionated na pa joke kaya nasobrahan ang sense of humor and pag magkasama kami tawa lang kami ng tawa although di sya sanay sa maraming tao pero di naman sya mahiyain kaso tahimik lang sya pag may ibang tao. Noong pinanganak sya sabi ng doctor habang buhay sya dependent sa lahat ng bagay at di makakapagsalita and makakaintindi ng kahit na ano pero si Lord lang nakakaalam ng future ng tao hindi ang mga dalubhasang doctor kaya mga sis hwag kayong mawalan ng pag-asa, noong na meet ko step-son ko lagi ko syang pinagdarasal pag natutulog sya na magkaisip at makaintindi kaya praise God talaga.

^nakakainspire naman mga stories ng mga sisses na nakakitaan ng malaking improvement ang mga anak nila after the therapy sessions. i can totally relate as i felt the same with my son.

1 and 1/2 years noon ang anak ko when i started to notice his language and communication skills are somewhat delayed. he doesn't respond to his name or make an eye contact. i sought the advice of his ped

I sought the advice of his regular pedia and was told to have his ears checked so i searched for a pedia-Otolaryngologist and got one from Philippine Children's Medical Center.

The doctor ordered to have his ears tested to rule out hearing loss. He undergone the Auditory Brainstem Response test and the result showed his hearing was okay.

Months after, we went to a pedia-dev in Medical City. During the assessment, I was very nervous as I'm already anticipating the result will be "Autism" based on the warning signs I'm seeing on my son.

We were informed by the doctor that some of my son's skills are at par with his age, however, his language and communication skills are delayed so he was advised to take OT and Speech therapy sessions. My son was 2 yrs and 2 months then.

Since we're living with my in-laws, they felt it was early for my son to take these sessions so we decided to delay them, what we did instead is enrolled him in a summer class.

Last June, we decided to enroll my son in a regular toddler class for him to learn to socialize and we hoped he'll be able to learn to speak. Sadly, I was asked by the principal to withdraw my son as some mommies are complaining that my son was disturbing their children during class.

On September, we started the OT session with Teacher Anne in Angels and Saints SPED school 2x a week. She was referred to me by my previous officemate.

After 4 months of OT, my family is noticing significant improvements in my son. He's now interested in learning the alphabet. He can immitate actions and gestures and sometimes pronounce some letters.

I never regretted my decision to have him take the early intervention programs. Once I get the go signal from his OT, we'll start his Speech therapy. 

I suggest to all my fellow moms to always go by your instinct when it comes to your children's welfare.

I agree with you sis rjaye_2000, to go by your instinct. 

when my son was 1 1/2  I have a gut feeling that something wasn't right with my sons' condition. but my family, friends even his pedia kept on telling me that he's just young to learn to speak etc etc. so, i waited before he turned 3 and had him checked with his dev pedia.  unfortunately, i was right. 

but I'm glad he's doing well with his OT and Speech therapy sessions.

Hello Mommies! I know a very good pediatrician who handles Autism very well. Her management includes supplementation of fish-derived omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA which is very good for Autism. Most kids who are into very good source of fish oil are showing progress when it comes to speech and behavior. plus manage din dapat ang diet and lifestyle ng kids. iwas sa mga unhealthy food which worsens their condition

Praying that every child with Autism will be given the proper management for their condition to improve

Hi Mommies, it's been a year since my son's ASD diagnosis. Ang bilis!
My son was diagnosed by Dra. De Castro (TMC Sta Rosa).
I got a second opinion from Dra. Moral (Asian Hospital).
ASD talaga ang diagnosis niya.
Super heartbreaking nong mga 1st few months.
 When he began therapy, anlaki ng progress niya though meron pa din meltdowns.
My son also has a prob with food. He's a very picky eater. as in less than 10 food lang ata kinakain niya. He still has sensory issues...
He also has prob sa sleep pattern (our prob til now) He's awake at night.

One struggle happened when we changed his therapist, naging wild siya as in todo meltdown everytime mag OOT. I decided to remove him from that OT.
When he returned to his orig OT, everything went well. no more meltdowns.

He also started Speech Therapy 2 weeks ago, he loves his therapist. I also like her.
She's calm and very patient.

Now, my goal is to look for a good school for my son.
He is turning 4 years old. DevPed said SPED.
I hope he will enjoy school. I pray.

We are planning to have 2nd opinion for my daughter with Dra. Pacifico at Stillwaters Alabang kasi sabi ng regular pedia namin eh mukhang wala namang ASD ang anak ko.  Do I need to inform her about the first diagnosis of my daughter?

Any feedback about Dra. Pacifico?  My first devped was Dra. Moral from Asian Hospital.

for me sis wag mo muna sabihin yung first diagnosis sa kanya.. kunyari first time niyo pa lang mag papa-asses... minsan kasi yung mga ibang doctor ginagaya lang yung diagnosis ng naunang doctor.

That was my plan before. Wag sabihin sa new DevPed diagnosis kasi my son wa doing therapies na that time so I thought baket need ko pa itago. Ayun , ASD din diagnosis ni Dra. Moral. MMK mode na naman ako sa harap ni Doc. Anyway, if plan mo i-hide diagnosis ng unang doctor, i guess pede rin. Basta importante gawin mo yung therapies. Sayang din kasi oras.

Verbal sya ngayon but prior to that hindi sya masyado nagsasalita kaya nagpa devped kami. Nag base sya sa test na ginawa sa kanya. Di bale naka tatlong visit na kami kay dra. As what I've shared from the other thread here,  accelerated sya sa school. Almost lahat ng exams nya for the whole year ay perfect.  She's into traditional school.

Masyado sya malikot at pag gusto nya hindi pwede mabali. Siguro kasi na spoiled din namin sya. Overseas Mom kasi ako at si hubby ang nasa pinas to take care of her.

Nagpa check-up kasi sya sa regular pedia and sabi hindi nya makita na ASD ang daughter ko kaya kami magpapa second opinion.

For me, parang nakikita ko na wala din sya ASD pero whatever ang maging result ng second opinion, I will accept it wholeheartedly.

baka highly functional sis aspergers...since sabi mo okey naman sya sa academics and tataas pa score. nagmamatter din kasi sa socialization aspect sis okey naman sya sa pakikipag frens and socialize sa school?

Sis, Friendly sya at saka kahit sino kausapin nya, Hindi sya nahihiya sa ibang tao. We'll see kung ano ang maging 2nd opinion.  Naka schedule kami sa May 13.

Sis cutemama, hindi sya masyado nagsasalita eh more than 3 years old na sya noon. May mga unusual habits like tatalon sya ng pahiga sa kama, mag untog ng ulo nya sa bed din. All of these were gone nung nag therapy na sya. So far madaldal na sya at very smart.

^ ah ganun ba sis. thanks. ganyan din ako before pero 1.5 y/o pa lang nun si baby.. paranoid ako masyado, lahat ng red flags hinahanap ko. ang umiiyak na ko sa gabi, kasi may mga red flags ako nakikita like jumping, spinning, and yung toy car yung gulong pinaglalaruan. pero sabi ng doctor observe pa daw..masyado lang pala ko excited magsalita siya and yung mga anak ng officemates ko ginagawa rin pala yung mga bagay na yun so normal land din.. now he's 2 super daldal na although bulol pa rin pero atleast conversational na..
nagwoworry nga ko dun sa son ng officemate ko, nagpost siya ng pics ng son niya, lahat ng toys naka linya parang train ang haba.. tapos marami nag comment na wow ang galing daw. tapos nagcomment siya na oo nga eh, lagi niya ginagawa yan pag ginalaw mo magaglit.diba one of the red flags yun?

Hindi ko sya nakitaan ng paghihilera ng kahit na anong bagay or pagpapaikot ng gulong ng toy car (meron kasi sya ganon from petron).  Nakakausap na sya ngayon at sumasagot na pag tinanong unlike before na walang reaction.  Ang comment lagi ng teacher nya is malikot sa loob ng class room pero lahat ng lessons nya kuha agad kahit once pa lang tinuro sa kanila.

Mommies suggestions naman kung saan po nag therapy mga anak nyu?? Baka po malapit samin dito sa Taguig. thank you
