Pupuntahan ko yung next earliest sched nya to ask for 2nd opinion. Yung present dev ped nya is from St. Dela Salle Medical Center Dra. Pacifico

Thats good to hear cutemama. :)

Ako naman I accepted the fact that my son has ASD though sometimes I feel worried pa din about the future. Pero i try to erase those worries by focusing sa present. He is doing well sa therapies niya and my heart jumps with joy whenever he learns new things.

But of course sometimes, di talaga maalis isipin na sana.. Wala nalang yung label niya.

My daughter was with OT and ST for 9 months  now and I can say na sobrang laki ng improvement nya. She even enrolled in regular school at mas natuto sya makipag socialize sa mga bata. Last June, she had follow-up with our devped and we are very happy na malaki ang na cope-up nya sa delays compared nung first assessment nya. By December we need to go back with devped for follow-up and we are hoping na maka cope-up na sya sa mga delays nya.

Prayers talaga mga sis, always pray pray pray. Pag gabi nga at tulog sya pinapatong ko kamay ko sa ulo nya then I pray and miracle talaga ngayon nagbibigay na sya ng opinyon nya, pag umaga nagtatanong na sya kung nakatulog kami ng maayos...something na hindi ko inexpect noon nasasabi na nya. Saka he is sooooo funny, grabe sense of humor nya.

One person even asked me, any ano sakit nya? Autism? I got so mad and sabi ko...sakit agad?! nakakahawa ba anak ko?

Anyways, it's just me pero I am very protective of my son kasi. Buti na lang yung school nya is very accepting about his condition. He is doing really good now. Nakakabuo na sya ng sentences and he plays with other kids na talaga sa school nya. I am very much happy sa development nya. She's happy about it though kasi sobrang okay daw yun and normal for a 4 year old boy to initiate play with others.

I read that for parents and caregivers of kids with autism pwede daw mag avail ng tax incentives. Meron na bang nakakaalam dito ng details about that and how? Please share.

talaga sis naku super good news yan kahit pano relieve sa expenses natin for theraphy imagine for just an hour of theraphy we're already spending from 550php to as high as 900php per hour sa theraphy. for a month of theraphy halos sahod na ng isang employee sa isanig office. as much as possible i dont want to compute na talaga kasi sakit sa bulsa! sakit na nga emotionally pati pa sa bulsa hay. but sympre anything for our child we will do anything just to provide specially we know na napaka importante ng early intervention. sana more assistance sa government just like in US....

I just got off the phone with payroll. Since my child is listed as my dependent, Php25,000 personal exemption is already applied and when he turns 21 (and older), if I his condition stays the same and we get the PWD ID, I can keep him as dependent. Tax incentive daw only applies for the PWD himself/herself. He/Se is entitled to an additional deduction from their gross income, equivalent to 25 percent of the total amount paid as salaries and wages to persons with disabilities.

Mukhang ang only hope natin talaga is lower income tax rate :(

so you mean sis pinaka incentive lang is PWD? and yun when the kid reached 21 yrs old his parents can still have the 25000 tax exemption?

TowBerryBlue: You can opt to educate the person about Autism, that way there will be more Autism awareness. Many people are just not knowledgeable about our kids' condition, and they sometimes confuse the usage of the term "disease" than "disorder". Kaya they don't know na nakaka offend ang remarks nila.
One close friend even replied to me during a chat conversation, when we were talking about my son with the words "I pity you", insulting as it may seem, but I wasn't offended, kase I try as much to understand her, mejo bobs sya mag english hehe

^ some people din kasi are just plain insensitive. Minsan, pwede naman huwag nalang mag comment or be very careful sa salitang bibitawan.

Izabelle: it is sad that's how most people are, they wouldn't understand unless it happened to them. Kaya best to educate and raise awareness. :)

i know as early as 2 yr old pwede madiagnose ang bata...eh how oldest naman pwede madiagnose ang isang bata?.. my son is now 5 yr old have been to 2 devped already and yet they cannot say if he have asd or not maybe masyado very mild. from communication disorder naging developmental language delay from his first and still devped since he was 2 yr old. thats why i even consulted another devped and she said she still cannot tell and just stay and remained the first diagnosis of my first devped but she is suggesting me to have IDOS test and ADHRI test whicg is more comprehensive kind of test to detect if the child have asd or not its times 2 price of my present pedia there will be a camera inside the room and the result will be given after a month pa..................

right now my present dilemma is finding the right school for him because his age now is very crucial he will be turning 6 yr old by next yr. thats why we were be having a conference with his theraphist, teachers at school and his devped will be talking if san sya nababagay na school for next school year.

so even now pa lang im scouting sana yun regular school that still accepting school with learning disability or asd kids. as much as possible i dont want sana mag sped school son ko kasi iam worry na magaya nya behavior of some kids in sped school.  can your recommend mommy's?

^ i've seen too many kids na pinilit ng parents na i-mainstream. Result = poor grades, poor interaction with others, no friends, getting bullied, etc. I've seen it, nangamote sa Xavier, bagsakin sa LSGH, na-outcast sa Claret at Ateneo, na-trauma sa MC, Poveda, ICA, etc. Regarding you issue about how old, there is no limit, one of my friends' brothers got diagnosed with Aspergers after graduating from ADMU at 21. Another friend's sister was diagnosed with ASD at 16. Comprehensive tests are very expensive lalo na the older the client gets. Take your usual dev-ped assessment and multiply it by 7. Around that much ginastos ng friend ko.

Bihira lang ako makarinig ng parents na nagrereklamo na nagagaya ng kids nila yung behaviors ng other students when in SpED schools. I am in no position to tell what kind of school your child should attend, but since you're already saying na even the doctors can't gauge, why not try a progressive school? See this thread. http://www.femalenetwork.com/girltalk/index.php/topic,213346.200.html

Also keep in mind not to worry about the diagnosis. I have seen far too many misdiagnoses by docs to make a child's diagnosis a factor for anything.

hi sis dulcette thanks for your POV :) yes definitely all the schools you had mention are definitely out to my list of my school hunt. number 1 factor is the big scale ratio of student per class which is one of the big consideration if looking for an inclusion school, my 2nd consideration is that the school should really have  a nice and clear program for student with special needs :) which i think all the school you mention don't have that kind of program and even if they have i dont think they are well competent in handling student with special needs :) specially with ICA and xavier its a chinese school and mas burden lang sa son ko to have another language since english and tagalog medyo hirap na nga..so far in 3 days na pag scout ko within the area of q city eto palang choices ko
1) angelicum college,
2) ceres care/ st therese ..in sta mesa heights
3) mont michel school..
5)wordlab
6) piagetian
7)jasms - gusto ko sana here kaso nalalayuan ako edsa area malamang traffic
8)community of learners- kaso nalalayuan na din ako
9)wordlab in erod- kaso as high as 200k daw tuition

**mommy's baka may alam pa kayo pwede madagdag sa list? baka makahelp din sa ibang mommy's na nagsscout for their child..

hirap and magastos but para sa mga ank natin we will do anything ..
thank you

@sis Darna88 - Worldlab is so expensive! Sobra! I honestly liked their facilities and small student per class lang talaga, nakita ko nga 8 lang pinaka marami. But damn, 200k?! Grabe! duduguin ako nun if ever.

As early as now naghahanap na talaga ako ng big school for my son. here's my list:

* John Dewey in Congressional - so much cheaper compared to Worldlab talaga. Progressive school.

* The Seed Montessori - this is in Don Antonio Heights yata. In a way, medyo QC area pa rin so malapit.

* COLF - sobrang layo lang for me kasi sa San Juan na sya. I heard okay daw talaga dito.

* Montessori de San Juan - may program sila for kids in the spectrum. Accredited pa sila ng Autism Society of the Philippines.

* OB Montessori Center - This is the one in Greenhills. Sobrang layo lang talaga kasi.

I hope this helps din sayo.
