haha..oo sis. my purpose of my VUL is insurance rin talaga. na if ok na ang funds wala na akong masyadong intindihin na babayaran na life insurance in the future. parang ginawa ko syang forward payment for my insurance as long as I am living. I also recommend having mutual fund as a seperate investment tool working at the same time for your retirement.

yes taking another policy will mean again another processing fee and the charges will start again from the bottom.for a 10 yr plan, the investment part of VUL's starts to kick-off after 10 years pa lang talaga kasi andyan na rin ang loyalty bonus and the only charge into your fund is the insurance charge.

my POV regarding VUL's, don't be contented with the limited payment na after10 years stop na ang pagbabayad. parang pay yourself first kasi ang labas nito sa akin. habang nagtatrabaho ka lagyan mo lang monthly ng 1,000 or quarterly, then reap whatever you have planted in the future.

but if you have the money naman, i prefer one payment VUL's. kasi mutual fund talaga ang dating minus the estate tax pag irrevocable ang beneficiary.

Does Sunlife's Money Market Fund have termination fees?
I know it has no sales load.. so I would think it won't have any "holding" period.

Also, I've had it for over a year now... I never experienced a capital lost yet.
The NAV actually doesn't move until a few days later when it will move 0.01 pt
LOL

In other words, it moves like a turtle! You'd be better off with BPI Maxi Saver.

With that said, you should look into BPI's Short Term Fund, it has majority of
its holdings in SDAs... less possibility of capital losses

Plus redemption is automatically credited to your BPI ATM account and only
takes one day.

in my opinion mxherr which i believe ganito rin ang opinion ng iba, money market is only a parking area for MF whenever shakey ang market, investors can transfer their funds kasi kung e-out nila ang money ng maaga dahil merong sales load so better transfer it to another stable account and when the investors feel that the market has already hit the bottom, ibabalik naman ulit nila sa equity or balance.

@sachism: i think yes. nagbrowse kasi ako which ang ok na insurance & i chanced some where & i quote "Actually you can track down your Sun Life investments and insurance policies, as well as their market movements 24/7 simply by enrolling your accounts or policies with Sun Life's Sun Link Online."

@swit, true that's how I use and view
my SunLife Money Market fund but
that only applies to SunLife.

With other funds, there's no such thing
as a fund transfer. If you decide to
transfer from equity to money market.
Its a redemption from equity which
would trigger any fees and then a
subscription to the money market fund
which has its own holding period.

Also only SunLife's Money Market fund
has returns lower than Savings Account.

SunLife's Money Market most recent
1 year return is 0.33% as per pifa.com

Compare that to the lowest rate among
my savings account BDO with 0.5%
interest rate, that's 0.4% net. Still higher
than SunLife's Money Market returns hehe.

Other money market funds on the other hand
has returns comparable to time deposits and SDAs.

I am even puzzled sa ganyan mxherr..money market fund started at 4% during its inception and slowly declining as year goes by.  matanong ko nga yan sa mga fund manager. hehe. I dont even recommend that kahit pang short term na 1 year lang because of the returns unless its a transfer from one fund to another.  just hoping it'll perform better ;)

Hi po... what are your thoughts about Manulife products.. especially the one that you'll pay quarterly or annually then you'll gain interest for the next 20 years. I think 20 max ata yung name ng product? not sure. Is Manulife a good/stable company?

@squiggle,

I think it was because the rates a few years ago was still
relatively high. Ngayon wala na.. super low hehe.
And looks like Sunlife's Money Market invests in Special
Savings account for the most part. Hindi sa mga SDAs
which has bigger rates.. so kaya [textspeak!] medyo tagilid

How about BPI's get started savings account? It is a regular savings account with LIFE insurance. what are your thoughts about it. Please share. Thanks :)

This is one of the products that i love with BPI and you get a meager insurance with your deposit. but the idea of putting an elevator to your desired savings is not achieved with this kind of scheme and it's only until age 70. 400K deposit is equivalent to 2M insurance and you can't exceed your insurance coverage more than that amount.

lets say you buy 2M term life insurance from an insurance company worth 10,000 (of course this would depend on age) you still have 390,000 to be invested in stocks and mutual funds where the banks would usually put your money naman talaga. at a conservative rate lang na 12% (not guaranteed, maybe higher or lower, depending on market fluctuation) 46,800 ang gain mo in a year but if you kept it in the bank with 3% nasa 12,000 lang ang kita nito.

its actually a case to case basis and depende sa pangangailangan ng bawat tao.

Plans with endowments are great plans, the thing is, they come in expensive packages. Each company repacked the concept of endowment at sa dividends lang sila nag-iiba. The more experienced ang company, the higher dividends ang binibigay. Just a tip sissies, if both parents have adequate life insurance to address the risk, and you wanted a guaranteed plan, endowment plans are better sa mga bata especially if it's a lifetime endowment kasi para syang gift, pati ang mga apo mo ay makakatanggap ng proceeds and mas mura sya kasi sa bata mo inilagay ang saving cum insurance. just a thought.
