I was wondering if anyone here has gone to BetterDog? They have Training, Grooming, Hotel Services and a Petshop. I just went there 2 weeks ago and brought my 10 month old pom to have her evaluated if she can join their Pet Obedience - Family Dog 1 class, and she passed I just went last Sunday for the First session which was an intro talk for the owners only (pets not allowed) and I really learned a lot. According to them it's more of a human school than for dogs, coz they teach the owners to become pack leaders and for their pets to obey them. I feel like I was listening to the Dog Whisperer during the class

I highly recommend them and I can't wait to attend the next sessions

Family Dog Program
 
Most dogs are acquired as family companions, so the most immediate task is to teach them the right manners both at home and in public.

The Family Dog Program is the entry level program that provides foundation skills for all dogs.

The program is designed as a springboard for whatever direction humans will take their dogs. Some will want to eventually compete in dog sports like agility or rally obedience, or even frisbee, while others will find joy in a well behaved dog that they can show off to family and friends.

It is divided into TWO PARTS of six sessions each, to give owners breathing space in the training schedules. It also gives them more time to hone the dog´s basic skills before moving on to more difficult exercises. 
 
 
 
Family Dog One (Foundation Skills)
For puppies and dogs, 4 months and above 
 
This is an entry level class that teaches the foundations of good manners at home and in public: Walking on Loose Leash, Sit, Down, Stay, Come, polite greetings, wait at doors, and Leave it. First session is for people only–no dogs. 
 
 
 
Family Dog Two (Foundation Skills)
For puppies and dogs, 4 months and above 
 
This is the second part of Family Dog One and builds on the skills learned in that module. Exercises work on more reliable commands and longer stays, under a higher level of distraction.

Requires having passed Family Dog One.

^yep sis i bought the deal from highlife for a 30% discount oo nga mahal parin talaga pero sa tingin ko it's a good choice. right now balak ko na pagipunan yung 2nd part ng family dog, agility courses and clicker training

If my memory serves me right, VIP endorses them.  I was give a business card kasi magulo dog ko. Hehe... So they must be good... But i never had the chance to contact or visit them because of my busy sked.

^^Feeling ko sakin mas mahal pa kasi mukang kekelanganin na one-on-one training yung isang aso ko. He's pretty dog-aggressive kasi. I hope they release a deal again pag may extra money na ko. I'd like to try it for my more mellow dog. Hehe.

actually before i bought the deal from highlife, i brought Marcy (my dog) to BetterDog to have her evaluated first, i don't know kasi if she's eligible to join the FD1 class. When I got there, the people there were so accomodating, I actually got to talk with Jojo & Tina Isorena (the owners) and with Brad Feliciano (the trainer). We talked for about an hour siguro, they observed Marcy and gave her some treats to see if she's trainable and they brought out their own pets to see how Marcy would react w/ other dogs and if she's sociable enough. You can bring your dog there too for evaluation, it's totally free. I thought my dog had problems too, but they told me she's just a normal dog -- a very smart one pa raw Baka your pets are eligible to join the group class too, no need to pay an additional fee for a private class. Usually ata those who opt to have a private class are those who can't do weekend sessions.

I think I'm just making excuses not to bring my dogs there, kasi natatakot ako na baka nga masabing aggressive yung isang aso ko. Hehe.

What breed is Marcy? It's so cool you'll be training your dog. The agility classes sound great, kaso tamad mga Shih Tzu ko, hanggang obedience classes lang siguro kami.

^thanks sis! I wasn't able to go to the pet hotel upstairs, looks really clean and they seem to really take care of the pets there.

brad feliciano is our instructor, we just had our 1st session with dogs last sunday. we were taught how to walk our dogs on loose leash and marcy got a prize

ask ko lang.may dog kasi kami.bigay lang.so wala kami idea sa birthday niya.tapos yung nanay niya askal lang pero hindi siya mukang askal.recently nagkaron siya ng mga sugat.nakakain ata ng something na malansa or what.then sabi ng iba,paliguan daw with sulfur soap .yung yellow.natuyo naman yung mga sugat niya pero parang kinakagat or kinakamot niya tapos nagsusugat ulit.tapos hindi na siya masyado kumakain.puro milk lang.tapos pinapainom namin siya ng cetirizine para hindi siya mangati.tapos napansin namin parang may singaw siya.worried na kami kasi sobrang pumayat na siya at matamlay.never pa siya nalagyan ng kahit anong vaccine or what.basta hindi pa siya nakakapagpacheckup sa vet. so,saan po kaya siya [textspeak!] dalhin?yung mura lang and malapit lang sa imus cavite.thank you sa help!

Sis, regarding vet services, bihira yung mura lang, mapa-askal or pure breed kasi, iisa ang presyo ng gamot nila. As pet owners kailangan talaga natin maglabas ng pera para sa kanila to keep them healthy. I suggest to take her to the nearest vet na makita nyo para maagapan. Loss of appetite, lethargy and weight loss ang signs na may hindi maganda sa kanila so kailangan na sya macheck ng vet. May worms sya panigurado kaya kailangan din sya madeworm, importante din yung vaccines kasi yan lang talaga panlaban nila sa parvo, distemper, hepatitis, etc. Yung sugat nya, marami kasing causes ang skin problems, pwedeng galis, bacterial/fungal infection, allergy, etc. Okay lang naman sulfur soap kaso kung food related or galis na, hindi sapat ang soap para gumaling sya. I suggest na bigyan nyo sya ng water with sugar or dextrose powder para di sya madehydrate, pwede rin kayo magbigay ng boiled meat walang buto, salt o kahit anong seasoning at onting rice para kumain sya. Qc area kasi ako kaya wala akong masuggest na vet clinic malapit sa inyo, Pet Express MOA lang yung alam kong malapit sa Cavite hehe. Magtanong-tanong kayo san ang mga vets sa area nyo, para mabigyan sya ng tamang diagnosis and medication.
