Davao City and Samal Island thread 7

got back last week. nabitin ako sa bakasyon. parang konti lang nagawa namin... kasi naman kasama si bebe sa trip kaya hirap gumalaw. we were able to rent Explore Davao's boat -- masaya naman, nagpictorial kami dun at nagpig out. hehe. we also went to Paradise - nag-enjoy naman baby ko. relax lang dun kasi lahat ng kailangan mo andun na. that's it i guess... di kami nakapag-white water rafting kasi namamahalan mga cousins ko! grrrr. next year na lang ulit.

HOTEL/ ACCOMMODATION:
maraming inns and murang hotel sa Davao. Depende talaga sa itinerary at activities mo kung san ka dapat magstay. Kung city tour at gimmick mode ka, sa heart ka ng city which is Royale House. At night, may walking distance na night market. malapit ito sa JS Gaisano Ilustre, City hall, San Pedro Church, Bangkerohan, Chinatown, Sta. Ana Wharf.
Kung plano niyong mag-beach like Costa Marina, Paradise, Chema's by the sea, i suggest you look for a hotel close to Lanang. Hotels like Tropika, Grand Regal, Waterfront are some of them. I'm sure may mga inns din sa area na ito. medyo malapit ito if you plan to go ziplining.

FOOD:
masarap kumain sa Entree ng Apo View -- pero just like any other hotel, it costs 500 for buffet lunch.
we ate at Tiny Kitchen sa may Marfori -- Spanish food like Paella, Callos, etc.
di ko na-experience ang Lachi's but we ate at Sugar Munch. okay din cakes and pastries nila.
try niyo sa Pard's (parang chicken barbeque joint lang) -- masarap and super affordable. 

HANG OUT:
Pop's is a popular place. Maganda ang interior niya and music. Pero since may smoking ban sa Davao, most people stay outside the bar to smoke. Sayang.

Cups and lowercase (Torres) - Fridays and Saturdays ang acoustic nights. Comfortable din sa ang mga couch nila.

Matina Town Square - kahit anong araw may tao dito. maraming bars/ restos na pagpipilian

hello mga sis,

mag-ask sana ako ng help nyo. will be going to Davao with my wife and kid, plus my parents and parents-in-law. kami mag-shoulder ng buong tour kaya medyo mabigat sa bulsa.   

total is 6 adults + 1 kid.

anyways, naka-book na ticket namin for Jan 21-24. bale 4 days/3 nights. so problem na lang is accommodation, itinerary and how to move around.

we tried to inquire with some travel agency pero mahal ang quotes sa amin. cheapest was P11k+ per person. so for 6 adults, total would be P67k+ na. bottom line is hindi namin kakayanin kapag ganun kamahal. 

we decided na mag-DIY na lang. ang gusto namin maging itinerary is as follows:

Day 1 -- Arrive in Davao, City Tour
Day 2 -- Eden Nature Park, Free Time
Day 3 -- Pearl Farm Resort, Free Time
Day 4 -- Free Time, Return to Manila

here are my questions, sana mapaunlakan nyo..

1. madali lang ba mag-commute sa Davao? ano ba mga modes of transpo within the city and fare rates?

2. may mare-recommed ba kayong car/van for rent with driver para sa City Tour? pwede pahingi ng contact info?

3. saan the best mag-stay na hotel/inn/lodge/resort based sa mga pupuntahan namin above? cheapest option sana ang target namin.

4. paano pumunta ng Pearl Farm Resort? may specific boat ba na sasakyan? magkano ang fare at ano ang time schedule?

5. magkano entrance fee for Day tour sa Pearl Farm? need ba ng reservation to go there?

ang gusto ko talagang gawin is mag-white water rafting & river tubing.

Try nyo tiny kitchen and cafe demitasse (sp?)sa f. Torres sarap ng food kaso marami laging tao. I've tried lachi and winner ang pork ribs, yung cakes d ganun kasarap for us.

Hukad @ abreeza mall ang sinubukan namin kahapon. Masarap yun nilaga na beef pero the rest nun order namin d ganun kasarap (kare2x, dinuguan, kinilaw, chicken pandan). Specialty raw nila e crispy pata kaso d kami umorder.

Nung 26th nag TGIF kami sa abreeza kasi wala pa kami maisip na gusto na kainin. Sobrang not worth it ang 2k meal para sa 3pax kasi nagka diarrhea kami sira ang bakasyon. D siguro mabilis turn over sa food na inorder namin kaya d fresh ang food.  Better talaga pag nasa davao kumain sa mga local resto.

D kami nakapag luz kinilaw pa at yellow fin greaseless chicken.

May mga small hotels na tinatayo akong napansin sa obrero at f. Torres. Sana may mga mag-open na hotels na mura pero ok talaga.

update update! haha.. nakapagbook na kami sa PF via Asiatravel..pero Feb 28 na lang ang available, which is our last night sa Davao. Kaya ang mangyayari siguro ay sa first day namin ang city tour. we're planning to stay sa Royale House for our first night. paano ba pumunta dito from the airport? di ko pa alam ang activity namin sa second and third day..hehe

We're planning a Davao trip first week of March. Two persons. 3 days 2 nights. The thing is, both of us do not know anything sa Davao, no idea kung anong pwedeng puntahan or saan magstay. We just want to see Davao.
