for me if it's something that you are going to put on my face daily I will make sure it's of good quality.  I have sensitive skin as well and ang hirap talaga kapag biglang nagkabreakout

:/ True enough, nakikita nya siguro talaga I spend so much on these stuff. Worth it naman for me.

Worth it to spend on skin care than makeup kasi less makeup needed pag skin is good. Then for makeup kahit cheapy din okay a! Like Avon and blush ng tony moly okay na kahit di nars orgasm. Or revlon. And sephora. Like naked. Essentials Lang I think you need. Kasi enhancement Lang naman ang makeup :)

If you have exta money why not. Basta all your priorities are met including emergency money. Once lang tayo mabuhay and bakit di natin pagandahin ang sarili natin, we deserve the best :-)

Kung afford mo why not? Basta ba you will not resort to borrowing money or live outside your means. :)

yes, that's the only way to hide the effects and fight mother nature in the process.
huwag lang too over the top or obsessive much,  and most esp if it fits the budget.

time and time again, with me i've seen and experienced that the more popular brands tend to work  better on my skin.  but there's still quite a few drugstore brands that work well,  but it takes a lot of trial and error of the lesser brands to find that one item that is on par with the brand items.

(i think the question is interpreted 2 ways,   to collectively spend on either one OR  to spend more on one over the other,  i did the former btw...)

We have to admit - beauty product that give the best results are usually the most expensive in the market. Lalo na if we're talking about skin care products. Although there are a few exceptions, generally the good quality cosmetics/products costs more because a lot of research & development was invested by these companies before releasing these products.

But let's be practical. We need to differentiate the "nice to have" from the "must-have/essential beauty products". Knowing our "wants" from our "needs" would help us decide which items we can splurge on and save.

I would splurge on skin care products - lalo na ngayon na I'm in my early 30s na. Buying good quality skin care product is like a good investment for me. You will reap the results later on. This would include serums, moisturizers, eye cream and SPF creams.

When it comes to cosmetic products, I developed a system:
SPLURGE - foundation, lipstick, eyeshadows (it should be paraben-free and non-comedogenic)
SAVE - eye mascara since normally the expiration date for this is 3mos only so parang sayang lang if I buy a MAC mascara for P1K+ when I can get the same results for a P400+ Maybelline one. There are also a lot of drugstore products like Revlon na may good quality blushes.

Be smart ladies! Hindi ibig sabihin na sinabi ng favorite beauty blogger nyo to buy a certain product worth 4K+ e bibilin nyo na agad. You need to do your research. I'm sure there are dupes for certain makeup products that would cost 3x less than the high-end version.  :D

I agree. Minsan kasi the good, high-quality or effective products are produced by the high-end brands, so mapapagastos ka talaga if you want results. For example, kerastase, estee lauder, l'occitane and shiseido are pricier than average sa atin, but I am usually very satisfied whenever I buy something from these brands. Very rare ako makabili ng something I ended up not liking. Sure, there are cheaper alternatives out there, but to be honest, minsan wala naman akong nakikitang pagbabago even after having used some products for a long time.

I'm not a brand snob. I'm not saying all high-end products are better than the others. Agree pa nga ako na the cheaper the better sana, haha, but minsan kakabili ko ng more affordable products in the hopes of finding a dupe of the expensive one I tried before, eh I ended up spending a lot na rin pala.

If it makes you look better and feel better and if you have the funds, I say go for it!

My philosphy for skincare and makeup is go with whatever works for your skin.

For skincare I use SKII down to Hada Labo

For makeup my mainstay foundation is Revlon while my lipsticks tend to mid-higher end.

hiyangan lang talaga. ang aspeto na nakakaubos naman talaga ng pera is yun trial and error phase. But whatever works for my skin, I stick to it be it high or low end then kapag naimmune na skin ko, time to move on to a different product.

But what I really splurge on are skin vitamins..iba pa rin kasi talga kapag inner yun glow :)

for skin care, YES! lalo na kung dun ka hiyang and it enhances your features.  pero sa cosmetic f there's a cheaper version or dupe better save nalang. Pero case to case basis din naman kung gustong gusto mo and if you budget then why not spend diba.

For me, mas gusto kong maginvest in skin care products. I don't like makeup very much since ayaw kong madaming ilagay sa face ko. The only make up that i use is lip tint and powder foundation.

The thing in buying dupes and alternatives is that sometimes, you still cannot get the satisfaction or even the "effect" you want. So you keep buying and buying dupes then in the end, hindi mo rin ma-achieve whatever it is that you want in that product so you might end up just buying yung product na gusto mo talaga. Nasayang lang din in a way yung pera na pinambili ng dupes kasi binili mo din yung gusto mo talaga in the end.

I just remembered the last time na pumunta kami ng friend ko sa Rustans and the staff from Lancome gave her a sample of facial wash ang ganda nung facial wash natuyo mga pimples nya price is at 1500php I think.  When we went back to Lancome hindi niya binili kasi ang mahal daw ang binili nya ibang brand half of the price.

Skincare! I used to buy lots of makeup, tapos dahil uneven skin tone ko, binibili ko mamahaling full coverage liquid and powder foundations to look flawless. When I started investing on skin care, and they don't have to be expensive, I don't need to wear that much make up anymore. Baby powder, blush on, lippie, ok na.

Not always.. Sometimes there are products that are even better than the branded ones but we don't know because our culture is so brand-conscious.
