^I have a VUL din kasi and the coverage would be more than enough to shoulder the funeral expenses. In that sense, di pa rin ako magiging pabigat sa maiiwan ko.  ;) Since I had that VUL, naging panatag na yung loob ko na whatever happens to me, may makukuha ang family ko.

My source of worry right now is if ever mawalan ako ng trabaho or magkasakit ako, doon ko ma-buburden ang family ko since I don't have an emergency fund yet. I'd rather direct my savings to building up my EF than paying for my memorial plan at this point na medyo mababa pa ang income ko.

Hi sises, maybe u want to consider other memorial plans other than st. peter. Its APEC plan. You may check the website, apecplans.com  The main office is in Chatnam Makati. And if you want to know more about the plan, I can refer you to someone who can explain the products. :)

my father died last december, my sister has a plan care of APEC, ok naman sana kaso nung tinignan namin ang package ng arlington, mas makakamura pa kame to get their package than to use the plan.

i would still buy a plan  ;D mas convenient if meron nito...sa nagsasabing meron namang insurance money, sorry, hindi naman agad napaprocess ang dead certificate, so nailibing na si patay tsaka ka palang makakakuha ng insurance benefit  :P

@chefron, I'm sorry to hear about your father. My Condolences.

Its really weird that you say that though.
Our first baby also died right after he was born due to
congenital abnormalities. We were issued a death certificate
just 2 days after.

We buried him in the province and the death certificate is
one of the requirements prior to burial. We didn't have a memorial
plan btw.

In fact, if you look at St. Peter's and APEC Plan's claim requirements
the death certificate is one of the requirements.

So I don't know why you recommend getting a plan as opposed to
life insurance on the virtue of the possibility that the death certificate
might be delayed. They both require a death certificate before you can
claim the benefits.

I guess you didn't bother to google the claim requirements of memorial
plans hehe.

^Baka it's because iba yung "beneficiaries" for an insurance plan and a memorial plan?
Memorial Plan kasi anybody who died, a family member, can use it.
Insurance Plan is specific to a person, and his beneficiaries.

That is a very valid point.. if you are in a situation where
people expect you to shoulder a death in your family..

Good thing, I'm not in a situation like that. If I would
get a memorial plan, it would only be for myself  :D

the hospital issued a death certificate right away but yung galing ng munisipyo matagal sya, maybe because namatay papa ko during christmas season, i dont know, kase di agad yun nabigay ni arlington. although yung cremation was set on a holiday....actually, infairness to APEC, madali silang kausap, fill up the forms, kinuha naman nila si father agad transfer sa punenarya even without the death certificate coming from the hospital..
insurance claim, we called Philam and told us that it will take 7-10 days bago sya maprocess, for evaluation etc pa daw...maybe since holiday nga, kaya ganun...atsaka kung ikaw din yung namatayan, hindi mo din agad maiisip maclaim yung insurance sa dami mong need asikasuhin at intindihin.kahit na ang dami naming pwedeng mag asikaso, hindi na din sya naisip unahin.  :-\
basta the important thing is dapat may pera ka talaga hehe hindi biro mamatay sa panahon ngayon, magastos sya.

@chefron, I only ever used the death cert from the hospital...
Si philam humingi ng NSO certified death cert? i.e.

Hindi ganun ang naiimagine ko.
Sa isip ko, sasabihin ko [textspeak!] kay agent tapos sya na bahala
lahat. San yung agent nyo? Hindi ba sya tumulong.

chefron: Condolonces to you and your family.

I'll still stick to my plan of not prioritizing a memorial plan for me. My sisters and I got memorial plans for our parents na. Like what I've said before, I'd rather save the funds for building my EF. I'm not saying naman na I won't be procuring a memorial plan for me-- ever. It's just that securing an EF is more important for me than a memorial plan, again, at this point. Anyway, to each his/her own. :)

mxherr5: Thanks for the agent tip. I'll inquire nga from my Sunlife agent gaano kabilis ang processing ng death benefit claims.

hi! called up St Peter kanina, ang mahal na pala, dati kasi sa father ko 2011 direct kami 18k+ binayaran namin at wala pang credit card that time. Sa ngayon Marikina branch almost 24k na pero puwede na credit card. Nag-research kasi ako, may nag-offer ng St Peter 550 pinaka mura eh payable in 5 years so lumalabas na P33,000, kapag cash less 10% so total is P29,700.00 taas pa rin siya.

@mxherr5,  yes, ito ang pinakamurang plan niya. Parang lugi, correct me if im wrong ha kasi kapag cash ko ang plan, lugi ako ng 5k, ang challenge is at the time of death dapat may naka stand by akong 24k. I havent inquired pa sa forest lawn kung magkano na ang memorial service, last 2011 nung sa father ko, 20k ang memorial service. I dont know sa ngayon, will inquire pa. Teka, perosa St peter may money back yata.
