Yup.  I opine yun mga taxi na Vios run hard kaya they need air though technically by design that shouldn't be.  Still, kapag Toyota ang plus nito ay you can get parts for it easily. 

Korean cars have nice warranties pero no idea how they are as second-hand as all I know of were the first generations that came out here.  Rode on a Hyundai na Elantra na bago and nice naman siya.  Parang Honda Civic na rin though no idea sa cost.

There are car clubs for each make and kung 4WD ka ay there are clubs even for that.  My late friend nga member ng group for Harley owners as he collects those - sigh, ika-100th day na niya bukas

Not sure if pwede to openly post here about other forums but its tsikot.com yun alam ko then that hosts various car clubs.  Hindi na ako updated though.  Do note ay awareness pa rin ang needed ha kahit member ka ng car club as there are some who join just so they can expand their business dealings.

OT: Did anyone here posted na ba feedbacks kung you get a car na kinuha muli ng bank?  Are those more often horror stories sa pagdating sa maintenance or is it just urban myth?

Thanks again CityHunter! Learning a lot from you. Wala talag akong alam sa cars kasi. Hehe. May nagsabi sa akin na 2 drivers na mahina daw ang hatak ng hyundai elantra pero I really don't know. I'm looking into getting a second hand Inova sana kasi sabi nila tipid daw sa gas/diesel and maintenance madali.

By the way, ano ba ang pros and cons ng gas vs diesel?

We're buying our first family car and are torn between the ff. models: Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage. We prefer gas over diesel so anyone who has reviews or remarks on the gas variants of the 2 brands  would be highly appreciated.

Suffice enough to know, that most cars manufactured in the 1980s and beyond are already designed with fuel injection in place. Before fuel injected engines in the 80s, carburetor was used. So if you are buying cars that were manufactured in the 1970s (example, volkswagen beetles) you'll see carburetor type fuel system in place.

Correct si Sis freelancer babe that most modern cars nowadays are fuel injected na ang deliver ng fuel system to the engine.  Back then it was just diesels.  Karburador yun before and though not as fuel efficient as fuel injected ones ay its quite easy to troubleshoot naman.  Yun electronic fuel injection o EFI ay yun may computer naman na which is even more of a fuel efficient system but prone to problems kapag nagluko ang computer.  This is what happened when a lot of cars got submerged sa floods back then like Ondoy.  Hindi na madadaan basta basta yun as the circuits get fried.  Best remedy kung alam mo lulubog ang kotse mo sa baha is take out the battery that way no kuryente flows to fry things then dry all components using a contact cleaner of the best quality.

Critical na may idea ka ano ang service history ng kotse and observe mo muna how the owner drives.  Isama mo sa test drive at siya muna ipamaneho mo as you make palusot that you want him or her to explain the quirks before you take over and ikaw naman mag-confirm kung true nga.

Major major na pansinin mo yun crash worthiness niya ha.  This is why mas favored ang car dahil may pwet at nguso to cushion the impact.  Better rin na 4 door than 2 door para yun pillars can protect you and your passengers as well as have exits for everyone.  Fuel efficiency and durability comes only next.  Madaling mag-ipon to buy a new car pero mahirap maghanap ng kaya bumuhay ng patay.

my first car was a hyundai i10... ok lang.. mejo magastos sa gas pag long driving saka syempre dahil maliit mejo scary i long distance... now im planning to buy a toyota vios 1.3 ive visited a lot of dealerships parang pinaka magandang deal is yung sa bicutan.. well same lang naman price pero sa freebies at service nagkatalo! if u want refer ko kayo dun sa agent ko dami  nya freebies and discount na binigay haha feeling ko nga wala na syang comission nun eh

What's the most fuel-efficient family car, 8-seater plus?

If its a car mahirap maghanap na kakasya ang 8 not unless its a custom make like a limo.  Ideal you get a van of a good make na may good reputation rin.  I like the models na may sliding doors sa magkabila. 

Habulin mo reliability, crash worthiness, easy access sa parts and service.  Fuel efficiency depends rin sa driving habits mo, what load the vehicle usually has, and yun tires. 

Mas comfortable sa van kung marami kayo than a SUV or AUV.  I like yun tulad sa Carnival though I don't think it can seat 8 comfortably.  Mga vans ang malamang choice mo.  Toyota still has a good reputation.  Nissan makes good engines and affordable naman.  Mitsu okay naman mga 4 wheel drive nila - though I do hope their customer service improves na.  Wala pa Honda na van here.  Korean makes mix reviews pa ako and totally avoid ChiCom makes.

Kaso parang big na ang Van for me e, Although parang cheaper sya, lalo pag 2nd hand.
Balak ko Sana mga AUV/APV/SUV/MPV Lang, parang FX Lang (Revo, Adventure, Avanza, Crosswind) na kasya driver + 1 sa front, 3-4 sa middle tapos kahit 2-4 sa back. Mga 6 adults and 2 kids Kasi. Pag car Kasi e overloading na yun. Baka Kasi ko ting dagdag Lang sa price and fuel, Pwede na bigger than a car.

Notice mo AUVs don't get used sa US and Europe?  Kasi hindi pasado sa safety standards.  Believe me, mag-ipon ka na lang to buy a more sigurado na sasakyan than hope na hindi kayo madisgrasya while using that.  Admittedly, tempting ang AUV but if you're going that route you may be better off commissioning a custom jeepney with brand new engine, disc brakes, power steering, etc.  Mas tatagal pa.  No idea nga lang if kaya na kabitan ng mga air bags derived from carcasses of old vehicles.

Take note rin if you are to get one na may turbo.  You need to learn how to use that well.  Ideal sana kung tulad sa Japan and US may mga mini vans but maliban sa Previa and Carnival no idea ako sa others na.  I question those from Subic more so yun sliding door often on the wrong side.  Wala na kasing mga Lite Ace na lumalabas dito ng Toyota

Another is the engine and syempre comfort.  Some tend to sport small engines so kapag malayuan na o hindi naalagaan ng maayos in a couple of years puro sakit na ng ulo. 

SUV check mo kung need mo talaga ang 4 wheel drive.  More often not a lot naman do really need that so you can go with those na wala.  Malakas rin sa gas more often ang mga SUVs

Avanza parang kotse na ginawang parang FX   REVO okay naman save that if they bang the doors a lot ay more often madaling wala na sa alignment - and the fact that medyo questionable ang safety factor.  Adventure mas nice ang porma but I find it smaller inside than a REVO.  Crosswind halos ganun rin but Isuzu makes good engines last I know.

Hindi na ako updated sa mga vehicles out sa local market but the likes of the Lite Ace ang fit.  Yun Suzuki na APV okay sana save medyo maliit ang makina for me.  And no idea how good ang support o parts availability sa other areas na hindi urban.  Always factor yun Murphy's Law na maaring magluko when you least expected it.  That's the advantage of going something available halos kahit saan.

We are set to buy our first car. Our options before ay between Mirage and Vios but after much consideration, we opted for Vios 1.3G A/T.

Dalawa lang kami ng husband ko and wala pang baby so ok na ang vios for us.

^very well said. I'm not against as well to other brand. Since we cannot afford Mercedes and BMW. We settled on something much more affordable. We chose between hyundai, toyota and honda. We have the latter part cause we contemplated on market value 5-10 years from now, the parts is it easy to find? But then again it depends on the person after all it's your money to spend.

Thanks for the tips. For 90's model, even 80's model, nakikita ko are Toyota, Mitsubishi, Volks, Benz, Nissan. When ba nagkaroon ng Honda? Parang I don't see 80's model of Honda kasi e.

Our first cars back in the 80's, nung pinanganak na ako, was a Volks German Beetle (ninakaw ng talyer) and a Mercedes Benz (na ginawang kargahan/delivery) kasi matibay talaga sila. The cost was 6k for a beetle and 20k for a Benz then. Sayang nga di na-preserve vintage cars.

I still plan to buy a cheap (50k-100k) and old car (pref 95 and up yung matibay pa ang body).
Or if family car na, 2nd hand Adventure, Crosswind (pricey), Innova (better than) Avanza.
Nasa 300k-400k na ang cheapest price kasi ng iba, mga 2005 up model.

Noong 80's bata pako, matibay ang car body kasi umaakyat kami sa mga cars parked sa neighborhood namin at tumatalon kami dun eh, di naman nayuyupi or nagagasgasan. Lolz.

Most of the Picanto and Alto I see are repossessed cars na, and cheap price na like 170k na lang ang value nila. I don't like them ang baba kasi ng upuan sa loob. I'm not comfortable and feel unsafe.

Hi! Approved na car loan ko sa BPI.. pero undecided pa rin what car should I get. 
2nd car namin pero this is my first car.. yung car namin kasi gamit ni hubby sa work. Mirage kasi di daw pweding lagyan ng alarm yung GLX model kaya parang nawalan ako ng gana, Hyundai I10 kaya? Small car prefer ko.
