Immigration officers, how to deal

teka mga sisses, ask ko lang, lahat ba itong pangyayaring ito ay sa budget terminals? i mean the IOs being mahigpit? and full of questions? never ko kasi na-experience na matanong too the max ng mga IOs sa centennial airport (terminal 2). ang alala ko lang talaga is to act properly when facing them, and dress properly too...yung tipong hinde mukhang OFW ang get-up (no offense to OFW) pero di naman mukhang magfa-fashion show ka naman din...basta decent enough...

OFW get up? WTH???!!! not all OFW's are the same. you're generalizing my dear! for sure my OFW friends will react to this statement of yours when they get to read this!

@amie30: just teach your brother to be respectful, courteous all the time. smile din, greet the officer as soon as you approach them. there's no harm being nice, ilang minutes lang naman yun. don't be scared! nagtatanong lang naman sila, just be prepared of the docs if they ask for anything and answer politely

sa totoo lang dito lang talaga sa pinas mahigpit at daming eche-bureche ang mga IO's ang haba pa ng pila tagal kasi nila magtanong sometimes pero in my case mabilis lang naman basta complete ka sa lahat ng docs na hanap nila, pero yung ibang mga nakakasabay ko di sila nakakaalis naOL sila. kawawa sayang yung mga nagastos nila. sana etong sistema na eto mabago.

^^amazing heart, halos lahat ng napuntahan kong countries mausisa ang mga immigration officers.  sa singapore lang siguro ang hindi in my experience.  sa bangkok nga super sungit nila specially sa mga puti e.

^talaga? so lucky me pala kasi in my experience diko naexperience yung mapaghigpitan ng IO's been to europe uae and some part of asia pero so far ok naman wala naman problem. sa IO's lang ng pinas ang naobserve ko na super strict nila sa mga palabas ng bansa. .

^well, i haven't been to europe yet so i can't comment about that.  but in the countries i've been to i've observed that they can be a bit strict.

I just noticed mas mahigpit nga yung mga IO's sa budget terminal. There was a time nga na muntik na akong hindi paalisin going to SG. I was working for the gov't then and hinanapan ako ng clearance. I raised my voice and asked why my brother was allowed to leave when he doesn't have clearance din. Siguro napahiya kasi ang tawag sa kanya is boss. So sabi niya, babawiin yung sa brother ko... Until I told her na hindi permanent yung position ko sa gov't. Yun, pumayag din. And sabi pa, next time daw, don't contest na lang. So hayaan na lang silang mag power trip at all times?

When I left for the States naman, walang kaproble-problema. Super bait yung IO na kausap ko. And in less than 2 minutes, ok na.

Pagdating naman sa ibang countries, no questions asked. Even sa US, ang daling kausap.

^sis, parang ganun nga yung general consensus ano, sa budget terminals mas mahihigpit ang mga IOs. pero bakit kaya? pare-pareho lang naman nagbayad lahat ng passengers. ako freelance writer, ang natatanong lang naman sa akin is san ako nagsusulat. although di ko pa natry mag travel abroad through budget airline. pero wala naman major interrogation.

hello sis, share ko lang yung experience ng officemate ko who was supposed to go to europe last night. naharang siya sa immigration because wala siyang clearance ng DOST since scholar siya dun. kaya if DOST scholar kayo, make sure you have your clearance dahil hahanapin sa inyo yun. Mahigpit daw talaga ang IO daw ngayon..

hi mga sis! please help me naman. flight ko po sa 30 papuntang dubai and super kaba ko.pero authenticated na po yung sponsorship sakin ng friend ko and my company i.d ako and certificate of employment with original visa and eticket po. nakapagwork napo ako sa riyadh as a medical secretary. ngayon im nervous baka ma OL ako. may mga advice po ba kayo para sakin?thank you po.

From my experiences, theyre generally very nice naman, yung mga IO dito sa Philippines, nakipagkwentuhan lang saken. yung IOs sa Macau and HK, ang tnanong lang Purpose and Duration of trip.

Sa US naman. sa NY-JFK, super nice sabi nya saken para daw akong doll. haha. siguro kasi super curly yung hair ko nun tapos super smile ako sa kanya. Wala ako nilagay sa occupation kaya tinanong nya ako, sabi ko magmemedschool ako, sabi nya I'm too cute to be a doctor daw. Very friendly and welcoming sila, pati sa California-LAX, friendly yung IO, purpose of trip lang ask nya. Sabi ko shopping tapos tinawanan nya ako.

Sa Detroit mahigpit sila, di sila nagssmile and parang suspicious sila ganun. May lasabay kami Pinoy pinauwi kasi may dala sha madami tshirt na parepareho, giveaway daw ng sister nya kasi may laundry business yung sis nya. Di nya dineclare. Dapat talaga honest para din hindi ka kinakabahan.

My tip: Always dress smart. Dapat presentable and cheerful and confident. Kung pasyal lang naman talaga then dapat hindi ka kabado dba? And the best advice: pray na mapatapat sa mga mababait na tao. God is good and God is with us naman lagi kaya smile lang

Tama sis. Be presentable smart casual hindi yung going to the beach casual, be smart looking and be smart at the same time esp when answering questions. Be organized as well hindi yung nagkakalkal ka ka sa harap ng gamit mo na di mo alam aakalain nila you are fidgeting or hiding something

^I agree. Just dress smart, act smart, be confident and do not lie. Pag alam nilang kinakabahan ka, all the more they'll be suspicious of you kaya it's possible na mainterrogate ka.

For pretty girls travelling for leisure, dress appropriately. Napaka-suspicious nila coz rampant nowadays ang sex workers sa mga kalapit na bansa.

And of course tama yung isang sis na tin dito, pray that God's favor be with you sa bawat taong makakausap mo para walang hassle.

My sister is working sa Genting as casino dealer. Na-visit na namin sya dun last 2009, with my bro and sis. Complete naman kami ng docs like authenticated invitation letter, hotel bookings, etc. So, wala kami naging prob sa immigration (actually sa NAIA Terminal 3 ito).

But my sister (from Genting) called me last week. She said na may friend daw sya na hindi pinaalis papuntang KL kasi wala daw tatak or docs from Malaysian Embassy, I am not really sure kung ano 'yung sinasabi nya. But naisip ko, maybe invitation letter or something na related doon.

Well, actually, bibisita kami ulit ng isang sister ko sa KL, sa October, dadalawin namin 'yung sister namin doon.

Pero, 'yung flight ng sister ko eh via Cebu Pacific, Manila to KL / KL to Manila, October 18 to 23.

Eto 'yung prob ko ngayon. 'Yung flight ko kasi eh via Air Asia, Clark to Kota Kinabalu, stay ako from October 15 to 17, then Kota Kinabalu to Singapore, stay from October 17 to 19, then via Tiger Airways, Singapore to KL, stay from October 19 to 23. Bale sa KL na kami magkita-kita ng mga sisters ko.

Paalisin kaya ako in case? Complete naman docs ko, airline tickets, hotel bookings, COE, company ID, USS ticket, pera, etc. Except dun sa invitation letter from Kota Kinabalu and Singapore. Purely leisure lang naman kasi talaga ako and first out-of-country solo trip ko ito. Natatakot tuloy ako kasi medyo malapit na trip ko.

May naka-experience na ba here ng ganito sa Clark/ DMIA?

i think invitation letter is not necessary lalo na pagleisure and asian trips only.
