^ I think, more than the caterpillar in her food, the issue of the complainant was how Chicboy personnel handled her complaint. Hindi man lang daw nag-apologize kasi and they were allegedly rude.

As for comparing caterpillars to maggots, I think hindi tamang i-compare. Maggots thrive on rotting food whereas caterpillars, as we all know from elementary science, eat fresh green leaves. Hehe. Remember in other countries like Thailand, and certain parts of Australia, delicacy ang certain kinds of worms.

Kidding aside, may pagkukulang talaga sa paglilinis ng veggies, if the allegation were true. But what aggravated the situation was the inept handling of the incident.

^Actually, the excuse seems plausible.  If they chop the kangkong really into small bits, then whatever's mixed in it should be chopped too.

Still not sure who to believe here, but someone who just wants to destroy Chicboy would not go as far as putting his/her real name in an open letter. So at least in that aspect, the complainant has credibility.

I also didn't like the way Chicboy phrased their statement in their facebook page.  It sounded immature and over-defensive.  They keep harping on "the competition" as if they have a "Jollibee vs. McDo"-type rivalry with anyone.  Meron ba?  Parang wala naman.

A demolition job will only be effective if there's a specific competitor that will benefit from the destroyed reputation.  In this case, who benefits?  If it's just the "competition in general" (which would mean the hundreds of budget restaurants out there) then a concerted demolition job doesn't seem to be worth the effort.

''jollibee vs. Mcdo''

take note sis, mang inasal is under Jollibee Food corporation..

Kaya sana malinawan itong issue na 'to..

I cut & pasted para mabasa ninyo...

To our Patrons and Facebook friends,

Thank you for showing us your support regarding the incident that was spread over the internet and apologies for not getting back to you immediately.
Any person or entity accused of anything can easily deny the accusation.
Instead, we encourage you to look at the evidence and judge for yourself if this is possible.

At Chic-Boy, we aim to provide you, not only delicious and affordable food, but food that is safe for consumption.
We invite you to visit this link to see photos of our commissary so you can see how much we value your safety:

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.215826455096895.59483.100000086252488&type=3

Unfortunately, in the food and restaurant industry, the sad truth is that finding foreign objects in your food is a normal occurrence.
This is not the first time it happened to a restaurant and we are quite certain that this will not be the last.
The best any restaurant, including Chic-Boy, can do is be strict in practicing proper food handling and preparation and conduct regular cleaning of the store so that such incidents will not occur.

If there's anything we've learned from the incident, it is that people are very quick to comment. Because people heard one side of the story, they already assumed that it was true or that it was the whole story. They forget that a story always has two sides.

Much as we'd like to air Chic-Boy Timog's side of the story, our lawyers advised us to no longer release any statements as we have begun taking legal action regarding this matter. We hope you understand.

However, we thank you for your concern and giving us the opportunity to express our side.

Thank you for patronizing Chic-Boy and we hope we have your continued support and patronage.

Sincerely,

The Management of Pier One Bar and Grill Holdings Corporation
Franchisor of Chic-Boy "Chicken at Baboy" Restaurant

kahit saan pwede mangyari ito lalo na sa nagmamadaling magluto this is my personal experience sa jollibee blumentrit were in ang dumi ng c.r nila hindi na yata naglilinis ang mga crew kasi ginagamit ata ng mga taga palengke sometimes yung plato nila hindi ganun kalinis may kanin pa sa tinidor kasi mabilisan sila, marami pa sa iba kaya dapat maging vigilant din tayo.

Haha, well, they certainly changed their tone.  There's no more mention of "the competition" and there is now at least an acceptance of the possibility that the complainant wasn't making things up.  Clearly, that statement was written by a lawyer.  :D

Somebody should tell the owners to fire the manager in that branch and teach the employees how to deal with complaints about the food.

Agree, or all employees should attend customer service seminar  :D so they would know how to pacify complaining customers.

Yes, if the staffs treat the customer badly, they should get fired, that is, IF...
Most of u only heard 1 side of the story... bec im a fan of Chicboy, i also have a friend who owns CB franchise (not Timog), nakibalita ako. Sa nasagap kong balita, according to Chicboy Timog, the first thing the staff did was to apologize for the inconvenience & offer to replace the kangkong, "pasensiya na po maam, papalitan nalang po namin", but the customer was angry & kept asking how & why there was a creature in kangkong (which kahit ako would have the same reaction), with that question, hindi naman talaga alam ng taga CB ano ang sagot, kahit sila nagtataka bakit may caterpillar, so they said they will have to check the cctv camera to find out the answer, lalong nagalit si customer, they tried to pacify by saying pasensiya na po, we will just refund the amount, kaya lang galit parin si customer. what happened afterwards hindi ko pa alam kasi yun lang ang nasagap na kwento ng friend ko...
my point is, there are always 3 sides of the story, the customer, CB Timog, and the truth. sad thing is most of the people only choose to believe the customer's side kasi mas nakaka empathize tayo dahil we are always a customer of diff restos.

personally, baka kung maka react si customer OA, made a big deal out of it. Buti nga hindi pa niya nakain yung uod. this might be an issue blown out of proportion, and then sensationalized sa social media.

me too, kakain pa rin ako sa chic boy. lagi naman kaming ingat, we check to see if the utensils we will use are clean--there was one time I complained na malamig yung sisig, I asked the staff to replace it, ginawa naman nila. as a customer, kung may makita man akong ganyan, as long as hindi ko nakain yung ano man ang nakalagay dun, i can complain sa manager personally--no need to announce it to everyone. ano yan, magpapabida pa ko?

because of this incident, mas magiging aware sila sa hygiene, so mas ingat na sila at for sure magiimprove. they have to do that to stay in the business. i don't need to worry dining in sa kanila.

^oo nga sis e. i think yung simpleng pagsabi na papalitan na lang yung order at yung ililibre na lang sila is a way of showing their apology.

all restaurant owners are aware na they should be very strict when it comes to cleanliness and I would say this is not the first time na merong insect or hayup sa food.  My friend ate at Itallianis nga eh and may nakitang paa ng ipis sa pasta and we can say na it's a pure accident. Some managers would say sorry, some would pay you and some would be deadma like what happened to me before na nakakainis that I called the head office and filed a complain.  Iba't ibang tao kanya kanyang reaction. What I am saying is let's take the post of the customer of Chicboy as a precaution. Totoo sabi mo sis sa laki ng caterpillar hindi nakita ng chef? well, we should think na pwede rin namang sinadyang ilagay yun dahil galit yung chef sa manager in charge.  ;D

Hmmm. . . if you found out a restaurant was feeding you food with a big worm in it, would a simple, "pasensya na po papalitan na lang namin [yung kangkong dish]" be enough?  I mean, you would feed me more of that wormy kangkong?  That is supposed to make me feel better after I ate kangkong with essence of worm (or maybe even chopped up worm, who knows)?  No, that's an added insult.  I'd go ballistic.  The waiting staff who said that really needs a knock on the head.  Perhaps, the staff are just nervous or clueless,  I don't know but they really need more training in handling customer complaints especially since a customer who finds a worm in her food can actually sue the establishment.  Hindi pwede tatanga-t****.  Hindi porke't you offered to pay for her meal ok na.  Nobody who goes to a restaurant and pays to eat should have to suffer dirty, potentially disease causing food.  The manager (especially) and kitchen staff have to bend over backwards to appease the customer.  What if the customer got sick after eating from the restaurant? This is more than apology making sis, it's making sure your customer is ok as well as avoiding civil complaints and yes bad publicity.  As for the customer making a scene, well, like I said, if the waitress just offered to give you more wormy kangkong, di ka ba maiinis.  How is a customer supposed to react?  Siya pa ang mag-iisip na maging considerate?  Also, a public spectacle also draws attention and provides you with witnesses. You understand what I'm getting at mga sis? What would you do?
