Present Tense

Example 1.
Cristine often (teach, teaches) her child to read.
time expression: often
subject: Cristine - singular
(Answer: teaches)

Example 2.
At this moment, the thieves (slash, slashes) the victim's bag.
time expression: at this moment
subject: thieves - plural
(Answer: slash)

Example 3.
People (commit, commits) mistakes.
time expression: none (considered as present)
subject: people - plural
(Answer: commit)

HINTS: look for the expression of time then identify the subject (singular or plural)
For singular subjects, use base form of the verb + s or es
For plural subjects, use base form of the verb
If there's no time expression in the sentence, it is considered as present tense

Time Expressions can help determine the tense of the verb in a sentence.

past - yesterday, lask week, a while ago
present - now, at this moment, often, always, everyday, every weekend etc.
future - tomorrow, in a while, later next month, next year etc.

i forgot to mention that there's an exemption to this rule:
if the subject is I or You we have to use the base form of the verb.

In using "did" in a sentence, always use the base form of the verb.
TIP: never mention the verb with -d or -ed when you mention the word "did". 
This is one of the common mistakes na nababasa ko sa mga facebook statuses.

For example:
Wrong: I didn't watched that tv series last night.
Correct: i didn't watch that tv series last night.

Wrong: Did you went to Greenbelt yesterday?
Correct: Did you go to Greenbelt yesterday?

Futre Tense:

whether it's a singular or plural subject, always use the base form of the verb when you are saying something about the future.

Wrong: My relatives from New York will arrived tonight.
Correct: My relatives from New York will arrive tonight.

lost - nawala
ex. He lost her.

loose - maluwag
