It's is the short form of It is or It has

e.g. It's been a long time.

Its is more of a possessive form of it (the suject)

e.g. The airplane is huge, its wings are color blue.

Be careful with this:

"Please bear with us" not please bare with us... baka maghubad ang inaaya nyo. LOL

Also when in doubt ask Google. One way to check acceptability or usage is to check the "result stat" (directly under the search bar). The higher the result stat the higher the chance of being acceptable.

This isn't actually true anymore. Xerox has been made a verb a long time ago by Merriam-Webster (as in the dictionary)

Sometimes we are so caught up with the formal rules of grammar that we end up scared of expressing ourselves in English. There's nothing wrong with minding and following the rules but this should not be the end all and be all. Language is a tool of expression. Its primary purpose is to allow us to express our message and not to be a yard stick of excellence.

Hindi tamang mali mali ang grammar pero dapat wag itong maging hadlang para masabi natin ang ating saloobin. Kung naiintindihan ka ng kausap mo kahit papunta pa sa Quiapo ang grammar (at pronunciation) mo ok lang yun, wag lang matatakot kang magsalita dahil baka ka mapintasan na mali mali ang grammar mo.

Plus, in the dynamic "Language" world, usage overrides rules. Case in point, "unfriend" is considered a verb, thanks to FB.

imho, since im working in a call center, napansin ko lang kahit yung mga american or australian or english people na english ang first language nila eh nagkakamali parin sa grammar. hehe!

I agree with sis pressany. Like some people need help in Math Problem Solving, some people may need help in Eng Grammar. It doesn't mean they are stup*d. Of course if it's your bread and butter, then there's no room for error.

Nice one sis! super like! nagiging problem ko din to kasi instead na masabi ko kung ano gusto ko iexpress e di na lang kasi nagiging conscious ako if tama ba grammar ko or not.. hehe

It's not "tuition fee" dapat "tuition" lang kasi nagiging redundant na.
And lage kong naririnig ang "pinaka-best", i think mali to kasi pinaka na best pa? hehe (correct me if i am wrong)

belated happy birthday is correct.
kasi when you say happy belated birthday means the actual birth date is late while belated happy birthday means your greeting is late for the event.

correct me if i'm wrong.

e.g. "nabo-brought-up lagi nya ang topic tungkol don"

which I think should be "nabi-bring-up lagi ang topic tungkol don"

brought up and bring up are mistakenly used as well

Highschool teacher ko while pointing out kung sino ang magkakagroup sa isang project:

"YOU! YOU! YOU! AND YOU! BOTH OF YOU!"

--okay so pag apat pala BOTH ang tawag.

eto pa, pinagmamadali nia kaming magline-up sa labas ng room kasi merong assembly and he said:

"COME ON, FASTER! FASTER! TAKE YOUR TIME!"

Marami gumagamit ng "discuss about". It's grammatically incorrect because "discuss" is an intransitive verb, and discuss means "talk about". So when you use "discuss about" para mo ring sinabi na let's talk about about.

Whenever you use discuss, don't add "about" after it.

ako may booboo yesterday. nagstatus ako sa FB "... and it helps that i have a loving, understanding and supporting husband". o d ba? supportive dapat. tsaka lagi ko napapansin yung "i will be forever greatful for all the blessings" instead of grateful.
