US TV: Spartacus

who watches this? I just started watching this and I'm loving the goriness of the show.

ang sad lang, Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) have cancer kaya he have to quit the show.

I haven't watched this pa pero a lot of people are recommending it to me. Dami lang kasi ako pinapanuod pa kaya di ko rin to masimulan. Right after nung Spartacus, may prequel silang ginawa: Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.

^they made a prequel Gods of the Arena, I think its about the other gladiators, parang life before Spartacus came.

They've considered Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell (Michael and Linc Scofield of Prison Break) na kapalit sana ni Andy Whitfield. haha kaya lang since nalaman ko bading si Wentworth parang hindi ko na siya maimagine na babagay sa ganyan role. lol

However in September 2010, Starz announced that Whitfield's cancer had returned and he had decided not to return for season 2, then tentatively scheduled for September 2011. Starz said that the show would nevertheless continue, and planned on recasting the role of Spartacus in the wake of Whitfield's exit. Whitfield also gave his blessing for Starz to recast the role when he announced he would not return.

Andy's cancer came back and he had to drop out. That's why we got a prequel Season of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. It was only supposed to be 1 episode of season 2, but it was expanded to 6 episodes. That way it would give them time to recast Spartacus for season 2.

I watched the prequel ata! yung pinaka-unang scene is yung pinatay nila yung pinaka-master nila?

Sobrang Gory nga itong series na ito. Minsan fastforward lang ako kasi di ko ma-take yung patayan.

Pero the way it was shot is really artistic.

^hindi ko pa napapanood yung prequel, sa season 1 pa lang ako pero wala na si Spartacus sa prequel. Though long hair nga si Spartacus sa una.

ako naman like ko yung gory scenes. haha ewan weird ako mahilig ako sa mga gory films. una kong nakita yung show sa HBO and I was like daamn they cut it so i downloaded the episodes para walang cut. haha

i agree! not for the faint-hearted esp in its season ender, title palang - kill them all! haha.  but overall its a nice series. full of sex and violence.  can't wait for season 2.  sayang lang it won't be andy whitfield na as spartacus

I just finished watching season 1, this is a really good series. The goriness of this series... grabe! its more than just blood being spilled they even showed guts/intestines being spilled and what not.

pero heartbroken ako while i was watching the finale kasi I know that Andy wont be back for next season  I must say he really played the character Spartacus really good. Ang sad din he had cancer just when he is at the peak of his career. But I do wish for him to get well and for us to see him back onscreen again. It would feel different to watch season 2 of Spartacus without Andy.  I do hope his replacement would play justice to his character.

I watched this with EYES CLOSED. Para akong nakikinig na lang ng programa sa radyo. 

Could not stomach watching it harapan. But could not stay away from the story...

I think they've also recast a few other characters...like yung babaeng slave yata...not 100% just browsed through a blurb online.

just wondering lang since TV series toh, so they show this sa US television na walang cut scenes?

Naalala ko ito pala yung pinanood namin ni bf sa cd, from start to finish natapos namin ng 2 days last January. Hehe ako din mahilig sa gore kaya enjoy. Puro pakita ng katawan at lovemaking din, dun ako nagtakip ng mata. Lol. Kaya pala familiar yung babae, si xena warrior princess pala yun.

i just watched the first episode of the prequel, it feels weird not seeing Andy Whitfield.  though I know he isnt supposed to be there naman talaga, pero hay sad lang talaga.

Naevia nga yata.

They show this on cable TV, Starz or Starzz yata. Yup without cut. Kasi sa kanila naman pag-cable, you order the channel mismo. So, not everyone has access to it coz it's mahal. Which is why cable is not censored, subscribers pay premium eh, pakita na lahat. LOL.

favorite ko talaga ko! i love the action scenes hehe..tinapos ko yung season 1 at season 2, cant wait for the nest season!
