@gt76, DIY mo na lang sis as per your original plan. Most of the tourist sites are concentrated in the central city anyway. You can get in touch with our fellow GT sis maribeth who lives in Amsterdam. I'm sure she can help you out. Send her a message.

^I know sis maribeth, met her last time and she's not from Amsterdam although within Holland din. Anyways, I'm from Utrecht also here in The Netherlands and it is indeeed a beautiful country .  Hmmm...what to see ba in Amsterdam? There's Red Light District, the canals, Madame Tussauds wax museum and kung ano-ano pa.  I'll ask bf later when he comes home and then I'll update here.

By the way sis never take pics of the girls from the Red Light District. Bawal po.

Anne Frank House( you can drop this one, its just a small room of Anne frank)
House of Bols  at Hobbemestraat (Museum of Bols cocktails, 11.50 entrance, on fridays it's ladies night, so half the price, you get free cocktails, this is only if you like drinking)

Museumplein, it's where you can have a photo of I AM AMSTERDAM in big letters.

Transpo: buy a 7.50 OV card, its valid for the whole date, just dont forget to check in and out of busses, trams and metro.

A question, or more of a validation or insight. I plan to get the I Am Amsterdam Card for 48 hours which costs 49 euros. The card covers all my rides in the public transport system (except yung train to/from airport) plus entrance fees of most sights:

If I DIY according to my IT , ito yung breakdown na covered nung card (cost in euros):
Canal Cruise - 10
Amsterdam Rijksmuseum - 10
Van Gogh Museum - 10
Rembrandt House - 8
Stedelijk Museum 9

Sulit naman di ba? Di ba? Plus I don't need to queue pa. I need affirmation that I am making the right decision. Anyone here who tried this?

kase for a 24hr transpo in Ams is 7.50€. so with Ams card. Canal cruise 6-8euros.

Question... we have an 8-hour layover in Amsterdam, before our flight to Rome.  Will we have enough time to go to the city and do at least a canal cruise?

^ pwede sis. kasi From Schipol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal less than 30minutes lang by train.
hindi pa ako nakasakay sa canal cruise, pero base sa website nila every 30minutes naalis yung cruise then 1 hour yun lilibot.
and may time pa rin kayo maglakad lakad sa city hindi din naman matagal hihintayin niyo sa train dito.

tsaka diretso naman na yung train from Schipol to Amsterdam, hindi niyo na kailan lumipat lipat.

Hi Sis, Nagpunta kami ng mga colleagues ko sa Utrecht last 2008. Dun kami sa Mali Hotel nagstay, parang province lang, medyo tahimik, tapos 8pm na maliwanag pa din, namiss ko tuloy mamili sa albertheinz at kumain patat ng centraal. Anyway, nung pumunta kami sa Amsterdam, dun lang kami sa redlight district at yung Sex museum , true na bawal kuhanan ng pics yung mga gels sa redlights, i remember yung kasama namin hinabol nung isang babae at inaway kahit nakalayo na kami sa kanila dahil accidentally nagflash yung cam niya.

Hope you can come back sis. Utrecht is not tahimik na kasi ang dami ng commercial establishments and right now they're building a bigger and newer shopping center to replace ata the old one. I'm so happy naman kasi it means more shopping hehe.

Aside from Amsterdam's Red Light, have you visited Utrecht's Boat House Red Light? They have better-looking and fresher girls than Amsterdam IMO. LOL.

I had a great time in Amsterdam! Their transpo system is so efficient.
And I love their fries!

I got the Iamsterdam card for 48 hours na nasulit ko dahil nawala wala ako sa trams. Masaya naman mawala sa Amsterdam. Wala naman atang unsafe neighborhood doon (?)

Instead of doing the usual museum tours, I opted to venture in the Stolen Windmill about an hour away from the city center. The visit was worth it. The guide was very enthusiastic and my interest was piqued with all trivia about Ams and the windmills.

I joined my hostel's free walking tour. Yes, free, pero syempre at the end, ummm, discretion mo na if you will tip the guide or not. It was informative enought but I wasn't listening all the time because I was busy taking pics of the surroundings and myself. Wala talaga masyadong time mag-picture if you join tours.

Sorry sis I can't help you with it because I don't know much about Amsterdam.Ask sis pmartini because her place is near Amsterdam lang . Sa LaPlace lang kasi kami lagi kumakain ni BF pag naglalakwatsa kami.Hehe.Dutch food is so-so kasi tapos ang mahal pa.Anyways LaPlace is like a sosi food court inside V&D malls. Masarap naman sya and mura compared to eating at these restaurants. Don't forget to visit the ESPRIT OUTLET STORE in Amsterdam.
