marose: speaking of latch.. namiss ko tuloy yung pagpapalatch kay V dati... kasi from lower lip to upper lip or something no?

and Oh, nakatulong ang BF sa paglose ko ng weight.. kaya pag tinatanong ako lagi bakit at pano magpapayat.. sinasagot ko magbuntis at mag breastfeed :) is the easiest way to lose wieght :)

Jai, dapat the baby is latching not just at the nipple, but at the nipple and areola.  Also, you should always bring your baby to your breast, not the other way around - dito kasi nao-overwhelm ang baby.  It's an instinct for a baby to look for and latch at the mother's breast kaya hindi na dapat isiksik sa face ng baby ang ating boobies.  May videos din sa you tube on this. ;)

hindi effective sakin yung paglose weight while bf-ing. Hehe.

naalala ko when marose mentioned oras oras magnurse, ganon ako dati.

thanks, marose! sa next pregnancy ko talaga panata ko iyan. i should be well informed by then. i don't think number 3 is the reason kasi nga whenever i pump, 1 oz lang kaya ko i-pump whereas pag nagtitimpla kami ng formula, 3 oz. na iniinom niya. or maybe meron pa nga milk pero pagod na siya magsuck since 5 minutes na and she hasn't gotten enough. she got used to the bottle wherein kahit di siya magsuck masyado, meron lalabas na milk.

jai and momai, that's right. if you want to have a baby boy, you should do it at the peak of your fertility. why? because the characteristics of boy sperm cells are they move fast and die fast. so if you try to conceive on your 14th day, chances are, mauuna ang boy sperm cell in meeting the egg. ang girl sperm cell naman, they move slow but live longer. so let's say you try to conceive days before the peak of your fertility, chances are buhay pa din sila by the time the egg reaches the end of the fallopian tube and ang boy sperm cells, patay na nun. it is the sperm cell kasi that determines gender. kaya ako, i had a strong feeling na nun na my baby is going to be a girl even before ako nagpaultrasound but i wanted to confirm it kaya atat ako at 16 weeks. :)

Sam, korek!  Kaya dapat talagang i-orient ang family members/members of the household.  Kahit formula-fed babies umiiyak.  Crying is the only means by which a baby can communicate.  So hindi naman porque umiyak = gutom.  Fact vs. myth.  If you are attuned to your baby's needs, as you get to know your baby, you'll be able to distinguish between a cry of hunger vs. a cry for attention vs. a cry for making baby more comfortable.

Kim the amount of milk that you get through pumping is NOT an accurate indicator of how much your baby is getting.  The pump does not stimulate milk production as effectively as a baby's suckling.

Not all moms are blessed with overflowing milk.  If you pumped during the early weeks, most likely tama nga na 1-3 oz lang ang napa-pump mo.  Nothing wrong with that.  To increase milk production, you should nurse more often.  The pump cannot replace baby's direct nursing in stimulating milk production.

re: ACV, surprise, tinutungga ko cya ng puro 1st thing in the morning, pangontra TABA! ;D tsaka i make sure na 1st thing na maglalanding sa tyan ko is ACV + 1 whole lemon na squeezed + 3tbsp raw honey. since binalik ko tong regimen na to, nanotice ko mas lumiliit na si jelly belly ko.

just a thought, naweweirduhan ako dyan sa atin, madami parin doctors ang d well informed about BF when pinas is a 3rd country & d ba dapat mas informed sa BF mga tao lalo na sa hirap ng buhay ngayon?  :-X

Nesz, for me better buy ang FINO than Longchamp kasi leather nga.  One of the reasons why I cannot justify a Longchamp purchase is because of the material.  Sorry sa LC fans. :(  Pero good for travel ang LC kasi foldable and lightweight.

Years ago, I bought a leather bag at TINT.  Tint is made by the company that also makes Carbon.  The bag is still beautiful.  At 6k circa 2004, mahal siya for a Pinoy brand.  But now, I should say na it was a worthwhile investment.

I only have a few bags, less than 10 lang ang niro-rotate ko.

marose, thanks again. that explains it. kaya siguro 1 oz. lang before kasi nga it was my first few weeks pa lang. i should've nursed more often then.

mommy marose APIR hehe! ;D may sling bag ako from Tint na leather, buhay pa upto now :) Ang LC ko pangharabas lang. But di mo ako mapapabili ng full price na LC :P nylon ata yung material ng Le  pliage and ang ayoko sa kanya medyo challenge hugasan kasi the colour will never be the same as before. Ang leather punas lang ;D

another thing I noticed din nowadays, parang ginagawang trend ang breastfeeding. d naman porque mga hollywood ek ek na yan nagbrebreastfeed sumunod na mga tao, before this dapat one should have a good mindset & be well equipped w/ what breastfeeding really is.

nesz, yep yun nga :)

Actually, doon sa kuwento ko kanina re my BFF na nakinig sa 1 breastfeeding blogger, was about pumping too early.  I do not recommend pumping during the first month for the following reasons:
1.  konti lang makukuhang milk and baka magulat or sumama ang loob ng mommy at isipin na konti ang milk niya, eh konti lang naman talaga ang kailangan ng baby in the first few weeks, 2.  moms should work on establishing their supply first before pumping milk, 3.  pumping too early may even be counter-productive as my pedia and lactation coach said that they've encountered cases where the breasts nabugbog dahil sa kaka-pump.  Yung kinonsulta ni friend na breastfeeding "expert" inadvise siyang mag-pump during the first week to stimulate production, which I did not agree with (though may ibang view naman na okay lang ito pero for me, ayoko talagang i-recommend mag-pump agad).  Siempre kapag may pinump na milk, ang tendency after the nursing session, bibigyan pa ng bottle of expressed milk ang baby.  Eh di nipple confusion naman ang magiging resulta, which I think happened nga with friend.

Grayce, celebs endorsing breastfeeding are okay naman with me para mabigyan ng "face" ang breastfeeding.  Pero hindi talaga glamorous mag-breastfeed.  During the early months pagkauwi ng babies ko, hindi halos ako makaligo sa kaka-nurse.  Loshang ako talaga.  Pero, nakabawi naman ako when I went back to work.

di ako makapost kasi ang topic about BFing -- na super kinareregret ko. my experience is the same as kim's. may plus plus pa haha :) na super nakacontribute sa frustration ko kaya lalong no milk. anyway, i promised myself pagdating ni baby #2 it will be a better environment and mas prepared na ako. mali ko din i used the pump very early, so paano ko papainumin ang milk? eh di ganun pa din, nipple confusion!

am excited sa EB this Friday!! ;D

Na-share ko na ito sa isang thread, the following were my sources on breastfeeding info during pregnancy:

1.  Best Feeding by Mary Renfrew
2.  The Nursing Mother's Companion by Kathleen Huggins

After giving birth:

Dr. Ma. Asuncion Silvestre, my babies' pedia - super love ko siya
My friend from La Leche League Philippines
Other breastfeeding moms

After I started advising moms about breastfeeding:

1.  www.kellymom.com
2.  www.llli.org

Nesz, okay see you sa usual place natin.  Magre-retouch lang ako. ;)

:-\ in fairness 90% ng mga moms dito according to statistics nagtatry magbreastfeed, half of it tinutuloy, while others resort to formula feeding.
