^^sorry but you're supposed to introduce solid food at 6mos. not 4 or 5mos. introducing solid food early can trigger allergies & such since baby's gastrointestinal system is not yet mature & can't properly utilize & digest solid foods. and morning lang talaga ang solid food pag bago lang. my baby started eating 2x/day when he was already around 8-9mos.

My pedia advised me to start baby's solids one week before he turns 6months, siguro iba iba or baka kasi yung scheduled checkup ni baby is when he turns 6months, so para makapagbigay na rin ng feedback re taking solids..she prescribed cerelac pero parang ayaw kong ipatake yun, mas prefer ko organic food..

^it's really better to go for organic food than cerelac. ang tamis ng cerelac and i really don't understand why some pedias recommend this as first food.

My daughter's pedia prescribed to introduce solid food to her 2x a day at 5 months . She even enumerated the foods which i can give my baby. But i delayed it and waited until she was 5 and half month. Yong kaedad ni baby na kasabayan ko sa pedia nya started to eat solid when she reached 5 months and she is fine naman. Mga pamangkin ko din started solid at 5 months. But i still insisted that i give my daughter at 5 and half.

Pansin ko lang biglang bumigat lalo ang baby ko...e, big girl na sya to start with.
http://www.uptodate.com/contents/patient-information-starting-solid-foods-during-infancy-beyond-the-basics

Introducing solid foods before an infant is four to six months of age may interfere with the child's ability to take in an adequate number of calories or nutrients and may increase the risk of developing food allergies.
Young infants do not have the coordination and/or skills to safely swallow solid foods, which could lead to aspiration (inhaling food/liquid into the lungs).

normally naman ang side effects na ganyan like allergies and such manifest at a later age, hindi por que mukhang ok naman ang bata ngayon doesn't mean na walang magma manifest later on IMO. and the guideline of introducing solid food at 6mos is not only from american academy of pediatrics but also from WHO (world health organization).

i started giving pasta to my baby na mashed i think when he was 9-10mos old.

^ binabanlian lang or babad sa mainit na tubig sis. for storage, yung mga lock and lock or avent via cups pwede na. syempre this implies na kay baby lang lahat ito and hindi pwede gamitin ng iba :)

hth!

If you're not sure of the water quality in your area, it's not advisable na banlian Lang ng hot water yung utensils and plates. Some bacteria/virus cannot be killed that way. You really need to boil/sterilize them. We learned that the hard way when my daughter had a bad case of diarrhea, the same time as my brother. The doctor suspects it was rotavirus (though never clinically confirmed since we only have 1 testing facility here in the country. Di na napadala yung stool sample). When we were discussing with the pedia what could be the possible cause she suspected it may have something to do with the water. At that time our village was in the middle of switching from deep well to maynilad. We suspected some pipes were compromised. Though my daughter drinks only bottled water, we use tap water for her bath water and utensils/plates. Our pedia suggested only bottled water for baths. Then for the utensils, plates and anything that we us for feeding, drinking and food storage, after washing them using tap, we need to boil/sterilize them to make sure the bacteria/virus are killed

Salamat sis mga nagreply!

^Hmmmn..yan din iniisip ko, though wala namang water quality issue sa amin, iniisip ko kung sterilize together with the bottles (spoon and small bowl pa lang naman gagamitin), or banlian na lang muna..

joining...

my baby is already 6 months and we're so excited to finally start him with solid foods.  since nagresearch na ako prior to his check-up i asked the pedia if its true na dapat yellow or orange veggies muna ibigay kay baby.  My mom kasi is insisting na ok lang bigyan na agad ng egg yok na hard boiled e. Shempre nagulat ako nun sabi ni pedia na ok lang kahit anong iprepare basta make sure daw na ok yung consistency for baby.  But at least hindi niya sinabing cerelac!! hehe :) yung stepson ko kasi sa cerelac lumaki at grabe hirap pakainin talaga as in!! anyway we started with squash for 3 days then now camote naman.  I already bought organic brown rice cereal from Healthy Options so yun siguro sunod ko.  Wala kasi kame grinder e.  Dun sa times of feeding him, sabi ng pedia isabay daw sa regular meals namen para masanay siya so breakfast, lunch & dinner siya kumakain.  although iba-iba ang pagkain niya e -- minsan madame, minsan konti at minsan matakaw masyado.

@hunny_ally -- gosh sis natakot naman ako sa post mo! on-going kasi ang transition ng village namen to maynilad e! my goodness! so dapat pala siguraduhin na hindi niya mainom yung bath water niya! tapos yung utensils and bowl plus the food prep stuff ni baby, i just clean it kasi using Cradle then binabanlian na lang nun yaya.

@chofontanilla -- sis marami sa internet na info on first foods but ayon sa research ko you can start with yellow/orange vegetables then move on to green ones. of course you can also give rice cereal as first food.  this is according sa what to expect app sa iphone. :)

^^ we also used avent via cups. Placed ice cubes of food there then used our playtex fridge to go. Kung sa restaurant jami kakain, i ask for a cup of warm water to warm the food.

We also bring our own spoon. For a time na-obsess ako maghanap ng ok na spoon na may case. Hee.
