my baby is now 6 months and 3 weeks old. purely homemade vegetable and fruit purees ang food niya. what age can i start giving table food? and what age can i give him fingerfoods like puffs?

once you have established what type of food wont trigger allergies. kasi if table food halo-halo na yung ingredients. it will be harder for you determine which triggered the allergy in case he reacted to the food. best bet when he's 1year old or around that age kasi by that time you would have introduced already alot of varieties of food. btw, my 13mos old son eats table food now from time to time BUT we set aside a portion of food for him BEFORE we put salt into the food.

my friend does this. but like you said kaka-start pa lang ng baby to eat solids. it's better to establish first which food maganda reaction ni baby before introducing the malunggay powder. btw, a cheaper alternative to this is to boil malunggay leaves and make the broth a base for your lugaw or mi this with other veggies. the malunggay powder din is not exactly cheap. plus, the broth is "fresher" as compared to the powder. im pretty sure they add something to the malunggay when they process it into powder.

why not give homemade food instead of giving bottled and boxed food? homemade food is cheaper, fresher and more nutritious!

^how old is your baby? for young ones kasi kapag apples ideally you should cook (boil, steam, bake) it first before serving. too hard kasi to give it as is if you're giving it to your baby as starter food.

http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/applebabyfoodrecipes.htm

re the veggies, i mash them using a fork. blender is ok siguro if your baby is only starting to eat. but eventually you should also introduce texture to your baby's food para hindi masanay with pureed food.

my son is now 1.3 years and we're still sterilizing his feeding items. hangga't gumagamit sya ng sippy cups, feeding bottles and storage containers, magste-sterilize kami. yung spoon and fork naman nya binabanlian namin ng hot water bago gamitin. okay naman si pedia namin dun, para daw ma rule out namin yun as reason kung bakit magkaka-lbm or magkakasakit si baby.

My baby just turned 6 months yesterday

We tried Mashed Potato + Cerelac (Rice and Soya) for lunch tapos Gerbar (Squash) for dinner then kanina Banan with cerelac

just a question, dba the best method of cooking to ensure all the nutrition remains in the food is steaming? When you boil veggies daw nutrients leak out (as evidenced by the greenish color of the water used for boiling). Would steaming the veggies get them soft enough to mash/puree?

^i prefer baking than steaming. and yes veggies will be soft enough to be mashed or pureed. for sweet potato or potatoes itself i usually bake them then mash with a fork. but for carrots for example or sayote, i steam then puree.

^^ yes, steaming is better than boiling. When we still prepared food fresh for every meal (as opposed to preparing in batches for freezing), we would steam the food sa rice cooker.

Yes, they becom soft enough to be mashed/pureed. I preferred using a hand blender rather than manual mashing.

hello mga sis. baby just turned 4 mos last week, medyo backreading na ko in preparation for solid foods at 6mos. question- pag kunwari nag puree ako ng baby food ngayon, how long sya pwede sa room temperature? Can I make one early in the  morning for the whole day?
wala kasi saming freezer (hhayy province, why are you like this...) kaya I can't make a whole week's food in advance.

^thats what we do. the yaya prepares a big batch to last the whole day in the morning. pero we still put it in the ref ha. you can't really put it out for the whole day since you don't put any salt to act as some sort of preservative.

if refrigeration is a problem, madali lang naman magluto. you can always cook before each feeding time. una, you dont cook a lot. then to make the cooking process faster, slice it really small. or when you cook rice, puwede mo ipatong yung veggies that you give to the baby.

Hello!
I want to give tofu to my baby, who is turning 9months na.
1) TOFU: Where can i buy, what brand of tofu is safe for babies???  I bought in Robinson's supermarket a tofu made fr Japan, naka box at meron syang 2kinds - firm and soft... yung firm ang nabili ko (sana yung soft nalang pala).
Any recommendation mga sis?

2) YOGART: How about din sa Yogart? (wala kasing malapit na healthy options here)

3) BUTTER: i read na pweding lagyan ng minimal amount ang food ni baby ng butter... wala nga lang nabanggit, any butter kaya?

^you mean yogurt? opt for the plain ones first. you can mix it with fresh fruits na medyo mashed.

for butter, i normally sauté beef with butter or brush potatoes, butternut squash with butter before baking them.

You can use the UNSALTED variant, or just use extra virgin olive oil.

^^sis grayce,
ano [textspeak!] plain na yogart?  so far kasi, Nestle yogart palaging may kasamang fruits, etc.  di naman ako makakagawa ng home made yogart.

for the butter, may brand ba kayong ma-advice?
