Your baby may be 3 months old or 4 months old when you start to feel she may need "something more" than formula or breast milk.  Maybe she is beginning to awaken more often at night or eat more often than "usual" and you wonder if introducing solid foods may be what she needs.

i think it was clearly stated na the 6 month rule is based on medical reasons naman. introducing solid food earlier then 6months can also trigger allergies on babies. sorry pero i don't see this "kanya kanya naman yan" na reasoning as valid. okay nga now babies ng friends mo but it doesn't mean allergies will manifest right away.

You said it yourself "kanya kanya naman yan" meaning babies react differently. So it is possible that a baby may react negatively.  Kasi ako with my kids I always try to err on the side of caution. Never experiment on giving food as early as 3months without your doctor's order. If your doctor says it's ok, then go. But if doctor ko yan, I'd find a new one cause it's obvious she's not up to date on current research recommendations.

And re waking up more often at night or eat more often...those are NOT the only signs that your baby is ready for solids. Since you quoted na din wholesomebabyfood, I'll quote na din the paragraph that came after the lines you quoted from the site. Seems like you didn't get a chance to read the article in it's entirety:

"Your baby may be 3 months old or 4 months old when you start to feel she may need "something more" than formula or breast milk.  Maybe she is beginning to awaken more often at night or eat more often than "usual" and you wonder if introducing solid foods may be what she needs.

A Growth Spurt May be Confused with a Readiness for Solid Foods
Please keep in mind that a growth spurt will occur between 3-4 months of age. Your baby may begin to wake more frequently at night for a feeding and/or may begin to eat non-stop (cluster feed) as she once did as a newborn.  This growth spurt often accounts for the increased hunger in your baby and it should not be taken as a sign that your baby needs solid foods added to her diet." More of that here

Good that your baby and your friends' babies did not encounter negative effects. But not everyone will have the same experience so it is not good to recommend that it is ok to give food that early without knowing prior the baby's history.

What you're saying is an opinion...what I'm pointing out is based on MEDICAL recommendations backed by MEDICAL researches and not just merely my personal opinion. That's how our opinions differ.

You're correct anak niya yun and the end of the day our opinions won't matter cause it will be the mother who will make the final decision...which hopefully is an informed decision and not merely based on unfounded opinions. That's the beauty of GT.

Let's just agree to disagree  ;)

I read from my baby book that it's around 6 months that baby's intestines start to mature.

"A baby's immature intestines are not equipped to handle a variety of foods until around 6 months, when many digestive enzymes seem to click in. Pediatric allergists discourage early introduction of food specially if there is a strong family history of food allergies.

Maturing intestines secrete the protein immunoglobulin IgA, which acts like a protective paint, coating the intestines and preventing the passage of harmful allergens (cow's milk, wheat, and soy beans are common examples of food causing allergens when introduced early). This protective IgA is low in the early months and does not reach peak production until around 7 months of age.

As the intestines mature, they become more nutritionally selective, filtering out offending food allergens. Babies whose systems tend to be allergy-prone actually may show delayed willingness to accept solids - a built in self-protective mechanism."

Hope it helps! :)

Ditto :) nasa tao na yun if you're going to base your belief on medical aspect or personal belief, whether you listen to what most doctors say or follow your own rule.

I might be OT but I dont know where to post this question.

After one month my baby's weight did not increase. He's 7 months old, he's now into solid foods but most of the time breast milk. Is it normal?Did any of you experience the same thing?

Pedia said he might not be eating much..I feel guilty but of course I dont want to overfeed baby. :(

^^ Hi sis...
Nag-a-adjust pa naman yung anak mo sa pagkain ng solids. 1 month pa lang naman eh.
To make sure na hindi siya mag-overfeed, gradually mo increase yung dami ng solids para malaman mo kung ano na yung kaya niya.

Mas ok yung na-maintain yung weight kesa nag-loose once nag-start yung solids niya.

I like din yung non-slip and with catcher na bowls.

What feeding items did you buy, brand nung mag start na ng solids si baby nyo?
Currently i mailed Boon sa store nila online and branches.  pwedi daw tawagan sila for my orders. Yung web nila di pa gaano updated ang pictures, list kung ano may stock at wala eh :(  im so interested kaya lang mapapagastos nanaman ako ng mga P2k...

sis i read in kellymom.com na pag nagstastart palang magsolids normally konti lang ang nakakain ng baby talaga. and solid food isn't supposed to replace milk once baby starts eating solids since he'll still be getting most of his nutrition from milk :) i assume you're breastfeeding kasi sabi mo breast milk, read mo yung about solids sa kellymom.com. it was very helpful for me :)

^yes sis, I do breastfeed baby.. I have read it too, kaya medyo nabawasan ang worry ko. Super likot din kasi ng baby ko, maybe thats why he did not gain weight.

^dont be too paranoid with the weight...as long as your baby is thriving and hitting developmental milestones at the right month, there's nothing to worry. my baby's yaya was telling me that my baby's playmate is bigger and heavier than my baby even though they're the same age. sabi ko I'm not worried nor jealous kasi my son's playmate cant even stand up (kahit assisted ha). my baby started doing that at 7-8mos. tapos my baby is more attentive unlike his playmate who is very unresponsive.

^^my baby's like that lately, di na ganun kalaki ang weight gain dahil sa likot, and he lost weight pa when he got sick 2 weeks ago. although bumawi sa kain and tumaba ulit, di na ganun kadrastic ang tinataba nya but I'm not worried naman since I'm aware na dahil rin sa kalikutan nya yun :)

hi, pigeon yung ginamit namin for baby, yun kasi yung pinaka shallow yung pinaka-kutsara (sorry di ko alam yung tawag dun) tsaka maliit. kahit di naman mahal yung gamitin mo ok lang, yung iba nga yung kutsarita lang sa house yung ginagamit. I'm not a fan of that Boon squirt spoon, sorry. mas kampante ako sa spoon + bowl tandem for feeding baby.  meron din si baby na bowl with suction sa base pero pinipilit nyang tanggalin yun everytime nasa tray ng high chair nya. gagamitin na lang ulit namin yun pag hindi na ganun ka-playful si baby.
