^^nung una isa-isa lang din ginagawa ko sa pagintroduce ng food to check kung may allergy. now that my baby is 7months old, mixed na as advised ng nutritionist. nakahalo na yung carrots sa rice. i have a munchkin grinder, grind ko muna dun carrots tapos yung lugaw naman then combine them sa bowl ni baby. pwede din naman sa blender.

My baby is 5 mos. And 1 week old. Nung last check up nya, may go signal na from pedia to start solids. Kaya lang ang nirecommend nya cereals daw muna, yung cerelac stage 1. I asked kung pwedeng mashed potatoes or any fresh food, sabi too early pa daw.
For starters gaano karami yung binigay nyo na Cerelac? Tsaka ilang beses sa isang araw?

First solid food ni baby i gave avocado + breastmilk, napagalitan pa ako ng Pedia sweet daw so baka masanay si baby. & first time nya narinig na pwede avocado. nirecommend nya sweet potato, potatoes, sayote & squash.. Yung fruits too early pa she's 6 months & 2 wks,

5months - mashed potato, cereals, egg yolk (once a day)
6months - fish, fruits (mango)    (once a day)
7months up to present (9months) - banana, lugaw, rice na madaming sabaw

minsan binibigyan ko ng ice cream  ;D, yung bavarian filling, peach mango pie filling  ;D- ( i know its not healthy but hey i'm just a mom that can't resist my daughter's begging eyes everytime na makikita nya yung cousin nya na kumakain nun hehe)

7months onward- 3x a day na sya

I suggest you don't give the babies biscuits muna. My daughter kasi, when I started to give her Marie and Gerber Puffs kumonti yung consumption nya ng vegie meals nya. Tapos we stopped giving her biscuits for a while so lumakas na ulit sya kumain.

Biscuits can be given siguro pag na-stabilize na yung 3x a day meals nya.

Sorry, pero baka off topic 'to although related naman. How do you prep your baby during feeding or how do you keep her interested in eating? Kasi baby ko iyak ng iyak pag yung nasa high chair and pinapakain mo. She likes eating sweet potatoes naman or kahit ano actually ibigay mo. Parang ayaw lang niya sa high chair, or naiinip. Kaya ayaw na rin niya kumain. She's 7 mos na pero she won't finish 2 tbsps pa rin. Unless nasa lap ko siya. Hirap naman pag nasa lap. I need her to get used kasi sa high chair.

Sa lugaw do you put anything else? Or is it juat rice and water? TIA!

hi! another question here. Sulit ba mga baby food grinder like munchkin? Yung parang manual grinder.  i want to buy one kasi my baby will be starting to eat solids already.
Thanks!

@pumngold - i'd rather invest in a blender/food processor/grinder type of thing rather than yung feeder, saglit mo lang kasi gagamitin. and besides pwede naman i-mash with fork ang first food :)

@skylove - make feeding time short lang siguro? para hindi sya ma bore. or make it fun for her/him. tipong make the spoon like an airplane then go zoom and land on her mouth. as much as possible try to get her on the chair, mahirap din if masanay sya na nasa lap mo, kapag malaki na sya, aabot na yan ng kung ano ano sa table.

@chic_clothes - depends on how old your baby is and does she like drinking water? at first kasi maninibago sila so expect na konti lang. as they grow older masasanay din sila and they'll drink more.

this week, table food na si V :) whatever we eat, she eats.. so tailored ang pagkain namin na pwede sa bata like masabaw etc. LOL

next week 3x a day na sya kakain. i agree with weng, pwede naman i mash ng food or spoon ang food ni baby.

skylove, yung lugaw ni baby rice and water lang talaga. no salt, no magic sarap :) as advised ng nutritionist nung nagconsult kami, better na huwag pilitin yung baby kumain kung ayaw talaga kasi dun daw nagstart yung negative perception nila sa eating/food. what we can do raw e "inggitin" si baby... try mo itabi sya sa dining area while you're eating tapos let her watch lang na nasasarapan ka sa kinakain mo. feeding time naman daw for babies is 20-30 minutes so kung matagal, ok lang daw yun as long as hindi distracted sa TV or toy.

pumngold, we have the munchkin food grinder. i prefer this than a blender kasi daily ako nagpreprepare ng food ni baby so small amount lang kaya sayang naman kung gagamit pa ng electricity for the blender.

Thanks sa tip, sis! Although si baby 'wais'. She doesn't fall dun sa airplane thingy and would just stare at us. Di pa rin ibubuka ang bibig. She eats with us, sa high chair siya. Pag iniinggit namin kumain at walang pumapansin sa kanya, maiinis and iiyak na naman. Somehow she knows pag ang pinapasubo ko sa kanya is her food and not ours. Gusto niya kung ano kinakain namin yun din sa kanya. So lahat ng food niya kinakain ko. Hahah! I hate veggies pa naman. Or sometimes she prefers i give her the food using my finger. We don't watch tv or give her toy nga eh. Sometimes I do give toy pag nag-tantrum na. Para di maingay.

questions po:
1. how long does homemade baby food keep when stored in the freezer? how about when in the ref?
2. how do you keep fruits from browning after you cooked and pureed them? kase parang medyo nagiiba lasa kapag nagbbrown

i use a strainer (the one made from wire. the one that you use to sift flour with) to puree baby food. i mashed it through the strainer using the back of the spoon. it's a cheaper alternative to blenders and food has a better consistency than using a fork.

^ parang nabasa ko before is kapag frozen up to 3 months, ref up to 3 days. hopefully hindi ka naman mag store ng ganun katagal sa freezer :) syempre iba pa din ang freshly made :)
not sure ako sa second question. kasi almost all fruits/veggies ganyan, kasi kailangan nila ng moisture, when they are cut naeexpose sila so nag d-dry up. maybe if you cut then freeze them agad? baka some of the moms here may ma-share?
