takot na tuloy ako! i thought this clinic was good, based on the post in confessions of a beauty queen's blog about them saving her baby with distemper. dito ko sana dadalhin yung rescued kitten ko for deworming. kaso nakakatakot yung mga kwento niyo. also, i'm scared she'll catch an illness from the clinic premises/other patients. sayang this clinic is only a tricycle ride away.

can anyone please recommend a trusted vet in mandaluyong or makati?

maybe because they have so many branches na kaya yan hindi na namomonitor ang competency ng mga vets.. bilib pa naman ako sa galing nila lalo nung nagkasakit sa spine yung shihtzu ko na hindi malaman laman ng animal house kung bakit.

ngayon insearch nanaman ng new vet para sa yorkie ko soon.

If your pet's situation is complicated, I suggest asking for a Senior Vet like Doc Nielsen or Doc Marga. I have had a few hits and misses sa mga junior vets, but each time I asked for a Senior naman they put me on the list right away as long as they are available. The Seniors at Manda are usually there 2-3 times a week only.

My most recent experience which I was satisfied with was when Doc Nielsen had to do an exploratory surgery on my female beagle after we found that she was still in heat 7 months after we had her spayed in another (cheaper) veterinary clinic. Doc Nielsen opened her up and found that the previous vet had neglected to remove her left ovary. We paid around 27k in all - 8k for the spay, 16k for the exploration and the rest for her prescription. I was surprised at the cost but I guess we do whatever we can for the sake of our pets, right? We took her home 4 hours after and she quickly recovered. We always take our pets to VIP not only because of its proximity to where we live but it really is a hospital for pets complete with amenities, and the experience of the Senior Vets can't be beat. Just be ready for the costs.

May naka-try naba sa inyo mga sis mag-credit card payment dito? my dog's bill is whooping 25k now.. unbelievable.. aabot ako sa 30k or more for sure.

I have the capacity to pay ofcourse but I didn't saw this coming and its much better if I can do terms.. Parang bill ko lang last time inabot ako less than 50k pero sa Euthanasia din bumagsak yung aso ko.. I just don't want to give up on this one..

^I have but did not bother to check if they can do terms so naka-straight charge siya sa credit card. Try to call or ask them na lang Sa Manda branch very accommodating naman sila madami kaming tanong about their services.

^i talked to them na they allowed me naman since may record ako na almost 15 dogs or so (lost count) pero baka i-straight ko nalang din. nakakaloka lang ang gastos.

Pikit mata na lang pag nag swipe! Worth it naman for me because I saw how they treated our dog and our family.

since my last post my dog passed away this morning… after the two operations he didn't recover.. he just lived 13days.. that's 11 days in VIP and 2 days with us.

traumatised nako for now. ayoko na muna.

doc nielsen was there kanina, he is one of the owners db? he saw me crying pero iniwan lang nya ako. sana nga tama yung ginawa nila kasi sa 2nd opinion na-force daw yung dog ko, sana pinagaling muna para hindi nagcomplications.

Ako naman tiwalang tiwala pa din sa VIP since nung nagkadistemper aso ko at napagaling nila (di ko alam kung sino yung dr na nagcheck) I always recommend it to my friends na dog owners din. Di na kami ulit nakabalik don (thank God) pero tiwala pa din ako sakanila.

Pero for check ups gusto ko si Dr. Cristie ng Pet Express Cubao kahit mukang takot siya sa aso ko. Hehe! Siya din yung nagrecommend samin sa VIP nung nag positive siya for distemper and nung bumalik kami for anti rabies, naalala niya aso ko ) and sinabi na tumaba daw.

ok naman sila eh kaya lang minsan maiisip mo namemera nalang sila. i don't know what really happened pero naka 50k din kame trying to save him. hay. naiiyak pa din ako.

nagpa-autopsy report ako sa animal wonders sa regalado sila nagsabe na bumigay na ang bladder and my dog was already being poisoned.. hindi na tatagal ng 24hrs and true enough he passed away na.

Nag inquire ako about dental cleaning for my Shih Tzu. Ang mahal P3,000 + P2,000 for lab tests. Total P5,000 at estimate yun.  Ang mahal naman.

Sa vet ng Dad ko between P1500-1800 lang ang estimate.  Di ko na lang papagawa ito sa VIP.

Saka nagpavaccine yung pet ko may consultation fee na P400.   E dati naman wala.  Kaso napansin e malayo na kami.  Parang palusot lang yung sagot e sabi ganun daw talaga pag start of the year, yung succeeding wala na.  Ganun ba talaga?  4 years na kami sa VIP kaya lang di ko maalala kung ganun lagi kasi stressed lagi baby ko lagi dun kaya nagmamadali kaming umalis.

Hmmm, ang alam ko  pag first time ng pup or dog meron consultation fee na 400. Tapos mga yearly vax, wala na... Although di ko rin Kasi chine-check yung bills ko. I just pay and try to leave ASAP Kasi same here, stressed din alaga ko pag nasa clinic.

Also, sa very first visit (lang) free yung nail clipping. Kala ko Kasi dati free na every time  Kasi libo-libo parati bill ko pag punta dun. I was wrong. Hehe... Sana courtesy nalang nila yun sa mga longtime patients.

Btw, BP machine na sila for pets. Nagpa bp Kasi alaga ko sa white plains. P350 ang charge. Nyek.

no they always place 400 sa consultation fee. labas pasok alaga ko these past 13days and kahit yun hindi man lang iwaive. namemera nalang "yata" talaga ang VIP and yung handlers/boys yung nagpapakain at nagpapainom ng gamot ng dogs, what the vets/doc do is the medicine na injectable lang. (baka nga yung interns or yung hindi pa talaga vet ang gumagawa nito. may naencounter kame sa vip na ganun e)

traumatize ako ngayon. ubos na pera ko patay pa alaga ko. sana in the first place sinabe na upfront na "if we do the operation MAY RISK pa din either mamatay or magrecover sya" what doc gina said "may encounter kame before same case but the dog survived, we're hoping na the same din sa alaga niyo"

^lahat ng operation ay may risk kaya dapat may 2nd opinion (or more kung kaya)  kahit dogs. Di ba may signed waiver before operation?

Sa UP Vet Med main namin at lagi din may consultation fee pag pa balik balik. Difference lang ay mas mura dun. Tanggap namin na mas mahal sa VIP dahil sa facilities.

May regret din ako na nahirapan dog namin in the end kaso matanda na talaga siya. Saka kahit nasa VIP confined and treated, in contact pa din kami sa main vet to confirm the meds and procedures.

Would we have done it differently? No. We wanted to do whatever was necessary. Money can be earned, at least you know you tried.

Pwede mo din pa kita sa kanila yung autopsy results and maybe demand for some refund.

I'm sorry for your loss.. I hope ma compensate ka nila somehow.

^they should have told atleast na mas risky yung situation nya considering na emergency na talaga yung case and they did xrays and everything naman and mas alam nila nangyayare sa aso..

binasa ko actually yung hospitalization form muna bago ako nagkwento/nagtanong sa kanila and nagiiyak.. stated na babayaran pa din lahat ng gastos kundi isusue naman ako.. nagpromissory note kasi ako sa laki ng gastos pero binayaran ko nadin ng cash dahil ayoko ng bumalik sa kanila.

i know money can be earned and atleast i tried pero alam mo yung guilt feeling na makikita mo sa mata ng dog na "pagod na pagod nako" or something.. lalo nung time na nagsusuka sya ng yellow at hindi alam pano isusuka tas titingin saken after, naiyak din talaga ako.. 2 kameng owner, yung isa nilalaban sya sabe ko maawa ka sa kanya hirap na hirap na sya… when he decided (co-owner) to euthanize saka namen nalaman na terminal na and hindi na tatagal ng 24hrs saka ko sinabe na wag na i-euthanize.. let him die naturally. Pina-suero ko padin to relieve the pain and yes he did die after 12hrs.. 

would i really get some "refund?" parang imposible sa line nila.
pero balak ko i-email or iparating na ito ang autopsy report just so you know kung anong nangyare sa aso ko after being operated na hindi nakatulong.

glacey_rein, i somehow know how you feel. Like nung BP measurement, it was not the doc/vet who worked on it. Yung assistant lang. So I don't know if it was done properly. Somehow I expected it to be done by the vet.... And free like when you visit your family doctor... Or at least minimal charge lang... But syempre VIP is a business so...

i just brought my 9yr old lab sa VIP WP yesterday and very nice talaga yung place,they assisted us [textspeak!] ayaw bumaba ng sasakyan she cant stand.Hindi pa nga ko nagfifill up ng forms they attended to my dog right away,Doc Dexter was very straightforward that surgery ang kelangan for pyometra.We asked if its risky dahil sa age but he said any surgery is risky talaga but if not done the dog will eventually die.For her size its 20k but Doc Dexter was nice enough to discount it to 15k.Even the ultrasound libre na din daw,within an hour done na sya (i was just waiting & praying outside,habang yung mommy ko super anxious umalis and went straight to church to pray)very stable but will have to stay for 2days pa.I know somewhat expensive sa kanila but quality naman and their facilities are high tech and complete.I have been to other vets na mas mahal pa sa VIP WP pero so-so [textspeak!] and kala mo nagmamadali lagi,plus you dont get to see ano na ginagawa pero with VIP transparent sila  sa procedures even giving personal opinion if needed halatang hindi pera ang habol but the dog's welfare,Doc Dexter was also very reassuring and positive the entire time.Its going to be tipid mode for me, but very happy that i gave my Chloe a chance to live.

One thing I'd like to note is how we should be very vigilant pa rin and careful when going to VIP and any other vet clinics specially if we need to leave our furkids behind. I've had two dogs confined in separate instances. Since hindi ko kayang nasa bahay at nag-aantay na makarinig ng balita kung ano na nangyari sa kanila, we rented a suite. Yung experience ko sa shih tzu ko, okay naman yung mga medication and check up na ginagawa nila. Pero nung pauwi na kami nawindang tlaga ko. Her case was severe diarrhea. She was given food in the morning. Sabi ng vet unting food lang pero ang binigay na food sa kanya eh pang labrador. Literally the size of the bowl you'll use if you're feeding a lab, including the quantity of the food in the bowl. Buti na lang andun kami so we were telling the helper na masyadong marami yung food. He was even insisting at first but ended up taking it back and replacing it with a smaller portion.
Yung sa pom ko naman, his case was gastroenteritis (tama ba spelling?  ). His vomit was already tinge with blood. Sabi nung hapon imonitor kung hindi na susuka at kung susuka man sa gabi eh kailangan bigyan ng barium ( can't remember the name of the med exactly pero ito yung white na liquid you feed the dog na nakikita sa ultrasound). And guess what nung gabi, sarado yung cabinet daw where they keep the bottle and the key holder will be back by morning. They did not even offer alternatives to make my baby feel better at the time, ang sabi lang "wala po taung magagawa eh, wala kc yung susi". I seriously wanted to hurt someone after hearing this. Buti na lang malakas si Cash and he was able to hold off vomiting until the morning.
From the suite you can also hear the doctors assigned dun sa mga nakaconfine na dogs and the helpers. Ang dami mong naririnig na nakalimutan bigyan ng meds, mali yung nabigay na dosage, meron pa hindi na on agad yung breathing machine and so on. I feel bad for the owners of those babies! And i told myself na hinding hindi ko iiwan ang mga babies ko dun na hindi ako nakabantay. So I suggest if you can afford to stay at the clinic and rent a suite, to do so. Even with this I still go back to VIP if not in Manda, in their affiliate clinic in Tiendesitas. Some of the vets are really good and sila na yung pinakamaayos na vet clinic na napuntahan ko. I'm still open to options and if I find a clinic better than them, I wouldn't have second thoughts of transferring.
