bad news: (for me) doc gina is staying put at manda.

Hi sis, VIP charges a consult fee especially when you are a first time customer. Then they would no longer charge consult fee for the succeeding visits. But one time I was there, this male veterinarian (which name I would not want to name drop) was insisting that I paid a consult fee even if it was a succeeding visit. Of course I had to straighten out their policy and procedure and insisted that this was mentioned to me last time I visited. To my dismay, I have decided and currently looking for an alternative clinic for my fur baby. Also to mention, all their medications, pet supplies and services are overpriced.

Tutoo yang overpriced ang meds.  Kasi pag nagpacheck-up  ka di ka naman bibigyan  ng option to buy at Mercury.ex

For example, ear or eye infection, papatakan na agad ng gamot at babayaran mo na lang sa checkout.  Pero pag nagcheck ako ng price sa Mercury doble.

That's the thing sis, can anyone recommend a good clinic or vet other than VIP? I mean I guess they have established themselves thru the years that pet owners would still go there and pay their overpriced services and medicines.

waaaah?? talaga sis?? hmm, yesterday sobrang worried na ko sa baby ishi ko,  kaya I decided na to bring her sa VIP, so from my office sa Taguig, sinundo ko sya sa bahay namen sa Malabon, then wo go to Mandaluyong, and ayun nga, tinimbang sya, 5.3 kilos na lang sya, samantalang nung sat lang na tinimbang sya sa dati nyang vet, 6 kilos pa sya, grabe bilis ng pagpayat. Ang vet na nag-attend sa kanya is Dr. Douglas "daw" (yan lang yung narinig ko sa sinabi nya), he checked Ishi, since hindi naman nagtatae or nagsusuka, sabi nya need daw iblood test, which costs me 800..  so para sa ikagagaling na ni Ishi, ok na saken yun, so sabi sa result, normal naman daw lahat except sa platelets nya which is mababa na.. from 170 na normal, 143 na lang.. sabi nya dengue na daw yun kumbaga sa tao.. so may binigay sya na antibiotic (200), vitamins (LC Vit - 300php) and inadvise ako na bumili nung dog food (A/D - 150php) na pinakaen sa kanya to test if may appetite pa sya, pampagana daw.. so nagbill out ako ng 1850php lahat lahat kasama na yung 400 na doc's fee..

Kagabe din kumaen na si Ishi, then naglalaro na.. I was relieved and kahit pano ok na saken kahit nagastusan ako.. hehe, pero ask ko lang mga sis, especially dun sa mga suki na sa VIP, napamahal ba ako mga sis? or sakto lang?

And how true yung first visit ka lang magbabayad ng consultation, succeeding is hindi na?

^ open na daw clinic nila sa white plains. so baka gusto mo mag transfer since closer sayo vs manda. i dunno lang if they will charge you again for initial consult, and if wp branch has all the tests needed by your dog.

anyway, i hope ok na sya.

Yup VIP at White Plains is open. Just passed there this afternoon. I have to say it was built pretty nice. Still have second thoughts on whether I'll still patronize their clinic and services.

vip white plains is operational na but they're still doing some finishing touches and cc payment facility has not been set up yet.  the place is still quiet per my sister. di pa sya zoo.

Nag back read ako & it seems quite a few furbabies here have kidney problems also. I was wondering kung kamusta na sila? My furbaby's first blood test showed extremely high creatinine levels that Doc. Gina recommended dialysis for him na. I was hesitant to leave him alone @VIP for 3 days kasi I heard stories about pets dying there & previous to that visit meron kami nakasabay na umiiyak kasi nga namatay pet nya dun. So I asked for an alternative. Nag bigay naman sya ng meds & tinuruan kami how to administer subcutaneous (SQ) fluids on our own. After 1 month we had a follow up blood test & bumaba na creatinine nya from 6.7 to 4.9 pero mataas pa din. The more I read online about kidney disease the more ako naiiyak kasi parang irreversible na sya.  We're still hoping he gets well & tinutuloy pa din namin home treatments nya pero ang hirap talaga mag administer nung SQ kasi ako mismo takot sa injection.  His next blood test is in 2 weeks. Sana tuluyan nang bumaba yung creatinine.

I called VIP white plains earlier to inquire. 9am-7pm lang pala yung clinic hours nila. I'm very happy so far with Doc. Gina kaya kahit malapit lang sa amin yung white plains sa mandaluyong ko pa din dadalhin yung baby ko.

^ hi sis! sorry to hear about your dog. my dog also has a kidney condition and we're lucky na nasa elevated creatinine palang but maintenance meds na rin and quarterly lab test.

may i know how you learned about his condition? na ask mo ba si doc how much yung dialysis?

we're nearer to white plains also, but still go to doc gina. kampante kasi kami sa kanya.

siguro pag nag pickup na wp, tsaka sila mag extend ng hours. so far kasi mejo konti palang patients nila. but i love that they are there. for any emergency, mas madali tumakbo kesa sa mandaluyong na always traffic.


anyway i hope and pray your dog gets better. kaya mo yan, sis.

^thank you sis! After work nga nagmamadali ako umuwi to check on my dog. It's frustrating sometimes kasi parang ok naman sya. Makulit & lively sya lately. I like to think our home treatments are going to make him healthy again.

Nung January he started vomiting, diarrhea & he wouldn't eat anything so we brought him to VIP. Unfortunately umalis na pala is Doc Riza so I just got any vet on duty. Yung vet had her assistant get his temp & a sample of the stool tapos diagnosis nya was na impacho lang daw. So she prescribed some meds to take home. Then last May it happened again so we went back & this time we got Doc Gina. Matagal na pala sya sa VIP. That was the first time I met her so akala ko bago lang but I was impressed by the way she treated my dog. She took a complete blood work up & that's when we discovered his creatinine levels & na anemic pala sya. She recommended 3 days stay sa hospital for the dialysis. Nung sinabi nya na kelangan ko iwan alaga ko nag close agad yung mind ko. I didn't even bother to ask for the price of the procedure. 1st visit ko kasi sa VIP more than a year ako nahawaan dog ko ng ticks, malamang from one of the other patients in the waiting area. Plus, di sya sanay na naiiwan sa strangers & maselan sya kumain. Medyo rare breed so pampered sya sa bahay. Nag offer naman is Doc Gina ng suite room where 2 people can stay overnight with the patient pero hindi ko ma imagine spending 3 nights at VIP. Paranoid din ako sa fleas & ticks eh.

Sorry ang haba na ng kwento. It helps to be sharing it with people who understand that our dogs are like family too. Thanks for the link! I keep searching online when I have time. Baka sakaling meron ako mahanap na makapagpagaling sa kanya.

hi everyone..

i like vip in mandaluyong.

my micro mini pinscher was very sick 3 years ago. I brought her to the nearest vet, which was animal house at metrowalk.
the doctors there do not care at all about the pets.
i called in a panic because my furry baby vomited. the doctor who i spoke to told me that my dog was going to die that night. no hope na daw. this is after i spent over 16k on medicine and doctor's fees.

i then researched where i could bring my baby. that's when i found vip in mandaluyong.
brought her there, last hope.
they cured her. for less than 700 pesos.

but, my baby had another emergency last saturday. tried to bring her to vip but it was flooded. the clinic was closed.

animal house in makati saved us.

my question is... the vip in white plains, is it 24 hours?

^ Sis, the number of VIP white plains is 962-1552 to 54. You can call them to inquire if they accept emergencies but when I called last Sunday 9am to 7pm lang daw sila.

Btw, would anyone here know what happened to Doc. Riza? Did she open her own clinic?

moccaccino, yup mejo matagal na si doc gina dun. kasi yung eldest dog ko is about 6 yrs old, sa kanya yun dinala for first vax... doc gina is very compassionate. matyaga rin sya kaya i like her... yung nga lang yung alaga kong 3 yr old (with kidney issue) mejo allergic sa kanya kasi tuwing nagkikita sila may injection involved... mayabang si pogi ko, astig yun. pero kay doc gina tiklop sya.  hehe

d_zialcita, flooding of the clinic and the surrounding area din ang concern ko during rainy season. kaya nga im so glad that they have a new clinic in white plains.

Was at VIP yesterday for my furbaby's shot. Every weekend na kasi kami andun sa mandaluyong branch. Can anyone recommend a good weekend vet that's part of the duty rotation there? Mawawala daw kasi si Doc Gina muna sa weekend shift. Na trauma na kasi ako (at ang furbaby ko) sa kahit sinong vet nalang. Mas kampante ako pag may recommendation.
