Oh, man. Nakakalungkot naman. From misdiagnosed sicknesses to beloved pets passing away. I had one pass away at the mandaluyong branch. At the time I felt like one of our sis here, who thought na sana di ko na lang dinala sa vet so that in his dying day nakapalibot sa kanya family namin. But then again, in time, I thought, I wanted to give him a fighting chance and he will only have that if I bring him to the vet. I guess that's a better way to look at it so we can cope with the passing away of our furry friends.

Thanks a lot @abuanddiego! yes I believe na may good reason kung bakit nangyari yun, tatlo lang kami ng mga kapatid ko na mas bata sakin naiwan dito samin sa bulacan,tapos binaha pa kami, baka kung buhay pa si starr mas mahirapan pa siya.

@wannabepreggy malaki talaga possibility na nauntog siya, katabi kasi ng nanay ko yung matulog sa kama. siguro pag tuilog na si mama hindi nya napapansin na tumatalon from bed to floor, tapos na stress pa nung nilipat sa kulungan. ayaw na tuloy niya mag-alaga ng chi ulit. too young nga! buti naman in good shape siya.^^

Sa Animal Care Specialists ang vet clinic ng pets ko and wala akong masasabi kundi papuri sa lahat ng vets nila especially Doc Siday (na madalas din nasa VIP Alabang) and Doc Raymond. I'm so thankful sa lahat ng nagawa nila para sa mga alaga ko.

An honest experience in VIP with DOC NIELSEN.

My cat is still confined now in a clinic in Makati. We brought him to VIP cos a reluctant vet from CARLVELDON Clinic in Cartimar wasn't able to perform correct procedure to my cat.

Doc Nielsen felt my cat's bladder and said his bladder already ruptured and fluid came to his abdomen already. Doc Nielsen didn't perform any tests (e.i. XRAY, ULTRASOUND, CBC, URINALYSIS) except from inserting a syringe to my cat's abdomen. He just knew our cat hasn't peed for 2 days from a blockage and catheterization. Doc Nielsen said he needs to perform a major operation that will take all the fluid out from his abdomen and from his "RUPTURED BLADDER". He said it costs 15k and he gave our cat 70% chance of DYING, and 30% chance of surviving from the operation. We lost hope. I was crying and thought of euthanasia cos I didn't want to make it hard for our cat. He also thought of euthanasia and said it is upon our approval. I researched about fluid in abdomen and read a chance that IT CAN BE TREATED BY ANTIBIOTICS. Doc Nielsen told us to bring our baby back home and he just gave him pain reliever so he won't feel the pain of dying (YES, HE SAID OUR CAT IS DYING). He gave our cat 24hrs to live. We told him that he only can't move cos he was sedated minutes ago before we brought him to their hospital.

I didn't surrender. We brought him to a clinic in Makati and thought of trying and getting a second opinion. I said to myself, if it was the same diagnosis, then we'll just bring our cat back home and stay with him until his last breath. He was then inserted by a catheter and it was successful. My sister was hopeless and so I am, but our baby's new doctor is confident she needed to do a catheterization. Our baby stayed in this clinic and the next morning, the doctor said he was able to release all the fluid from his abdomen due to catheterization and antibiotics, plus his BLADDER WASN'T RUPTURED AT ALL. She performed ultrasound and xray right away and was able to get the results. She also performed urology when air is inserted to the bladder just to see if it was ruptured or not. Thank GOD it wasn't! Our Chirrie is still in Animal House clinic in Makati. He now is able to eat on his own and pee on his own after his 3rd catheterization and 2 weeks stay in the clinic. His white blood cells are stable. His creatinine went down. Though he had 3 seizures this morning so his doctor asked for another days in the clinic for her to observe our baby. We'll wait until Sunday. Praying that we can take him back home and take care of him here. He's a CKD patient, meaning his kidneys are starting to deteriorate and lifetime medications must be given intravenously.

My verdict about VIP hospital in Mandaluyong and DOC NIELSEN? DO NOT GIVE DIAGNOSIS TO ANY PATIENTS IF ANY OF THE TESTS NEEDED WEREN'T PERFORMED IN THE FIRST PLACE. AND PLEASE DO NOT SCARE AWAY PET OWNERS/PET PARENTS WITH YOUR EPIC FAIL DIAGNOSIS.

Thank you darling,.. My cat is turning 6 this December. Middle-aged male cat na siya so he's really prone to kidney disease. I feed my cats dry catfood which is why he got it. The doctor said he had crystal stones in his bladder so he had a blockage. It started there daw. The crystal stones are due to salty food, parang humans, too much salt will cause UTI, to cats, they call it FLUTD (feline urinary tract disease). My cat is a castrated male and he's super prone daw.

You're welcome. It's good to know that he's now at home. I've read from some holistic vets in the US that the most common cause of kidney disease in cats and dogs is dry dogfood. salt can be a culprit but a poor quality diet is usually the main cause. Since both are carnivores, it is very hard for them to digest plant matters, by-products, and food which lacks moisture. What was the brand you were giving him? Did they change his diet?

Thanks so much sweetie! Tell you what, he's now super duper fine! He's finally pooped and peed on his own since we brought him back home.

We're supposed to bring him back to the vet tomorrow earlier than his scheduled vet visit on Sept. 4th. But he did it anyway! No need. His vet changed his diet to a special one. Royal Canin wet food na his food since then. He also has ongoing medications. Actually forever his supplements. The antibiotic is to kill the infection.

He's super alright now. Thanks to Doc Alvarez! She's awesome! I recommend her and their hospital. And you know what? His hospital bill is 21k plus diba? Meron pa kami balance na 10k and it's fine with them if we pay installment.

They're heaven sent!

^i'm happy for you sis that your cat is now ok, it's a good thing you sought for a second opinion. we owners really need to be pro-active about our pets. it's really unusual for me to hear that doc nielsen didn't order any laboratory exam for your cat after his first assessment, when all the usual workups is within reach at VIP. a routine checkup for any of my dogs (when something is wrong with them) would cost me a minimum of php 3000 because of lab workups at VIP. kindda interesting what he saw when he inserted a needle in your cat's abdomen to make him conclude the worst.

doc nick carpio is also good. he's very nice, soft-spoken and is one of the more experienced vets of VIP. i wonder why he asked you to head for mandaluyong just for catheterization? they (including animal specialists in tiendesitas) would only recommend their patients to go to the main hospital if they think he'd need an extensive workup or treatment.

I thank the Lord for the extension of our Bingbing's life... The best decision we made was actually asking for a 2nd opinion and not giving up on him...

So mga sis, just keep on loving your pet babies, kasi you are their parents and a parent will never give up on her child.

If you have a gut feeling that there is something wrong, research for yourself. Read articles about the signs and symptoms your pets are showing. And most important, don't lose hope. Ask your vet, talk to him/her "heart-to-heart" about everything that he/she can do to save your baby pet. If they know you want to try everything, he/she will do everything also. Please don't bother about the money kasi mas importante ang life.

our Bingbing is still fighting until now. We still have 10k balance from the 25k total bill from Animal House. Super bait nila..

I can relate sis. My eldest had distemper 3years ago and the vet told me that even if the dog survive, they will forever be carriers of the virus so there is no other way but to put the dog to sleep. I was thinking and crying for months, sabi ko kung makakasama ang anak ko sa ibang dogs, tama nga sigurong mawala sya kasi di kaya ng konsensya ko na sya ang dahilan ang sufferings ng iba. But after doing lots of research, I found out that there's already a cure for the virus. Oh diba senior/head/community vet pa yun pero di sya updated. I was saving up for the procedure, actually VIP ang sadya ko that time bec. they are the first clinic to offer it, but out of nowhere bigla na lang may sumulpot na vet clinic near our house. Ayun chika-chika kami ng vet then she told me to conduct the tests. After some hours of waiting, would you believe na negative ang results? Boy I was the happiest pet parent when I heard the good news. Kahit si Doc di makapaniwala kung pano nangyare yun, wala syang ibang nasabi kundi, "Ang galing ni Diego!"

I think things like this are just trials given to us. Siguro chinecheck lang ni God kung hanggang san tayo when it comes to our pets. Pero mayabang na ako ngayon, for we survived a deadly disease. sabi ko nga, Bring it on! We're ready for anything!

I agree that finding a good vet and doing our own research is very important when we have pets, for it can really save their lives. Actually halos lahat naman ng info nasa net na, they're just waiting to be discovered. Basta let's always do our best, hold on and pray, malalagpasan din natin lahat ng trials in pet parenting

We've been going to VIP for years now. Wala naman akong complain... But im thinking of getting a second opinion about my pup's kidney issues. I have yet to find a clinic with a complete lab needed for the tests. Meron new clinic along katips/white plains but i havent checked them out.

Pag serious cases, i would suggest getting a second opinion. It does not necessarily mean na di ok yung current vet natin. Pero minsan may na-miss din sila and maganda rin to hear another vet's opinion and point of view.

Minsan i want to think na sira ang machine/lab ng VIP. Gusto ko kasi normal ang test results ng pup ko.

Hi i'm newb, i have prob, my shihtzu-mal kasi positive sa parvovirus, naka confine sya ngayon sa vets in practice VIP Hospital,
and yung doc na nag assist sa akin hnd ko gusto,parang tamad at walng pakialam sa aso ko.
i need help, sino po marerecommend nyong vet sa akin?bago lang [textspeak!] kami sa vets in practice, then yung nakuha ko pa, walang kwenta, nakakabwesit, parang laging nagmamadali,
gusto ko sya palitan, sino po kaya marerecommend nyo, yung mabait sana,and yung may care talaga sa mga animals, please i need po advice,..

Last week on feb. 18. our dog get anti rabies injection and micro chip.
This week she started to vomit and getting diarrhea.
she is in vets in practise now suffering the parvovirus 
she is 10 month now.

is there aynthing we can do for her?
which doc in vip is best for her?
or should we take her to another specialist?

Do vets in VIP Alabang treat exotic pets, too? We have a baby hedgehog named THORn! and we'd like an experienced vet for him in case we need one in the future *cross-fingers*.
