best credit card to use when traveling abroad

Just notified both BDO and BPI about my trip this week. Inquired na din about their charges.

BPI MC: current conversion rate to peso at the time of posting + 1.75%
BDO MC: SGD (will be going to SG kasi) to USD then USD to peso + 2%

Gusto ko pa naman gamitin BDO CC but looks like I'm just gonna use BPI instead

based on my experience a few years ago nun citibank at hsbc lang ang cards ko, mas ok gamitin ang HSBC.

same day purchase i used both citibank MC and hsbc MC. when i checked the online statements mas mahal ang conversion rate ni citibank. so from then on, puro hsbc na lang ginagamit ko abroad. pero dala ko pa rin yun citibank pang back up. nagamit ko lang sya when i was in SG kasi may promo sila na extra 10% off sa levi's pag citibank na card yun ginamit. hehe.


may bearing ba sa conversion rate pag MC or Visa?

i tried naman to use HSBC and Standard Chartered when I went to HKG early this year. same day purchase ulit. HSBC still turned out to be better than SC. so it's still HSBC for me. ewan ko lang kung mag iiba yan sa mga susunod na months kasi may email notice sila about changing yun fees/charges nila for foreign transactions e.

Ano ang fees na chinacharge ng HSBC and how much?

Yun lang ang card ko so I'm thinking if I should just bring enough money to SG for my cash expenses, and then shopping would be card na.

I still go with Citibank because of their tie-up with AsiaMiles. Medyo mataas conversion rate nya compared with my BPI card.

What I like about Citibank the points don't expire kaya I accumulate a lot of points through the years then I convert them to miles with my AsiaMiles to redeem tickets or hotel stays.

Eventhough I live in Singapore, I never own a local (SG) credit card.  I still use my BPI worldperks card for the delta miles, and the exchange rate is not that bad.  I often use it to book airtickets and hotels.  I still have savings with BPI therefore, I am able to waive annual charges all the time.

^Mabilis nga BPI mag waive ng annual fees. I also have accounts with them. With Citibank, automatic na all my cards with them are waived.

RCBC Platinum/Black
HSBC Red (48.66/$)
BDO Shopmore (just checked my bills, conversion rates were at 47.90, 47.73, 47.66/$)

Every time we go abroad, we only use our BPI credit cards.  From all the credit cards we have, BPI has the lowest conversion rate.

Yes.  1 of our businesses earns US$ kaya I like that option of  paying in US$

WARNING:
We used Bank of Commerce VISA for soooo long. Also had that $payment option.  Okay.
Tapos BOC shifted to MASTERCARD 1st Qtr of this year.

Sinungaling pa -- kesyo yung retailers daw nag add on. I pointed out that  adding to what a cardholder signs is ILLEGAL. 
Como no advance notice ang BOC of this practice --  we have referred it to our lawyers. 

Read the fine print too.
I thought UNION BANK was converting $billings at good rates -- if you read the fine print -- it adds 2percent over & above the converted amount. 

I will stick to VISA cards. -- mukhang MasterCard allows the banks to add on 5-10percent.
So, I am now back to carrying cash or positioning cash in a US bank account.  If my net add-on after conversion and additional fees amounts to 10percent -- sayang din yon.

I just use my metrobank credit card when travelling abroad, so far ok naman ang conversion rates lalo na nung ginamit ko in thailand.

Big purchases na gusto kong hulugan: RCBC (unli 0%)
For USD purchases: BDO Amex
If 3K ang conversion ng purchase: Megaworld Citi (free movie lol) or BPI (Jollibee treats)-- kahit purchases abroad ok for promos
3x the points: Femme Signature Visa

I like that we have perks in some places, we can redeem points and use it at Costco
Otherwise, substitute between visa and master

I've used BDO master card abroad 2% conversation rate.
I applied citibank credit card but since it was discussed here the conversion rate is 3.5% i cancelled my application sobrang taas kasi..
