best credit card to use when traveling abroad

baliktad naman yung sabi sakin ng bank when i called about that. if i inform them daw na i will be using my card abroad, they will remove all securities sa card ko, that's why i didnt bother to inform them everytime i'm abroad. and yun nga, they know my card history.

the only time they called me abroad was when i charged half a million worth of transaction. usually kasi di sosobra sa 100k maximum charge ko per transaction. natuwa naman ako na tumawag kasi i was waiting for them to call me about that talaga.

sis, are you referring to Citibank?  kasi ako when I informed them that I was going abroad, sabi nila they will remove all security features.  And kung may fraud (i.e. charges here in Manila on dates that I said I will be in US) I will be liable for them daw.  I was so turned off I cannot understand the logic.  Then I called Citi Platinum hotline, and the agent there recommended na wag na lang remove yung security features.  He will just note that I am out of the country and I might receive a call daw to verify some transactions I made.  So yun na lang ginawa ko and didn't experience any problem naman

I always use Standard Chartered and Citibank Visa abroad. Sa Standard Chartered after using it, may rate conversion na agad sa text ng bank.

 i used my BPI mastercard when i purchased my GOyard bag, coz pansin ko okey lang ang conversion rate nya, even when i used it sa SG last june forhotel pyment and resto pansin ko okey ang conversion nya

I s used my  Visa dati  , kaso parang mas mataas ng konti ang  rate ng conversion nya compared to BPI

I always use HSBC, the rate is very close to BSP's closing rate, may times na mas mababa pa conversion (this was when we were in Hong Kong) ng credit card kesa sa bili ko ng HK dollar, NEVER use CITIBANK (in my experience), the rate is super taas!, the rate they use is higher by at least P1!!!!

The problem lang with Amex when you travel in Europe most merchants don't accept the card. Preferred pa rin nila is Visa or Carte Bleu as they call it or Mastercard.

i'll NEVER use Citibank na. ever. i just recently used it online to purchase our airline tickets going to US. they charged equivalent to P43.7 per $1. when i asked bpi their conversion rate for the same day i used it, it's only P41.9. haayyy sisibank talaga yang citibank.

BPI mastercard, charges the lowest foreign conversion fee, AFAIK. Only 0.75% of the charged amount.

Others Philippine issued cards, more than 1% na.

Metrobank offers a dollar mastercard - which is actually better so that no foreign conversion fee happens if you are purchasing in US dollar amounts. I'm not so sure if this is too easy for most people to get this card. But if it is, and I have dollar accounts in Metrobank that are funded regularly, I'd rather use this one.

^ BPI gold Mastercard gamit ko okey naman  ang conversion , saka walang hassle mabilis pa transaction!

and i dont notify the bank if im going out of the country , so far happy naman ako sa BPI

locally naman Visa gnagmit ko most of the tine

^any experience with BDO Gold MC and Citibank Visa? Are there extra fees and charges if I use them abroad or direct conversion lang? Not really intending to use them but bringing them in case of emergency lang.

based on my experience a few years ago nun citibank at hsbc lang ang cards ko, mas ok gamitin ang HSBC.

same day purchase i used both citibank MC and hsbc MC. when i checked the online statements mas mahal ang conversion rate ni citibank. so from then on, puro hsbc na lang ginagamit ko abroad. pero dala ko pa rin yun citibank pang back up. nagamit ko lang sya when i was in SG kasi may promo sila na extra 10% off sa levi's pag citibank na card yun ginamit. hehe.

Used by BPI Amore in my recent trip, Visa kasi yun some merchants nga papiliin ka if gusto mo charge sa peso or local currency of the country you're in. May na-encounter lang kami na bigla na ni-convert sa peso without asking. Parang no prob naman sa paggamit ko nung card, intay ko lang bill kung wala pa rin prob or discrepancies. Hehe sana

2. Platinum cathay pacific amex, dual, so pwede us$ payment. Ok ito sa US.
3. Hsbc

Yan top3 ko. The rest like citibank, metrobank, mas mataas conversion rate nila. Back up na lang sila if maubos ko credit limit ng 3, which is impossible. Mataas sila magbigay ng credit limit and small items lang binibili ko. Cash is king pa din.

I am using my Metrobank Gold Mastercard. Ok naman at secured kasi tumatawag pa sa akin ang bank bago nila approve ang transaction para macheck kung talagang andon ko sa country kung saan ginagamit ang card ko.
