Chickenpox
« on: April 21, 2011, 03:54:46 am »
Hi. It's summer and chicken pox is in season.
Any tips on how to relive the itch that goes with it and anything else to help speed up the process?
What are your insights and experiences? Thanks

i just recovered from it, mga 3 wks pa lang... and soo late na ako nagkaron nito kasi i'm in my mid 30s na.. konti lang lumabas sa akin, 2 sa face, 2 sa neck, and walang 10 sa back... karamihan, maliliit lang ang blisters.. itchy, yes... so i'm taking antihistamine.. first 3 days were uneasy feeling... fever and body ache plus disgusting headache.. took a bath with warm water... then i'm putting vit. E on them... even there were scabs.. DON'T SCRATCH! it will leave a deep scar...  ;)

Tell me about chickenpox. I just got back from it, and at 27 it's a very late age to have it. And boy, was it bad. Ang taas ng lagnat ko. Blisters and wounds all over my face and torso. May konti sa limbs. As in, I felt really ugly nung kasagsagan ng bulutong.

The first doctor that I went to didn't prescribe anything because you're supposed to let it run its course, pero naawa yata sa akin ang pamilya so they sought another doctor for meds. My antiviral drug, Zovirax, is freaking expensive--Php282 isang tableta. And I had to take it thrice a day for five days. So do the math.

And the itchiness, grabe, hindi ako papatulugin talaga. Buti may gamot din dun, Iterax (which is also what I take for my allergies). Knockout naman ako dun, kasi nakaka-antok ang gamot na yun.

So now the worst is over, pero ang dami ko pa ring sugat sa katawan. I still have craters on my face [ :D ] pero at least wala nang wounds or anything--I just look like I had a bad rash or acne breakout.

In a way I am glad that it's over. Ayoko ng ganoong sakit! Goodbye chickenpox, good riddance!

There's an alternative to Zovirax na cheaper but same generic name. Mas affective if taken within 24-48 hours after blister appears otherwise not so much use. There's a pill taken for the itchiness also. And right after, go to the derma for Carboxy so the scar wouldnt be as deep with matching diamond peel, glycol peel and tretinoin.
Because of the meds, not a lot of blisters came out and no itchiness talaga. I think the silver lining was that it gave ^me time to really let my body rest and I got to read and pray a lot.

i was 16 when i had chicken pox. naka-inom agad ako ng zovirax, at ang pangontra sa kati nakalimutan ko na, ang alam ko anti-histamine sya. hindi na nagkaroon ng chance na dumami pa yung mga blisters. makati sya pero kasi konti lang ang tumubo, so tolerable lang. no visible scars yung sakin.

I tried using Vitaminn E and Rosehip Oil but according to my Derma they won't really do any good. Well, no harm either. But just make sure you wait for the scabs to fall off by itself. And the Carboxy after I healed helped tremendously.

^sis carmel, do you remember the name of the med which is a cheaper alternative to Zovirax? Napapraning talaga ako dito sa chicken pox. I think I ought to get myself vaccinated. I'm 26 at hindi pa 'ko nagkakaroon.

My eldest son has chicken pox right now, he had it last Friday. 1st blister appeared on his forehead. I was very terrified because I have a 4 years old and 2 years old and baka mahawa sila and I haven't had chicken pox too. I isolated my son in a room and he stayed there muna. Now on the 3rd day, I sent my 2 younger sons to my mom dun muna sila.

Prescribed medicines were aciclovir syrup herpex 50ml - 580, acyclovir zovirax cream 2g - 720, iterax - 280 then may calamine lotion and biogesic pa kami. Expensive pala ng medicines na ito, I hope gumana and advised my son wag kakamutin para hindi mag-scar.

Can I also use sebo de macho? Ilalagay daw yun kapag magaling na, how will I know if it's okay to put the sebo de macho na. Maputi kasi son ko and makinis ang balat, sayang kasi balik VTRs na kami nagkachicken pox siya bigla, nahawa sa school there were already 9 in their class who has chicken pox.

I was a senior HS nung nagkaron ako nito and two weeks ako hindi nakapasok. I didn't take any meds nor I applied anything onto my skin, hinayaan ko lang but I made sure 'di ko kinamot. It healed by itself.

I had a friend na twice nagka-chicken pox. The first time daw kasi uminom siya ng meds so baka hindi lumabas lahat ng dapat lumabas, kaya umulit.

^yes nakakahawa. i had shingles noong matanda na ako. parang umulit lang na chicken pox pero nasa isang area lang. yung shingles or herpes zoster blisters ko ay nasa bra line lang kaya keber na lang ako kung mag-scar sya pero nawala din naman. i had chicken pox when i was in grade 4. i had it during summer vacation kaya parang walang nangyari noong bumalik na ako sa school. i didn't get black scars actually puti sya and since maputi ako noon (tan na ako ngayon) kaya hindi halata yung mga scars.

my 3-year old daughter now has chickenpox. ang daming lumabas kasi pinakain ng sangkatutak na itlog ng nanay ko. alam mo naman ang matatanda mahilig sa mga sabi-sabi kaya ayun tadtad ng bulutong yung anak ko. buti na lang hindi pa sya nag-aaral. her pedia prescribed her with isoprinosine (anti-viral), iterax, allerkid, and zovirax cream. kaya pala droggy si bunso dahil dun sa iterax. buti na lang yung panganay ko complete na yung doses nya anti-chickenpox.

The hardest part of having chicken pox is the kati na nararamdaman mo.

My brother had chicken pox a few weeks ago, and ngayon na pagaling na sya ako naman! Btw, I'm already 28 and my brother is 33.
