Pros and Cons of Living in a Condominium against living in a house

regarding parking isa pang issue yan. i guess para sa mga bibili ng car dapat i-consider muna kung ilan cars and ilan ang parking space. sa village kasi namin may mga 1 car garage houses tapos 3 ang kotse so nasa kalsada naka park. yung 3 lanes na street nagiging one lane na lang.

for the new condos mandatory na ang parking space pag bumili ng condo unit. 1:1 ratio rule na siya sa qc and sa makati. i'm not sure sa ibang cities.

hassle talaga ang walang parking or kulang ang parking. pero dapat talaga bago bumili isipin muna kung saan ilalagay ang sasakyan para hindi rin maka istorbo sa ibang tao lalo na sa mga nag pa-park sa streets na dapat gamitin as daanan nagiging parking space pa.

When we be ught this unit before we werent told na may issue sa parking. We asked if we can buy another slot pa nga at first since our house in san juan is being rented out. So while waiting for the contract to end, we opted to buy a unit muna. So ayun now ang problem namin is parking. but im glad malapit lapit na rin matapos yung contract ng tenant namin sa house and we can move out na dito.

^parang alam ko na kung anong condo ito. I'm from pasig too e and waiting for the turnover of our unit na from dmci mlpt lang din sa place nyo. Kaya pala most of the time na dumadaan kami dyan i always saw cars na nkapark outside/along the street. maybe, ito yung mga wala talagang parking slot no?

Not sure when you say outside the street sis since I know most the unit owners here park at the guest parking area, pinagkakasya ng mga guards na lang. Kasi if they park along the street, kina clamp ng mga guards namin dito hehe... pm me san ka banda sis. naku check nyo sis the turnover ha. Kasi from my experience nadelay sila ng almost two weeks from their promise. Kung di ko kinulit kulit, yung iba daw umaabot ng month/s.

I live in the province (Cagayan de Oro), but every time I visit my sister in Makati, my husband, dad, and I would rent a condo unit. We don't go to a hotel kasi mahal and wala ka masyadong amenities (apart from free breakfast). Sa condo units that we rent, we get to cook our own food. And kumpleto ang mga gamit, so talagang parang may bahay kami. Although we don't bring our own car, I think I understand yung issue ng car park and everything kasi my sister lives in a condo in Makati. Suerte lang nga lang siya kasi alagang-alaga silang mga homeowners, so they have no problem with parking and everything else. 'Di nga lang sila puede mag-alaga and magdala ng pets inside the building. And may limit din ang number of occupants per unit. The bigger ones, mga 5 persons ang maximum. The smaller ones (bachelor's pads), mga 2 to 3 persons lang dapat.

I like living in a condo kasi may siguradong security and very convenient siya. We have a house dito sa province, but dream ko pa rin magkaroon ng condo sa isang green condominium building dito.

Very nice information. I guess to each his own. I chose condo because of its security, easy to maintain over house and lot. But would also like to own house and lot someday. For now and in my current state, I just need a condo.

Glad I found this thread. I read through some pages and would just like to share how it is for my case.

Back in 2011, I got a pre-selling unit at Avida Towers Centera. I was just single back then, which is why I got a 1 BR unit. Fast forward 5 years (2016), the unit was turned over but I no longer need a 1 BR by then. Reason is that I gave birth in 2013 and would need a bigger living space for myself and my son. I ended up leasing my unit in Avida and is still currently tenanted. However, I am also actively selling it (PM me if you're interested!).

I got a pre-selling 3BR unit from DMCI in 2017, to be turned over in 2023. The timing is perfect because my son would be 10 years old by then and we would really need the space. We are currently living with my parents and God is really good because the DMCI community where I got our unit is just 5 mins walking distance from my parents' house. It's very convenient as well because my son's school is less than 2km away from the area, and my office is just less than 5km away (1 bus ride away, to be exact).  Although I dream of owning a H&L, it will not be advantageous in our case. Perhaps I can get one upon retirement but definitely not in Metro Manila

I prefer living in a townhouse because i find it more convenient in terms of loading and unloading things.  When I arrive home, I just park my car in front and go straight to the door, vs parking in the basement and having to use the elevator every single day. 

Parking is a problem since we have limited space in our mini village.  Hopefully we can move out to a bigger house before the village becomes fully occupied.  At this state na 50% occupancy we are all having problems na with parking, how much more next time

Masasabi ko lang is if you are sensitive to noise, think it over many, many, many times before buying a condo to live in full time and long term. Ako kasi I don't have the money to buy a house here in quezon city, so condo pa rin ang bagsak ko. Idaan na lang daw  sa soundproofing, etc., when my unit has been turned over. Sana nga it's enough. Naisip ko nga na sana mas naghanap ako outside manila, kasi kapag napag-uusapan yung mga prices nung mga investments nung mga ibang coworkers ko, they were able to buy a detached house for just a little over the price of my condo, yun nga lang hindi daw kasing prime location. But I imagine na baka mas magustuhan ko rin naman tumira kahit sa malayo and mas simple pero mas peaceful and has more space as I grow older.

I understand the need of condos because with the traffic in Metro Manila, we all want to live closer to our workplace instead of wasting so many hours on the road. If budget is tight and buying a standalone house and lot in Metro is not feasible, then try to buy a lot outside Manila. There are many being sold right now like in Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, etc. At least, when you grow older and want your own house, you have a lot where you can build it. In 10 years or 20 years time, that lot will be very expensive and you will be thankful you bought it earlier.

Yun masasabi kong pinaka-con in condo living, aside from higher monthly dues, you have to buy or rent a separate parking slot kung may car ka. Kaya naappreciate ko talaga na we have our own car garage sa isa namin house since we have 2cars we can freely park it outside sa harap ng house namin na walang magagalit unlike sa condo bibigyan ka ng memo or pagbabayarin ka pag nagpark ka ng isa pang car mo kahit transient lang.

^ True. Parking space in condos now also costs as much as buying a 150sqm lot outside Metro Manila. Imagine paying P600-800k for a 12sqm space. If you have 2 cars, you?d be paying P1.6M na just to park your 2 cars.

True, nakakatakot lang sa condos pag may earthquakes.

We live in a midrise condo building and hinde naman scary nung ilan beses ngaka earthquake. But I guess kung nasa high rise building ka and you live on the top floor, I'm sure that will really be freaky.

Ang downside for us aside form the limited space is that ang hirap mag linis ng furniture like couches. Nung nasa townhouse kame, madaling mag clean and ibabad under the sun, now, kelangan talaga mag hire ng professional carpet and couch cleaners. Another would be, my hubby is limited in what he can do with the car. Unlike with a normal garage na pwede mo wash your own car, samin bawal and ang limited ng space para mag DIY ng mga kung ano ano.

Sa panahon ng pandemic tulad ng COVID-19 ngayon masasabi ko na isa ito sa CON sa condo living. As in. Isipin niyo yung gaano kayo kadami sa isang building palang Kaya dami nagpa-positive na condo living people eh.

^Naisip ko din yan sis. And imagine ang liit ng space na iikutan. We were able to sell our condo last January and move to a townhouse. Masisiraan siguro ko ng ulo kung andon pa kame.

^Buti nalang itong condo namin eh 5-Storey walk up building. So wala ng elevator. Less contamination pa. Grabe sa elevators palang yung chance mo makakuha ng virus ang taas taas na. Ito ngang nasa tapat namin. May 2 kids siya nag evacuate talaga sila sa province bago mag start itong quarantine. Kasi bukod sa two kids, may senior pa sila.
