Pros and Cons of Living in a Condominium against living in a house

I would rather have our own house and lot than living in a condo...may bahay ka na may lupa ka pa =) Yes for modernization ok ang condo, sosyal tingnan, may security kasi may guard, accessible sa lahat and maraming amenities pero come to think of it lahat ng meron sa condo communities meron din sa mga subdivisions and villages.

The townhouse we got has security, club house and other amenities.  I'm quite happy with the fact that I don't have to wait for elevator when I arrive, park and pasok na ako sa house.  I can't wait to transfer after the interior is finished.

Fiance wants a big condo, I want a townhouse. Ayoko ng condo talaga. Im claustrophobic and  lived in a 3br condo na and ayoko pa rin!
Where are the nice townhouses located? Fiance's mom said meron daw sa New Manila area but can't find one eh =(

I'd like to have a house if its in Metro Manila and not at its outskirts.

but if i'd have to travel about at least an hour a day to work, i'd consider having a condo.

but having a condo may not work for you because most if not all, will not end up in your hands after a few decades. In addition, the monthly association dues et al that you pay might be horrendous.

some condos have their own pools, gyms, security, play area/recreation area. this is something that not every house or village can have. at minsan agawan pa ng parking kung mga kapit bahay mo maraming kotse

hay eto problema ko ngaun... may second hand n a condo kasi saming binebenta sa marikina natetempt kaming bilhin pero ang pumipigil sakin is yung travel time kaya ka nga nag condo eh dapat malapit na sa place mo hehe...

ang mga bahay naman kasi ang lalayo na e...

used to live in a townhouse all my life, ok siya especially when you have a family already plus there is room for the house help.

but with me and hubby's situation na we're always out of the country, we opted for a condo unit kasi it's easier to maintain and security wise, mas ok. it's also small so perfect for a startup couple with no house help.

though we would invest in a house when we have a kid na or when we are sure where exactly we would settle.

Hello! My family and I are planning to move out of my in laws' house and will rent a place near the office in Makati. We have a few prospects but the best deal we have so far is a condo unit  in Makati. We have a 4 year old son and we work during nights. So, sa gabi its just the yaya and our son who will be left at home. I would just like to know the pros and cons of condo living against renting an apartment or house.

^ Considering your current set-up, living in a condo is safer and more convenient.  May 24/7 security and it's near your office.

Pag house or apartment kasi, may security issues especially if the location of the house or apartment is not inside a gated community.

kiz_me1109, how big is the condo? Ilang rooms? Normally it's not advisable kung family na unless malaki talaga yung space.

Sa condo kasi, you would get more convenience. But for house, you get more privacy.

A low rise condominium with a neighborhood would be a great choice. I used to rent at Boni Heights along Lawton Ave, Fort Boni. The ambiance is really relaxing and kid friendly. I felt like I was home except that mom was not with me.

Hi sis, the biggest pro for condo living is naturally location as its almost impossible to find a nice house in CBDs. If you do find, theyll be super expensive to rent. So you save on gas expenses and time,  and everything (like the mall, food, etc..) is close by. The only con is probably space, but that shouldnt be a problem as youre categorized as a small family or start up family wherein you only have 1 or 2 kids and they are still very young. So at you and your hubbys stage in life, its better to live in a condo as this is usually who condos cater to, the singles, couples and then the start up families. Kaya tignan mo mga commercials on TV and print, pag condo, single lifestyle or start up family. Pag bahay binebenta, family na talaga with 2 or more kids. Once your child gets bigger or you decide to have more kids, than youd need more space and a sense of real community wherein your kids can grow up with a group of neighborhood friends. A place where your family can settle down na talaga and call your own. Then it would then be time to rent or even better, buy a house. Also, by that time, you and your hubby would have been able to move up the corporate ladder and owning a house should become a priority. Kahit youd have to commute a little farther (as most subdivisions are not in CBDs) and it takes more time on your part, at that stage in life, its ok and worth it as you want to settle down and establish roots. A good idea would be rent to own. Kasi syempre iba talaga when you have your own home, it gives you a sense of security for your family. Its nice to own a condo as well, but its never really truly yours. The land is never yours and you can never do absolutely everything you want. Syempre in houses there are also subdivision associations, but of course you still have alot of authority over what youd like to do with your house.

Ok lang tumira kayo sa condo since you are renting pa lang naman. No huge commitment unlike pag binili niyo na tapos magsisi kayo.

Safe din siya for your child kasi ang alam ko sa mga condos mahigpit sila pati sa mga yaya so you are assured na walang basta basta papasok or papapasukin sa unit niyo considering both you and your husband are working at night.
