Pros and Cons of Living in a Condominium against living in a house

I prefer to live in a house. I have my own gate, garage, garden and backyard. I can expand rooms or add new rooms, t&B etc, if necessary. At sabi nga ng ibang sis natin, magiba man yan, mapapatayuan mo pa rin bec, its your own lot. Compared to condo where IMO I am purchasing a space from air.

Yup.  There are condo builders who create structures that barely passed the safety code.  I won't mention na lang which but you can easily see by how it is sa layout and size ng model designs nila. 

Unfortunately, there are also home builders who sell homes sa areas na masasabing unsafe.  However, mas ideal pa rin yun over condo kasi nga ang buildings ay ginigiba after a certain number of years. 

The only difference to this question ay kung of the clannish type ang family mo like yun sa mga old Chinese.  Those kasi create condo like buildings tapos lahat ng sa family kahit nagkaroon na ng family ay doon rin titira.  Yun old days kasi its like yun napapanood ninyo kay Jackie Chan na compound type but sa mahal kasi ng lot ngayon ay buildings then na ang norm ng most.

kung single ako, i would choose living in a nice condo. but since may sariling family na ako, mas better kung may sariling house, mas magandang investment ang bahay at lupa kesa sa condo lang.

at the moment, i can only afford to buy a P3-million condo unit/house (through a 10-year loan).  With that amount, i cannot afford to buy a decent house in metro manila area, so i ended up buying a condo unit (67.5 square meters in total).

At first, i wanted to buy a H & L in cavite as it costs less than P2m but my wife doesnt want a house far from office and so do i. We both agreed that it is better to live in a cramped space and sleep more that live in a big house but only have very little time for ourselves.

^someday pag tapos na ang loan ng condo ninyo sir, save up for a house and lot naman. aspiration for retirement na rin to. or if your kids are all grown up and financially stable by then, sila na ang pabilhin ninyo ng dream house ninyo hahaha!

A house and lot is far more better than condo... all buildings have 30 years span of life, meaning hanggang dun lang ang value and quality niya...so, in 30 years, yung million bucks na binili mo for a condo unit would be just a trash, kasi you have to invest for a new and better structure and if you want to sell it, rest assure nobody would dare to buy an old condominium, If you're working in Makati, you would observe it, the more older the building mas cheap and worse ammenities unlike the new ones, kaya nga mas maraming business ang nangangarap na malocate sa mas magandang buildings...i am here abroad and i have seen the proof of it...before, i was also convince of buying a condo unit, pero dito ko narealize na House and lot is far more good investment than living on a building... ang building marami kayong nagmamay-ari ng lote na tinitirikan niya...ang H & L if its yours then, it will be yours forever and you can improve it whenever you want... if you're a transient resident in the Philippines, then, condo would be fine for you...but, if you have a family that you dream to live in a better place, then, i would suggest your dream House and lot;)...by the way, the worst scenario of buying a condo is knowing the fact that WE dont have enough security with regards to government policies...look at what happened to WEST TOWER in Makati...kawawa ang mga resident na bumili ng million cost of unit na iinom lang pala ng GASOLINA pagdating ng panahon...gustuhin man nila ibenta or lumipat, sino naman ang bibili?...If only our government have the best security for Filipinos investing their money, then, hindi ako manghihinayang na gumastos ng Million of Pesos... I hope they would think of a better solution for this...

actually, may bahay din akong nabili pero additional 40 minutes na byahe para sa amin.  Mas pinili na lang namin na maliit ang space kasi isang anak lang naman talaga ang balak namin.  Kawawa kasi si wifey kung babyabyahe pa sya at ayaw na talaga ng bumibyahe.

house and lot syempre. but we dont wanna buy yung mga ready-made houses sa loob ng subdivision. gusto namin lote muna tapos kami magpapatayo ng house.

di ka gaanong sigurado kung matibay ang condo na bibilhin mo. you'll spend millions of pesos tapos pag nagkalindol, may crack na agad. in terms of security, mas nakakatakot sa condo. maraming krimen na ang nagaganap sa mga ganyang lugar. nakakatakot kasi di mo naman kilala lahat ng dwellers dun. tsaka parang napakasikip ng lugar, no place para makapag-expand.

^at kung minsan, inside job pa. kasabwat ng security yung mga pumapasok sa loob. kaya ako hindi convinced sa sinasabi nilang "safer" sa condo. kung talagang desidido ang magnanakaw, gagawan at gagawan ka ng pagnanakaw. IMO, same lang ang risk sa security, for both condo or h&l.

i agree with you sir. our house in a subdivision is just 40-60 minutes away but i don't want to be stressed out everyday to and from work. stressed ka na nga sa work, stressed ka pa sa byahe. no matter how fast you drive, pag stuck ka pa sa traffic, parang ang layo na tuloy ng bahay mo, nakaka high blood di ba? best decision we did was to buy this prime condo unit. so we have the best of both worlds. to think appreciating ang prices of condo properties. we bought the condo 5 years ago at 2.5 M and now it's worth 4 M up if we ever decide to give it up. rental naman around here is 20k up if we ever lease it out. what's important is how you live your life today di ba? quality of life ika nga. don't be discouraged by doomsayers sir. at least you have 2 properties in your own name while others are wishing they have titles too.

house syempre.. isa yun sa pangarap ko, sariling bahay at lupa. gusto ko din yun makikita ko yung pag gawa. kame i hubby mag decide ng ibang division ng bahay.. kapag condo kase parang kwarto lang ang pag aari mo.parang pinagandang apartment..haha

^korek ka dyan sis kaya nga magastos nun nagpa-interior ako ng condo last year kasi ayaw kong mukhang apartment.

Siguro depende talaga rin sa condo, meron kasi na parang tenement tawag Lang condo.

Depende talaga sa lifestyle balanced with financial capacity. Kasi sayang yun bahay ko sa cavite na Kung tutuusin ang lapit sa Manila kasi yung village tapat Lang ng sm bacoor. Ako nagpatayo nun so maganda materyales kasi ako nag approve ng Plano etc. Simula January 2008 caretaker Lang nakatira para d maluma bahay if iiwanan na walang nakatira. So 10 to 12k per month ang gastos ko para sa caretaker, assoc dues etc. Bayad sa amilyar na 16k/year, pa-pest control periodically atbp na gastusin.

Hindi ko afford bumili ng maayos na bahay sa lokasyon na pasado sa akin kaya condo binili ko. Importante kasi ang lokasyon sa Amin sa ngayon.


Kahit mabenta pa yung bahay d pa rin kakasya pambili ng maayos na bahay sa lokasyon na gusto ko. Wala pang 5M yun, e ang townhouse pa Lang dito sa metro Manila magkano na ang bentahan.


Importante sa akin ang quality of life kaya condo muna sa ngayon. Aanhin ko bahay na after ng byahe pauwi pagod na pagod na. Sa labas na rin kami nagdidinner nun kasi if sa bahay pa sobrang gutom na tapos tulog na anak namin. Hmm haba pa ng rason ko, pero d Lang talaga real property na nakatayo sa lupa ang pinaka-mainam sa Amin ngayon


Kaya sa tulad ko na d mahilig magcompromise ng comfort, e konting tiis muna, tiisin ko na lang magcondo. Iniisip ko na Lang na yun iba na ang floor area ng bahay e mas maliit pa sa kwarto tapos kinakaya naman nila basta masaya ang pamilya dun ta

I prefer living in a house rather than in a condo. I want to have my own house with a huge lot na pwedeng taniman ng fruit bearing trees, a small garden with vegetables and flowers.

Feeling ko kasi mas maaliwalas yung ganun rather than living in a condo. Lalo na kung may bata mas maganda talaga na sa house.
