naghahanap nga ako ng language exchange partner LOL kaso yung nakausap ko, arabic lang alam nya... enjoy naman kasi new friends... although merong iba na interested magshare ng mandarin.

ako naman, I'm looking for advance course... same with sis heatherette, I've learned chinese since nursery to 4th year, I also watch and understand chinese movies, kaya I'm looking for more advance course... yung tipong, kaya mong makipag talastasan with mainland china people...

and also yung computer chinese, nung panahon kasi naman we use, zhu-in, ngayon pinyin and simplified chinese na ang gamit....

helping in subbing a chinese video helped me in retaining what I previously learned and learning new words. mahirap at mabagal pero ganun talaga kung gustong makatipid Aside from that, nagbabasa din ako sa weibo.com ng mga "tweets" para masanay sa pagbabasa ng chinese.

@avesoriano, sa italki.com marami ka mahahanap dun language partner. I only know "putonghua" is mandarin. Im not sure of patonghwa.

i found out about this thread a little too late. my hubby and i could have enrolled at manila patriotic hs last summer. we speak fookien but our nephews and nieces are learning mandarin as it is the curriculum now. i can only read mandarin if there's a chu im like in wagi che. now it's much easier with the pinyin. even then, there are 4 tones which we need to relearn. i'm really getting older haaay.

Hi gals, do you know where to buy Chinese movies?  In a bookstore downtown they have such but only very few, and most of the movies are Korean.  I asked my friend where to buy, and she said she only watches online.  I think watching Chinese movies is one of the good ways to learn Chinese.  Thanks!

Same din ako, I learned Chinese since nursery pa, I want to practice again. Puro memorize kasi nung HS eh kaya yan wala masyadong pumasok sa ulo haha

ako din sa cabanatuan confucious school nag-aral from grade 1-grade 6. i remember noon, every grade na na-aadvance ako eh paunti ng paunti ang students.. lol hanggang sa grade 6 yata 4 or 5 students na lang natitira.. usually nathithird honor pa ako kasi nga ang unti ng mga students!! llmaoo

anyway, wala na rin akong natatandaan sa language except yung characters i can still recognize them. nanghihinayang nga ako kasi nung 3rd grade i was already fluent even if i'm not chinese (my parents just sent me there to learn the language). tapos nung high school medyo nakaka-converse pa ng konti.. ngaung matanda na wala na talaga lol.. pa-ni hao ni hao at xie xie na lang..

but i think if i go back to school, i'll probably learn it faster than if i start from scratch since kaya ko namang ipronounce ang different tones ng mga characters properly. and i can still write it down with just one glance. it's just that the words doesn't make sense to me anymore. :/ malaki talaga ang panghihinayang ko na na unlearn ko tong importanteng language na ito.

i wanted to learn mandarin also. husband went to chinese school and he understands some of it. i planned on enrolling my kid to a chinese school before but now that we have decided to homeschool, i guess, mag-aaral kaming lahat ng mandarin. sa ngayon, ini-expose ko lang ang anak ko to youtube videos in mandarin.

i also found betterchinese.com. ayus ba yun? i need a book din kasi with a lesson plan na rin sana para maituro ko ng maayos sa anak ko.

@realmofadreamer: yun bang nakuha mong rosetta stone, pwede rin ba sa preschoolers? or boring na for kids? yun kasi better chinese, may pang preschooler sila e.

sis, sorry nawala na yung realmofadreamer password ko kaya ito na account na gamit ko. Actually, okay yung rosetta stone sa mga bata kasi may mga pictures to help tsaka paulit ulit yun kaya sa tingin ko okay siya. Pero self-study yun sis. I haven't tried betterchinese.com. I bought myself a book from Powerbooks-Abreeza. Yung "250 essential characters..." I forgot how much though. And nagenroll din kasi ako sa isang language teacher in italki.com. I think for 10 sessions, I paid 2thou+.

Sa ngayon, nagtitiis muna ako sa mainland china dramas/movies since I'm also trying to learn Arabic (for work) pero ayoko mawala kasi yung napagaralan ko na (ang hirap kasi magumpisa ulit hehe). Siguro kapag nakakita ako ng language school dito sa Bahrain, mageenroll ako. Kasi talagang mas madali mapagaralan kapag laging nagagamit at lagi naririnig.

I am currently enrolled in a beginners class at Language Internationale. Our laoshi is from mainland China. i'm on my 7th month and so far i am learning naman.

I am still thinking whether i should enroll the intermediate level or not, i'll know after my visit to China, i'm thinking of enrolling there instead of here.

LiL019, ok ba sa Language Internationale? and I'm actually Chinese but can't speak straight Mandarin.  Ok kaya dun kahit mga intermediate level na.. I'm also considering Ateneo Confucius Institute.. if ever, Im going back to learning Mandarin

I enrolled and finished a course on basic-intermediate conversational Mandarin sa chiang kai shek, yung pang Chinese school grads talaga na gusto lang mag refresh. Nabore kasi ako this summer walang magawa. Ayun, may natutunan naman ako konting dagdag pero ganon padin putol putol padin Mandarin ko kasi Fukien din relatives ko magusap, hindi naman Mandarin.

I have friends though, na nanunuod lang ng Korean series tapos after hundreds of episodes eh marunong na sila mag Korean. Although mas madali naman talaga matutunan yung Korean, I think it helps din na manuod ng Chinese movies para marefresh lang yung nalalaman mo about the language kung wala kang kausap. I recommend the ones na historical, magaganda yung story and they talk about tradition and calligraphy a lot, which also has to do with the language.

sa Language Internationale, its kind of expensive. i got mine through an ensogo deal. i think its cheaper sa Ateneo Confucius Institute. my friends are saying na okay din naman. though i really can't tell. pero okay yung sa L.I., madami ako natutunan, like sa tones, reading, pronouncing and forming small sentences as well. I'm still thinking if I should enroll sa Intermediate course or I take in Beijing instead.
