Ako naman, since nagwork ako for 4 solid months iyun kapag naiiwan sa yaya nanonood sila ng TV pero ayaw niya, kaso nung around 6 months siya super gusto na niya yung mga commercials, but I gave up my job since March, 25 days before siya mag 1 YO. Rule na namin na NO TV. pero minsan hindi maiwasan kapag iba nagbabantay like Grannies nanonood ng TV so now alam na niya mag turn ON and OFF ng tv with/without remote control at 1yo 1 mo. Pero nung nagvisit kami sa Pedia niya after her first and nalaman ng pedia niya na kahit Mama/Dada wala pa siyang nasabi iyun super strict na talaga NO TV! :D More on music na kami, as in kahit saan naka classical music kami :) I guess it's never too late to imposed NO TV RULE to my toddler.

^ Agree with your decision.  My kids only got exposed to the tv after they turned 2 years old.  Mahirap na.  The risks far outweigh the benefits, if any, of early tv exposure.

I'm telling them that some study shows that babies who are expose to television can lead to autism. Aba hindi ba naman sila matakot dun :D lalo ngayon, delayed speech pa ng baby ko. Sis, MOM knows best :)

may 2 years old ang hari sa tv namin hehe palaging nasa disney channel kami, kaya nakikilala tuloy namin si dibo the gift dragon, chloe's closet, angelina ballerina etc. pero during night time mutya naman, 100 days to heaven na pala ngayon kasi tapos na ang mutya. hahay pero pag gusto nya then may gusto kaming panoorin, nakakaintindi naman sya pag sinabi naming tulog ang mga disney cartoons, like tulog si mickey and others.hehe

need kong mag download ng mga educational show para yun ang ipapa panuod ko sa pamangkin ko, medyo marunong na kase mag games sa laptop yung bata kaya naisip ko baka maghapon lang mag games yun kase syempre spoiled sa lolo & lola at hayaan lang, kindly advice po mga educational show para mawili at the same time matuto yung pamangkin ko habang nasa house ng parents ko, thanks!

Before I said to myself na iistrict ko ang pagwatch nya ng TV or no TV at all kaya lang mahirap in my case.  I'm a working mom and pag morning either nood cia ng tv (Nickelodeon channel) and in between naglalaro cia ng toys nya while I'm cooking or doing household chores while si yaya naman ay naglalaba.  Pag available either ako or si yaya nilalabas namin cia to play outside the house.  Ang nakakatuwa lang kasi 3 months ago nagstart na ciang magrespond like parang nasagot cia pag nagtatanong sina Dora or sa Umizoomi program.

Dad naman nya bumili ng samsung galaxy tab and naglalaro son ko dun ng games and the best yung kiddie puzzle kasi talagang marunong na cia at nakakabuo na cia.

I know many parents don't feel the tv is that harmful to babies. But at the very least, let's call a spade a spade. Babies are watching a video or a program so that mommy can make dinner or change the laundry. We use the tv as a distraction for our little babies. I am guilty of it too, but the tv just isn't a true learning tool for a three month old. For me, the real issue is not about the content of the television programing when we are talking about infants viewing tv. Instead, I have serious concerns that simply my baby's exposure to television is hampering important brain development. I keep reading article after article linking tv exposure to an increase in ADD and ADHD. According to some research, the tv is overstimulating for the baby and permanently affects the neural pathways in the baby's brain. Down the road, this can lead to shorter attention spans and other learning roadblocks. For me, it is those long terms effects that have me worried. I want to create an environment that fosters my child's ultimate potential.

And I agree that exposure to tv can be important for social interactions with other children. I am sure nobody wants to have the child who gets made fun of by peers because they don't know who Dora is. So when children are preschool age, I think we can begin to talk about balancing tv with other activities and what's educational on tv and how much our child should watch. But for little babies, this is a time when their little brains are just being molded and I just don't see how the overstimulating tv has a place in their lives. This is just my opinion...  ;)

when my daughter is still a baby, mas gusto niya ang mga commercial with songs then after that play na ulit siya.

and even yung salitang bwisit pag nakarinig siya sinasabihan niya yung nagsalita na bad words yun.  :)

parental guidance lang talaga ang kailangan.

My baby watches "Your baby can read" series in a schedule. After sya mag-watch, we turn the TV off. And I can see naman when the TV is on and he's around, he's not interested but if it's the "Your baby can read" clip playing, all eyes sya sa TV. :D 15 minutes lang sya in one episode so I think it's ok, and I can swear by it, effective sya mga sis. My baby is just 8 months old and he already knows how to wave, clap and open his mouth wide whenever you tell him so. :D

I agree with not allowing kids to watch TV! My pedia noted my son being so active and playful at age 1, he affirmed what i learned about no TV til age 2!  and so, we only allow him choiced-slow age appropriate videos for just 30 mins a day! now that's 5, he watches but we monitor.  we dont have cable tv, so less chance of having more shows.  its so hard to implement, esp with the grandparents, but it is workable!

Read more about it at the AAP (american academy of pediatrics) site.  True, that more than the content, its the FOCUS, and the SENSORY-MOTOR development that is the issue.  Most babies seem to learn and enjoy tv and they respond well to it.  But the danger is that their young eyes and brain development, get used to fast paced patterns and the the visual stimulation of TV.  That's the patterns theyd evelop, and the effect may not be in the early stage, but later when they enter school.  Given na yung, inability to focus, concentration, memory, even language and sensory motor development.

in working with the kids, my common question with parents is that, how much tv/video/games is your child exposed to frequently?  kung meron effect sa bigger kids, we can expect that it would have more harm than good to small ones.   ;)

my baby started with dvds like Brainy Baby & Sesame Street. But to my surprise, manang told me na may favorite tv show na daw si marcus yung Baby Tv. I thought joke lang kasi 1 yr pa lang si baby that time. but true enough, pag nalilipat dun sa channel na yun, tawa sya ng tawa at nag sway pa. until now at 16 months yun pa din favorite nya.

tv watching ang isa sa di ko mabantayan kasi most of the time sila lang ni manang sa house. eh si manang mahilig manood ng tv. i can't blame her siguro kasi nabobore since 2 lang sila ni baby sa house pag nasa shop kami ni hubby. ang instruction ko lang sa kanya na wag manood ng harsh na palabas like yung pinapanood nya dati na face to face.
