I’m so proud of my daughter! She had the initiative to ask me to go with her to BPI to open a Jumpstart account. She’s been very active in tutoring younger schoolmates that she actually earns from it a little bit. Ang galing!

Thats good..kami rin growing up my mom naman encouraged us to save up and to open bank accounts. palakihan kami ng savings kaming mga siblings and i'd show off mine to my dad who was equally proud of how much we were able to save at a young age.

When ATMs came out and I'd deposit cash, and the machine would give me the receipt my mom would say whatever you put in there never take it out and that piece of paper and magdadrama ako na ang mahal nung piece pf paper na niluluwa nung machine kaya i kept every transaction and even sa counter i'd get excited just having them update my account.

Encourage your child to save more the learnings and discipline from it go a long way.

Yes, your daughter got it early - congrats!  It isn' t good enough to save these days - you gotta be enterprising too.  Soon, she will learn  how to make her money work for her too.

Hi Sis! I'm 14y/o. Ang galing ng daughter mo Sis.  I'm saving din for my future. Actually hilig ko talaga mag ipon ng pera. Sabi ko nga sa Mama ko, ibukas nya ko ng account eh hehe. May I ask sis kung ilan taon na po yung daughter nyo and anong age sya nagsimula. I know mas maganda talaga kung mas bata magsimula. Gusto ko rin mag open ng account.  Wee. I'm excited. Now im into time deposit naman. SDA sya, earning 200 pesos each month sya.liit lang kasi 100k lang time deposit ko but still...diba

nung bata pa ako pinag-open an din ako ng parents ko ng bank account. syempre sa kanila yung initial deposit tapos sinisave ko nalang yung baon ko. i think i was in grade 3 nun. eto yung isa sa mga naging thankful ako at tinuruan na ako magsave kaya ngayong may asawa na ako. nature ko na na laging may nilalagay sa savings naming mag-asawa. it pays since nako-control talaga yung labas at pasok ng pera.

ang galing naman ng daughter mo sis..ako din, i wanna save for the future..kaso we just bought a car para mas convenient..2nd hand lang naman.plus ikakasal pa kami ni h2b kya for sure liliit pa ang savings namin..hope to save for our house=)

kami ng sister ko sa piggy bank lang pero paramihan din kami ng ipon (or pabigatan ng alkansya) kasi everytime uuwi tatay nmin binibigyan kami ng coins para ipunin hanggang ngayon nadala namin yung habit na mag ipon.. thankful talaga ako sa tatay namin nainstill nya yung ganung values sa amin magkapatid

wow ang galing... i-oopen ko rin ng bank account ang baby ko. And at a young age, we'll teach her na to be enterprising. I am thinking na gagawa kami ng yema and pulburon and will let her sell it...

sa school ng son ko, meron silang savings program in partnership with metrobank.they even have a small metrobank kiosk inside the campus.recently,my 4 yr. old son opened his savings acct. sa school.i filled up the forms (itf for the child) and just opened the minimum amount required coz i want him to learn how his money grows.yung ibang parents palakihan nang deposits which I don't want to follow.You don't teach the child how to handle and value money that way, actually they're making a wrong impression on the child.Easily the child would think that mommy and daddy could just put money on their account and they'll be ok.My plan is to allow my child to deposit money that he has really saved in his piggy bank.In fact, this is encouraged by their school.Since nursery pa lang sila, they allow them to just bring their piggy bank in school for deposit.

Nung bata ako pnag-open ako ng bank acct ni mama junior saving pa yun tas nung first yr college ako winithdraw ko na lahat yung pera (8K). Nagsisi ako kung bakit ko gngwa yun pero at the same time my  natutunan ako mula sa pagkakamali na yun.

It's good na maturuan ang bata mag-ipon. Sadly, hindi ito naturo sa akin. Or should I say talagang magastos lang ako in nature, haha. Medyo nagsisisi nga ako ngayon ko lang na-realize ang kahalagahan ng pag-iipon. Imagine, 30 na ako, ngayon pa lang ako naguumpisa mag ipon. Anyhow, at least na-realize ko di ba? Ngayon, nakakapag-save na ako from my salary at sa sideline.

hello sis, with that being said, saan ang school ng son mo? going back to the topic, kudos to your daughter. it's really wise to teach children to save money out of their own excess "baon". they will learn to prioritize their needs and wants as a first time mom,i'm trying to save for my son too. i must admit, it's quite difficult to budget my salary but still i'm aiming to allot something for him monthly.  this is for his future in the first place...

I started young, thanks to my Ilocano dad   I have been trained to save most of my baon when I was young,
and would still save most of my income now that I have a business.  It's great to be financially independent.

^Kami din, We (my sibs and I) started young! Like prep school. Our parents opened a bank account for us. When we graduated from HS, tsaka lang binigay samin ng parents namin yung bank book. from there natuto kami magsave certain amount of money from our baon when we were college. When we started working, inobliga pa din kami ng parents namin na magbigay sakanila ng kahit magkano from our sweldo. They save that too. So ngayon, while looking for another job, kahit papano may sarili ako pa din ako money.
