On getting a tattoo (Thread 2)

I got two tats already. 1 on the side of my neck,1 on my lower tummy. Ngayon gusto kong patattoo buo kong tummy, dahil punong puno ng stretchmarks after I gave birth. Its almost a year now and andito padin sila. Ang pangit tignan. Gusto ka parin magtwo piece eh. Sayang balingkinitan kong katawan. Haha. (Feeler much)  My question is. May nakatry na ba dito nun? Sorry po tinatamad na kasi ako magbackread since phone lang gamit ko.. Gusto ko malaman ko tolerable yung pain pag tinatuan yung skin na scarred na. Thanks in advance.

thanks for your insights sis glacy_rein.  actually sis, yung cost yung one reason kung bakit nag-request muna ako ng quotation before i finally set the appointment. para kung biglang sabihin na 10k or beyond, eh may time pa ako makapag-save until my target date in April. nahiya rin naman ako agad mag-set ng appointment kasi baka sabihin excited much ako eh April pa naman yung target date ko.  ... kapag may appointment ba sis, may bayad na agad yun? or are the appointment(s) included na dun sa final price na babayaran? nag-PM din ako sa FB page nung artist. i'm thinking of making a follow-up by next week if di pa rin sya mag-reply. i have the impression na hindi naman sya snooty, so hopefully mag-reply sya. thanks again sis!

^^ I hope somebody answers your question sis. I'm also planning to get a tattoo that will cover my torso and some parts of my tummy area, which now has stretch marks due to pregnancy.

why not ask sis directly sa preferred artist mo? ako naman since single pa i-a-avoid ko ang tummy areas para kung magbuntis ako hindi maisisra ang tummy.. and i guess kung wala ka ng plano magbuntis then its totally fine as long as bearable mo ang tattoo pain.

its much better to be honest kesa mabigla tapos short pala mas nakakahiya.
as far as i know kung independent artist yan walang down

^ exactly my point sis. better to be honest kesa naman mapahiya dahil short on cash ako. as far as i know, may sariling shop yung artist, but she is also a guest artist in another tattoo shop. kapag ganun ba, considered independent yun? i'm hoping na sana magreply na sya soon with the quotation. para makapag-dagdag savings na, if needed.

I just wanna share, cant help but felt proud of mu hybby's recent works. All out support ako sa kanya when it comes to his passion sa tattoo. Mejo ok yung pasok ng 2014 to him kase sunod sunod clients nya and grateful ako for that. And sana ako naman next client nya hehe..good luck satin mga sisses happy inkin'!

i finally decided to make an inquiry with my preferred tattoo artist. i accomplished the inquiry form in the website, together with the details of the tattoo. at the end of the inquiry form, i was asked if i want to set an appointment or just ask for a quotation. as my target schedule is still some months from now (i.e. April this year), I just chose "request for a quotation". Ok lang kaya na i asked for a quotation first (to know also around how much would the tattoo cost), before setting an appointment? Or should I set the appointment na agad (to think na April pa naman)? your opinions will be appreciated. TIA!

after a week of waiting, hindi pa rin nagri-reply yung preferred tattoo artist ko about my inquiry/request for quotation.  i know April (this year) pa naman yung target date ko, but i am asking for a quotation para at least i have some time to save in case hindi enough yung current budget ko. ok lang kaya mag-set ng appointment even if April pa ang target date ko to get inked? worried lang kasi ako to set the appointment around March, only to find out that charge will be beyond the budget i have set. haist.. mga sis, ano ba usual "procedure" with your tattoo artist when you plan to get a tattoo? TIA po.

better visit her sis para madali usapan. minsan kasi hindi maiiwasan na baka "nanloloko" lang kaya hindi pinapansin…

drop a visit sis, it wouldn't hurt and better say na i want to ask how much so i can prepare for it. imposible naman kasi na hindi sila makapagbigay ng "qoute"

^ thanks much for your insights sis glacy_rein. i appreciate it sis. i'm still finding my way, as this is my first tattoo, so medyo hindi pa talaga ako sanay sa "kalakaran". at least hindi naman pala nakakahiya magpunta dun sa shop to ask for a quote. i was thinking kasi baka pagtawanan lang ako.

Edited to Add: a friend recommended another tattoo artist - Ali Ferrer. just want to ask if may mga sis ba tayo dito who heard about him? any feedback? TIA.

^why naman pagtawanan. mas maganda ng malinaw ang usapan sis. and tattoo work is not something to be bargained kasi if the artist is credible enough then understandable ang rate UNLESS sa high-grosser ka pupunta na commercialised na.. IMO lang naman yan..

sino ba target artist mo?? ako kay Mia of Chronic Tattoo ako pupunta. magsuswimming lessons kasi ako kaya delayed pa muna ako

^ sis glacy_rein. thanks for the reply. i appreciate it.  i understand sis yung hindi dapat nakikipagtawaran sa tattoo because it is something forever on your skin. kaya nga sis, as early as now (target date is April), i'm planning for it (including the budget) para everything turns out well.

my target artist is Katz Lorenzana. she has her own shop but she is also a guest artist in 55Tinta. sa 55Tinta shop ko sana plan magpagawa kasi mas malapit sa house ko. madali magbyahe pauwi (i.e. less exposure to pawis and dust). may idea ka ba sis if paano nalalaman kung high-grosser or commercialized na yung tattoo artist? thanks much sis for answering my inquiries.

^im no expert sis pagdating dyan pero obvious naman kung sobrang OA nya sumingil tapos maliit lang. sigurado may magaling din na hindi commercialized, yung mga independent shops lang.

ang gulo yata ng sinabe ko haha! pero ayun research ka sis if maraming magandang actual works then go.

I have an update na.  I sent an email directly to the tattoo shop (55Tinta). i also sent my design with the specifics (size, colors, the target location) and even my planned date to have it done. sabi ko sa kanila, since January pa ako trying to get in touch with Katz kaya lang di sya nagri-respond. buti naman nagreply sila. nakita naman siguro nila yung sincerity ko sa email kasi todo explain ako about the design details, and why im planning to have it done sa 55Tinta. i was also honest na rin na i need to know (kahit ballpark figure) how much would it cost so that i can either adjust my budget or adjust my target date. sila na daw ang co-contact dun sa target artist ko - they'll check her availability on the my planned date. if ever na hindi available si Katz on my planned date, im thinking of Dyuntats Depasupil. i've read some good feedback about him sa net.

^oh see sis, you are a client natural lang na iisched and alamin how much it is to be prepared saka para alam nilang hindi tinitipid. buti dumerecho kana din sa 55tinta since under din pala sya dun.

^ oo sis, naglakas loob na ako dumirecho sa 55tinta.  nag-aantay na lang ako ng reply from 55tinta if na-contact na nila si Katz, how much would she charge for the tattoo, and if available sya dun sa planned date ko. if ever na hindi available si Katz on my planned date, ok lang kaya na sabihin ko na kay sir Dyuntats na lang? hindi ko naman sya 2nd choice in terms of artistic abilities. i've seen his works and kaya din naman nya yung style na nakita ko from Katz.. medyo mas comfy lang ako kapag babae yung gagawa sa akin.. ok lang kaya na sabihin ko sa 55tinta na si Dyuntats na lang if ever di available si Katz on that day? salamat nga pala sis sa patience sa pagreply sa mga tanong ko. unti-unti na nagbi-build up yung excitement ko for my first tatt.

ofcourse sis pwede ka mag-second option. Pwede nga na nilagay mo na din na incase hindi available si Katz si Dyuntats na lang.

share mo sis ah kapag finish na. and malaki ba? ang small kasi 1-2hrs kapag big either abot 4hrs up or 2session hehe!

^ ah sige sis.. imention ko na rin na if hindi available si Katz, si Dyuntats na lang. i was thinking kasi baka hindi ethical yung mag-mention ng 2nd option.  size sis is around 3-5 inches sa may batok area. phoenix yung design. sana kayanin na isang session na lang kahit pa 3-4 hrs.. sige sis, balitaan kita.. thanks again!!

Update lang mga sis.. had my initial meet up / discussion with my tattoo artist last weekend. Ok and magaling na kausap si Katz. i just brought with me a downloaded image of my design, and sinabi ko yung mga specifications ko (polynesian style, colors, size). andami nyang inputs and suggestions to improve my initial design. i'm hoping na magiging ok yung rendition nya nung napagusapan naming design. the price she quoted was also reasonable. sana lang wag na tumaas pa depende sa revisions sa design. my excitement is really building up na!!  medyo kinabahan lang ako kasi sabi nya, kakayanin ko daw na 1 session lang (to think na 4-5 inches yung target size).
 
from your experiences mga sis, kapag hindi kinaya ng customer yung pain, pwede ba sya mag-request na gawing 2 sessions na lang? and mas mahal ba kapag umabot ng 2 sessions? thanks in advance po sa replies.
