If you have the skills and experience to do research or VA, then doon ka na because you can demand better paying rates. Mababa ang bayad sa data encoding and you might have problems increasing your rates and getting jobs din later kasi data encoding ang nakalagay sa work history mo.

Okay rin ba to apply for more than 1 job kahit newbie pa lang?

Yes. Apply to as many jobs as you can. 80% of the time hindi magrereply ang mga inapplyan mo.

thanks sis! ang iniisip ko kasi, baka isipin ng employers wala pang work experience pero mataas ang rates and applying na for a more complicated task. do u know sis ano ang usual rates for researchers,VAs?

^ You have a point there. Pero if your portfolio could prove well that you can do research or VA right away, then why not go for them agad.

Pwede mo ring strategy na kumuha ng small jobs related sa VA or research, para nasa mataas kang mga rates.

I'm do not know kung ano ang typical sahod ng VA, as I don't offer that service.

hmmmm, wala pa akong nailagay sa portfolio, I only said that I'm a psychology major and have a good background in research. Ang sakin kasi, data encoding would bore me to death at di ko talaga sya feel kaya I stay away from those jobs kahit newbie pa lang ako. Kaso other employers are looking for those with work experience diba? Sige sis hanap ako ng related sa gusto ko. Ano pa lang services ang naoffer mo na? writer ka rin?

^ No. I do web design. I write too, but for my own blogs lang.

The portfolio is important. It's usually one of the places potential clients would check first.

I suggest making some samples, if you do not have any existing examples you've made as a project in the past. Basta maipakita mo na kaya mo.

While it's true work experience gives you the edge, you have to remember that any successful freelancer started out without any freelance work experience. Which is why your portfolio should speak for itself.

One thing more, even if you decide to go for data encoding jobs, the competition is too stiff. Mahirap makakuha ng first job. Masyado pang marami ang nasa market na yun so you can't really raise rates there.

you're right, lahat naman nagsimula from scratch. i think i would go for those jobs na gusto ko talaga so the motivation is always there. thanks so much for the help

Mga sis, anybody here working at RareJob.. Ask ko lang po, after the phone interview do they tell you details about the training at once.. I just had an interview and hindi ko na maintindihan yung sinabi sa akin about how they will update me.. ang gulo ng noise sa background eh..

Hope somebody here can give me some input.. also, how do you know if you are accepted in the interview or not..do they send email about it?

I'm working as a VA. 1 year na rin ako sa kanya. maganda magpasahod hindi kuripot. yung tenant namin naman, they earned $800 - $1k a month, kakainggit sila. panu kasi tatatlo din client nila. ako kasi iisa lang e. kaya hanggang 350 lang ako. maganda kita sa homebased jobs kung marunong, matiyaga at madiskarte ka lang. hawak mo pa oras mo. ang problema lang sa mga ganyan, hindi sya stable. at pag nawalan ka, minsan medyo matagal ulit magkakaroon sa dami ng ka kompetensya.

True, I've learned black hat spamming techniques and it's true they hire cheap labor to break the captcha.

The same kind of labor is used for even more evil spamming, as the article says.

Mura lang kasi bumili ng tool na pangbreak ng captcha. This is why napakaliit rin ng bayad sa mga gumagawa ng captcha jobs.
