^ It makes sense in preschool and lower grade school, I suppose.  At some point though, maturity and skills level off.  Younger kids eventually catch up.  The age factor and maturity may be more pronounced in the lower grades but may not be as obvious in the higher grades and even in high school and college.  If your kid is one of those who are more advanced, the key is to make sure he performs consistently and is highly motivated throughout his school years.

with my panganay at age 3 nag-aral na nursery, kita naman advanced agad kasi aga mag-aral yun lang tamad mag-aral lalo pag exams na..grade 2 na si ate ngayon, that being said with my 2nd, 7mos old sya now baka pag 5years old ko n start pag-aralin tapos kindermusik pag summer

Thanks for the insights, Marose. Iniisip ko rin, I have friends who were born during the summer months, when technically they'd be the youngest in class, and they all turned out to be responsible, talented people.

My daughter started at an early age of 2+ because I was getting worried since she was not talking yet (she only had a few words). Being an only daughter (with working parents and a husband whose idea of bonding with his daughter is setting her up in front of his laptop and play games), I thought it was best if she goes to school and get the much needed interaction which she was not getting at home. Thankfully, that worked for her and she has been in school ever since. However, she has been delayed then for a couple of months since I could not decide whether to fully move our family last year so she has been flying back and forth between 2 places which affected her studies. Good thing she's now catching up again.

my son started schooling at age 3 sa 2nd quarter around November na sya nag start ng school last year and im proud to say na nakahabol naman sya sa lessons i havent enrolled him earlier at that time kasi nagkataon na wala sya yaya and i have to take care of him. He is in senior nursery now and he is advanced he can count from 1- 100 in  Chinese. Sa una tamad siya mag writing and mag color  but now he traces / colors by himself natakot sa teacher... (hehe)  I can see that there is a vast improvement in his vocabulary. Kulang na lang mag read....

^so paano daw yun sis, anong gagawin kung di pa nila i-accept son mo? my son kasi by the time na mag-grade 1 sya 5 yrs old lang din, he started kasi at 2.8 yo, pero i think ok naman sa school since inaccept naman nila kahit 3 ang cut off age since he passed naman the evaluation/testing..

My son started daycare at 3 years old.  Gusto ko lang sya matuto makipag interact sa mga ibang bata so pagdating nya ng formal schooling, okay na ang social skills nya.

I think there are some private schools that are willing to promote children to a higher level basta makakapasa ng exam nila.  Most public schools wouldn't accept 5 year olds for grade 1 kasi super strict sila sa age.

Certain schools are really strict with age requirement. Sa daughter ko she started 2yo sa toddler class. 3yo Junior Class and now 4yo sa Senior Class. These are vertical classes. So may iba syang classmates ngayon na grade 1 na next year while my daughter will be Kinder 2 sa big school.

Parang umulit sya ng Kinder 2 but that's fine. Plan ko kasi talaga K2 sya ipasok sa big school.

2 or 3yo is the best age specially if you plan for her to have 3 yrs sa preschool/montessori. Depende na lang pag gusto nyo ng Gr1 or K2 ang pasok nya sa big school. Ive seen the benefits of early schooling on my daughter. She can read and write before she turned 4.

If we have a target big school for our kids, the preparation starts at preschool at 3yo or even earlier.

mga sis how do you handle pag ayaw ng bata pumasok as in takot? umiiyak ganyan. dati kasi pinasok ko ang son ko sa childcare/full daycare kasi nawalan kami ng yaya.. overseas kami kaya walang choice . iyak ng iyak sa childcare kaya nagdecide ako ipullout na muna mula nun ayaw na lalo sa school. since bata meron syang stranger anxiety until no 3.5 yrs old na . hirap kami  dalin sa school. ngayon nakaenrol sya sa reading writing class sa mindchamps . umiiyak pa rin sa school pag iiwanan mo pero ok naman sya pag nakaupo rin kami sa class.
