Hi sis momentum: Ok lang naman na she didn't start school last year (before she turned three). No pressure or rush naman. :) I personally believe that the ideal age to start schooling talaga is four years old - and more so dahil naexperience ko sya sa daughter ko. :)

Best if you can enroll your kid na this year, I think other schools naman have year-round enrollments (especially mga progressive schools). If ever naman hindi mo kakayanin talaga enroll  this year, try to 'homeschool' your child - google ka ng mga lessons/exercises tapos kahit one hour lang when you're home na (if you're working), aral-aral kayo na parang classroom setup. :)

Hi sis! thank you sa advice!

2 weeks ago I was already in a panic to enroll her in the nearest school. I went to 2 schools - one is like 3 villages away from us and costs a lot for my budget, although ok naman the school, eclectic yung teaching nila.

And maybe by God's grace, I was able to discover a small school inside our village, I took long speaking to the directness, the school had been open for about 2-3 years now but she added K-2 this year so they are still finishing up expanding the school. They teach the traditional method..they only have from Nursery to K2. Ratio is 10 students to 1 teacher and 1 teacher aid. Same ratio as the expensive school I first visited.

I saw the works of the students and I was impressed that at Nursery they can already write their names and read 3 letter words and vowels. I wasn't able to bring my daughter that afternoon for her to be assessed what level she would be in. But initially she said she might be in Nursery since I told her she can't write yet nor read 3 letter words and vowels. If that was the case, she would be late for grade 1  :-\

Anyway, I brought her there and thank God she passed the assessment and was put to K-1. She couldn't read the 3 letter words nor vowels, everything else she was able to identify (colors, numbers, abc, pictures, etc) but the directness just reassured me that they will help her with this when school starts so that she can be at the same level as the other students. I cannot thank her more for her considering my daughter.

I didn't even know that she gave a free 2 week summer class of arts and all sorts of other things for the children in our village..only for the first 10 who would enroll. Anyway, the prices and payment method are both very affordable and convenient.
They will start school this June 24th. At least I am now at peace that my daughter doesn't have to travel far to go to school for the first time.
Thank you Lord!!!  :) :D

My daughter started this year as nursery. shes 3. because of k to 12, age 4 dapat kinder na. pero we enrolled her last summer to prepare her for school and masanay pumapasok.  Initially nung summer ayaw pa nya paiwan sa room. pero nasanay din siya. Kaya pag dating this June na pasukan, wala na kami adjustment and naiwan ko na agad siya in school.

Our son is 2.5 this July. We are planning on home schooling him. We started teaching him at 1 year and so far ok naman. Pero im checking what are being taught in school, like in nursery and kindergarten levels. parang sayang kasi kung i-enroll sya tapos naturo na din ang ituturo sa kanya?

hi! my daughter started schooling when she was 2.4 y.o not formal school but she learned a lot of things.   Now she is 3.4 y.o we enrolled her in a big school as nursery. She has 6 subjects na agad, naawa ako minsan kasi baka mabigla kaya lang due to this k to 12 we have no choice but to enroll her., according to her teacher nakakasunod naman daw daughter ko kahit 4 years old na mga kasabay nya, and cia ang pinakabata. I wish hinde magsawa baby namin.

yung anak ko nman 3. 1 years old ko sya pinasok..chinese school although di kame chinese. My God talagang nasurprise ako first day of school pagkauwi pinakita sakin ng anak ko may seatwork sila..straight lines and left and right slant lines..tapos 5th day of school niya nagsusulat na ng chinese characters..parang may pinapagaya yung teacher then icocopy nila.Ganun yung school nila ang training parang study talaga..when you're in school you study you play at home.parang they want kids to learn at an early age na kahit mahirap ang gawain tinatapos..may dalawang math book pa nga may science book na din etc to think na nursery pa lang anak ko..nakakatawa nga pag sinusundo ko nag uumintsik ng salita di ko naman naintindihan..sinesearch ko pa sa internet hehe

^^sis kung once a week lang ang prefer mo, I think yung mga playschool like Gymboree or Kindermusik has this arrangement. pero kapag sa mga pre-school talaga sya ipinasok, mostly daily ang classes na talaga, regular schooling na yun.

Sis, advisable ba if I enroll my son sa establishments like Gymboree na once a week lang or pre-school agad? He's turning three na next January kasi. Thanks :)

Hi po, my eldest started schooling at 2yrs 2mos. I just wanted him to become sociable kaya pinasok ko. Downside is, naging sakitin. Pag may sakit classmate, madalas nahahawa. So sa second son ko, I plan to enroll him by next year na lang, he is 3.5 yrs by then na. I will make it sure na kaya na ng katawan nya.

^ The teachers should know how to handle clingy children. Preschool teachers are trained to handle this type of situation and parents should trust them. Based on my observations, the more a parent or caregiver lingers in school or within the eyesight of the child, the more the child becomes clingy.  Yung seremonyas na yan does more harm than good.  Best to make it a clean break.  Of course, a month or so before school actually starts, dapat na-pep talk mo na ang anak mo.  Ideally, kasama siya sa school visits when you are preschool hunting.

^^ my daughter is 2y8m and she started infant community at abba's orchard last june. at the start, kasama si yaya sa loob ng classroom and then yaya would leave when she was busy with something. as soon as she realizes yaya is no longer inside the classroom, she would cry. so for 2 weeks (3x/week lang), the yaya would go with her inside the classroom.

then i spoke with the teacher and asked what we should do so yaya can finally leave her by herself. teacher said cold turkey. just leave her. the first day we did that, she cried for a whole hour eh 2 hours lang ang class. the following day, same pa din. on the 3rd day, she cried na lang when she was looking for her yaya but the teacher would explain to her siguro na she's in school etc. on the 4th day, no more crying. and now, most days when she wakes up, kahit saturday, she says "mommy, let's go to school". di pa niya nag-grasp ang concept ng weekend and weekdays but at least now she looks forward to going na. but on that first week na there was no crying for the entire week, i gave her a reward.

talk to your child. explain things.

talk to the teacher. they are there to help you. you are partners in this. they are trained to handle kids like this.

i am very happy with how my daughter's teacher handled the situation. my daughter has a classmate a bit younger than her. the yaya stays outside the classroom but every 15 minutes or so, she goes inside when the child looks for her. everyday, when i pick up my daughter from school and ask her how school was, the first things she says is "nag-cry si [classmate]" then she goes on to talk about whatever activity they did. but every single day she starts with that sentence. i think that will not change as long as the yaya is there right outside the classroom.

agree with sis marose17, it is definitely a moment of trust yung pag-iwan natin sa mga kiddos natin with the teacher even if they're crying na - mahirap, pero it has to be done. I've seen it personally sa school ng anak ko, first two days lang puede sa loob ng classroom yung parents/guardians, and dun sa second day pa nga, yung parents ng kids na hindi naman na umiiyak pag wala ang parents inside, they were requested to stay outside the classroom na. and then after that, no more parents at all na, even outside the classroom, bawal na kami makita ng kiddos. :) truth is, ako ang nakaramdam ng separation anxiety sa situation na yon, hehe. but I know na it's for our kids' own good naman. My little girl did not have separation anxiety, but some of her classmates did, and sila din, gradually, even if almost cold turkey yung paghiwalay ng parents sa kanila sa class, it really worked! In a week, no more tears na sa class nila. :)

i enrolled my daughter sa playschool here in los banos last month lang when she was 1yr 7mos old... class nya is 2x a week na 3hrs per class.. around 10 kids sila sa class and all are below 3yrs old... meron 1 teacher and 2 teacher aid... nung first day she was doing fine kasi kasama ako the whole time sa loob ng classroom... nung 2nd day di na sya pinasamahan sa loob ng teacher, she cried pero napapatahan naman... nung 3rd and 4th day umiyak pa din sya pero mas konti na... nung 5th day ok na ok na sya no more crying and she seems to enjoy going to school... madami din ako nakita na improvement sa kanya in just 4 weeks of going to school...

Five years ago, I enrolled my son in a toddler school. He was 2yo then. I just opted for a 3x a week schedule instead of 5x
