Most kids start pre-school at 3 y/o.

I enrolled my daughter this school year, she just turned 3 and is under the toddler class.  Last Parent's Teacher's Consultation, her teacher/owner of the school mentioned that they will be advancing her to Nursery class coz she easily gets bored with simple instructions and is now ready to a more complex module. :)

Prior to this school year, I have her attended a month-long summer class in preparation for this SY.

My son just started going to toddler class and he's 2yo.
They meet M-T-TH-F  :) 8:30 - 10:30am.

He loves it & really looks forward to going everyday.
Our goal fro enrolling him is really socialization - he has 2 playmates lang in our village.  both girls pa  ;D

^my kid will be turning 3 this november. i enrolled him sa daycare school lang here in makati. at first he was excited to go to school. then because he got sick he wasnt able to go to school for a week. on the following week, almost a week walang pasok because of the bagyo. the following ulit, nagkaron ng suspension ulit sa class then meeting nga mga parents sa school kaya walang pasok. this monday lang, ayaw na niyang pumasok. noong hinatid ko siya, parang bumalik ulit siya sa first day kasi iyak ng iyak. now he doesn't wanna go to school anymore.

Finally enrolled my son to preschool 4 days ago. Buti tinanggap pa sya. Their first periodical exam will be next week na and exempted sya from taking since he just enrolled. ;D
Mukha naman OK sa school nila, around 10 minutes from our house and they're just 9 in class- 1 teacher and 1 nanny. He likes it so far. :)

3yrs and 2 months. this june lang siya nagenroll.

^^ Sis, napakabata pa ng 3 years old. You should allow him to enjoy his preschool years with lots of educational games and early development manipulatives. No pressure sana pagdating sa academics kasi later on baka lalong maintimidate yan o kaya ay mawalan na nang gana. As most of our sissies here say, let your child learn through play.

If your child's school is very competitive and you think he is not thriving there and enjoying his stay, I think it is not the best fit for your child. Sending him to a tutorial center or giving him a private tutor might improve his grades, but it won't guarantee that it will make him enjoy his preschool days.

Preschool pa lang yan. Your child's performance there cannot predict his future or can serve as a basis of his intellectual capacity. No need to rush. Just let him develop and grow at his own pace.

as long as excited siya pumasok everyday.. happy na ako.

Tama sis, don't feel guilty ako baka kasi mapressure ka bigla and question bakit ganun.

Kids normalize naman when they're 8 years old above. :)

Pero, it would definitely benefit younger ones if may tutok talaga na they learn everyday since sila din mahihirapan when biglang nag advanced ang mga peers nila.

Ganyan nangyari sa anak ko e... bec. I got busy with work. I think he gained his confidence again. :)

tama ba to na 3 y.o lang sya at may grades na ang class nila? wow. pano kaya naiintidihan ng bata ang grades? sorry i cannot imagine lang.

may daughter is 3 din and attending a 2 hour class daily. wala nga silang workbook na pinapadala sa bata. although alam ko na may natutunan naman daughter ko kasi now she can memorize the days of the week. random questions what's after or before a particular day, she can tell. mga ganung bagay lang.

wag ka naman pa pressure sis. if may grades nga at mababa grades ng anak mo, keribels. di nila ilalagay sa resume nila someday yan. you can just encourage your child pa din. go go go lang sya. enjoy enjoy have fun because one day it will be different.

i think kailangan na tayong paapektuhan if the child is already in grade school. kungbaga eto na yung totoong foundation nila.

this is just me. pov ng other mommies may be different of course :)

@tintoink, honestly, I feel so sad when I hear of preschools having a formal grading system for three year old kids.  Imagine at such a young age, they are already expected to perform and compete with their peers and rack up "good" grades?  Jusmiyo, kawawa naman ang mga bata ngayon!

And ano kamo ang basis ng teachers ng anak mo for their grades? The best thing to do is to talk to them para maliwanagan ka kung ano ba ang grading system nila.

Ang dilemma ko ngayon is how I can prevent myself from stressing too much about my children in preschool.  No pressure naman for them kasi walang homework, walang grades, etc., but I know they are learning a lot and socially and behaviorally, they have improved a lot.  However, I have to admit that my sons are kind of behind in some aspects, such as writing.  I do not want to start them on enrichment centers like Galileo and stuff because I feel that they should enjoy these years and most of their time should be spent on free play.  I certainly do not want them to be over-scheduled kids.  God knows I am trying so hard not to be a helicopter parent.  But I also have this nagging doubt that I must do something to make sure my sons are at par with their peers.

Ang concern ko kasi is hindi ko sila matutukan mabuti kapag nasa house kasi I am a working mom.  When I am with them, I try to incorporate learning new stuff in our activities but I also really just want to play with them.  I feel that I am not yet ready to be "teacher mommy" and on the other hand, I also do not want my kids to lag behind other kids.

haha.. i know naman na all parent goes through this kind of situation.

specially ako kahit na ngwork ako fulltime ako parin ang nghahatid sa anak ko sa school. ako naghihintay hanggang lumabas sila. so imagine i get to talk to the other mommies rin naman.
close kami ng mga mommies ng classmates niya. and most of the kids na matatalino sa class or performer talaga when it comes to academics ay ang may mga full time mommy.

oo nga pla im also studying..

so i think malaking factor talga kapag natututukan mo sa pag-aaral ang anak ko.
kasi ako hatid hintay sundo. pero pag dating sa bahay bihis na ko go naman ako sa school ko., pag uwi ko naman saglit lang go naman ako sa work, so limited ang time ko na turuan siya. wala rin namn ibang pwedeng magturo.

and that is where my frustration begins. hindi mo alam kung dapat kaba mgresign o hindi.

and the good thing about them although pagdating sa academics walang levels.
when it comes to contests like arts, coloring, dance they just allow the closer age group to compete.
iba ibang levels.

meron din naman mga "most" awards sa school nila. most diligent active etc.

ang hirap maging babae diba?lol
