Doc lelet sabi ng in-laws ko wag daw papaliguan sa gabi ang bata pag may primary complex kasi lalo daw hihina ang baga ng bata. Totoo po ba yun? 2x ko kasi pinapaliguan si princess ko before siya nagka-PC. Tia!

^ Not true. Walang kinalaman ang pagpapaligo sa gabi sa pagkakaroon ng primary complex.
PC is an infection so you get it kapag na-expose ka sa isang tao na may TB.
Hindi bawal magpaligo sa gabi, kahit na sa babies. We even advise this to our patients with allergies and asthma to make sure they are clean when they go to bed so that the house dust mites will not be attracted to their dead skin materials and the dust on their bodies.

Hi Doc leletmd, yung daughter ko kasi may ubo pero once or twice a day ko lang marinig na umuubo pero maingay,tapos may plema na buo. nailalabas naman niya. no fever at no colds din. need ko pa kaya siya dalhin sa pedia? TIA

^ If it has been going on for more than a week and mahalak ang cough, then, yes, you need to bring your daughter to her pedia for evaluation kasi you need to find out what is causing the cough.

^^ Sis ganyan dati son ko nung 3yo siya. Pina-xray siya pero clear naman. Tapos may ginawa na skin test, similar to injection pero sa upper layer lang ng skin. Pinabalik kami after 1 week, sinukat yung red spot kung saan ginawa yung skin test. Yung measurement mas malaki sa normal red spot kaya nasabi na may Primary Complex.

6 months tumagal ang medication ng anak ko. Super payat siya nuon, bakat ribs nya sya hollow yung tyan.

Buti nga ngayon mataba na siya ng konti eh.

^Ay ganun sis? wala din fever son mo nun? anak ko naman mataba tsaka magana kumain. ino-observe nga namin kasi may day na whole day hindi siya inubo then may araw naman na inuubo tapos may plema at may araw naman na pag umubo wala,ang gulo noh?

Hi doc lelet,

My daughter 8 years old was diagnosed too of pc last year and she was under medication for 6 months.  It was detected not because palagi syang inuubo but because hindi sya tumataba.  Sobrang bumagsak katawan nya considering na hindi naman sobra poor yung appetite nya.  After 6 months of medication she gained weight.  That was January this year, tapos pina check sabi ng pdia ok na kasi maganda response ng medication sa kanya.  Pinagtataka ko lang this June unti unti naman bumabagsak ang katawan nya. Doc lelet is it possible ba na umulit yung pc nya? I ask a pedia hindi na daw kailangan i skin test uli kasi once positive always positive na daw po.  Wala naman syang nirecommend na gamot binigyan lang ng vitamins na pampagana.  Kahit kelan po kasi walang effect sa anak ko yung appetite enhancer. Wala naman sa amin ang nag negative sa xray.  Before kasi may yaya kami na meron nun pero umalis na. If in case po nauulit po ba ang medication ng pc? I am planning to consult her pedia again or perhaps pedia pulmo na.  Nabobother ako sa kapayatan ng anak ko. Hope you can suggest anything to me... TIA

I suggest that you try to look for other causes for the weight loss kasi if last year lang siya nagtreat and there was regular compliance with meds then dapat protected pa siya until now. Useless to repeat the PPD skin test kasi it will stay positive for more than 3 years. Hindi kaya related sa school kaya siya hindi masyadong nag-weight gain? Is she getting enough sleep? June kasi nagstart ang paglose ng weight niya.
I suggest you bring her back to her pedia for check up to check for other causes.

thanks po doc lelet... yes po yan din explanation ng pedia.  Food intake yata talaga ang culprit kase sobrantg konti nya kumain plus kulang pa sa tulog kase nung nag start ang school maaga na sya gumigising tapos pag uwi hindi na makapag nap.  i tried another brand appetite enhancer, no use again... haay ano pa kaya ang ibang appetite vitamins?

doc lelet, if negative po sa PPD need pa po ba ipa xray?

Yes, because there's such a thing as a false negative PPD test. Pwedeng falsely negative ang PPD pero sa chest x-ray, may findings of PC. If the child is able to fulfill 3 out of the 5 criteria for TB, kahit na negative ang PPD, kailangan pa rin magtreat.

Pasensya na, you have to ask your pedia regarding the appetite stimulant.
Personally, I would rather isolate the cause of the problem (weight loss), make diet and activity modifications than put a child on an appetite stimulant.

hi doc lelet ask ko lang po kc po yung baby ko is 9 months lagi po syang may sipon and ubo so pina check up po nmin sya sa feu.. ang sabi po ng doctor kelngan daw po ipa skin test pra malaman kung meron syang primary.. so nag pa skin test naman po kme nag positive po sya sa skin test pero sabi po ng pedia nya kelngan pa din po ipa xray pra isure yung nakuha na po yung result ng x ray ang nakita pong findings is interstitial pneumonia.. mag ka iba po ba yun sa primary complex???

Interstitial pneumonia is different from PC findings on chest x-ray, but there are cases wherein some pedias would treat this as PC since PC or TB may also cause pneumonia. Iba nga lang ang symptoms at mas matindi ang ubo ng TB pneumonia and would not go away with just regular antibiotics.
Chest x-ray findings also have to be correlated clinically so I cannot really just say it's PC or not based on x-ray findings.  Kailangan din makita mismo ang mga x-ray plates. I suggest you bring your baby back to the pedia so the x-ray findings can be correlated with your baby's history and physical examination.

doc lelet, if a child has undergone medication for primary complex, is there a chance that other kids who  are living with that child could still contract primary complex because of him?

Even before treatment, he is not contagious. Children cannot pass on their TB infection to other kids because they carry only very little mycobacterial load and their TB infection is hidden inside the lymph nodes. Only adults can infect children.

doc ang size po ng pdd nya is 6mm.. positive po ba pag ganon?

6 mm for a 9 month old child with BCG vaccination/scar is considered negative, unless there is an actual identified source.
If there is an actual source of TB, a ppd induration > 5mm is considered positive. 
If with BCG, 10 mm induration and above is considered positive.

my son was diganosed with Primary Complex last week. As in nakasulat sa Xray primary complex talaga. Pero yung PPD test niya is negative naman. Nag pa xray kameng lahat sa bahay negative kame . Di ko pa maisip kung san nya puwedeng nakuha yun. Nagbabakasyon din kase sila sa in laws ko kaya lang nahihiya naman akong sabihan sila na mag pa xray lahat.. [textspeak!] gamot ng anak ko is yung Kids Kit 3..medyo ayaw nya lang yung rifampicin kase di daw masarap...sabe ng pedia continue lang yung vitamins nya na Nutroplex pero naisip ko na ichange sa Mosegor para mapadali weight gain..Pihikan kase sa pagkain anak ko...ayaw pa ng gulay...

Yung baby girl ko na 2 years old nagkaroon ng ubo at sipon for 3 days, tapos nagpunta kagad kami ng pedia and ni-resetahan sya ng antibiotic.. the night after ma check up nilagnat.  After 2 days ng lagnat dinala namin sya sa er kasi medyo mataas na ang lagnat umaabot ng 39.  Pagdating sa er pina blood test sya, urine test at pina xray.. sabi ng resident doctor ng er viral infection lang daw ang result ng blood test at okay naman ang xray.. kulang lang daw sa water ang result ng urine test.. the next day, pumunta ulit kami sa hospital, nagulat kami nung nakita namin ang result ng xray nya.. positive nga sa primary complex.. we consulted her pedia, and she recommend to take skin test.. ang question ko, hindi ba sya magkaka-scarring pag malaki na sya at nagamot na ang pc nya? kapapanganak ko lang and may new baby boy is only 15days old... may posibility bang mahawa sya? thanks
