As long as the dose given is based on weight, there should be no problems with regards to overdosing or extending treatment to 3 more months.
Iba ang side effects vs sa pag-extend ng treatment or overdosage. Side effects may occur at any time of treatment (during the 1st 6 months or sa next 3 months) depending on how the body's metabolic systems react to the meds.
Yes, there would be danger of recurrence if hindi mo ituloy ang treatment and hindi pa talaga sila totally cured.
How are they clinically speaking (nawala ba ang symptoms, nagka-weight gain ba?, appetite gain, etc.)? Also nahanap ba ang source of infection nila?

@doc lelet, di n sila masyado inuubo during meds, gain weight as in tumaba sila ng husto. well the source is taking meds kaya pina extend na rin ng pedia [textspeak!] baka magkaron daw uli ng re-infection. Naawa lang [textspeak!] ko dahil ayaw n nila uminom but kailangan pagtiyagaan. . Thanks doc!

hindi po ba masama kung mag pa xray?? kase 1yr old na po baby ko advice po ng pedia nya na mag pa xray kase baka daw my primary complex mag 1mos ng hindi pa rin nawawala ubo at sipon nya..

sabi naman ng tita and mom ko wag ko daw ipa xray kase masama daw kung lagi na xray yung bata..

i need your advice po..

Very minimal lang ang radiation sa x-rays so if 1x or 2x lang naman gagawin in a year, negligible ang effect nito.
If you're trying to rule in/out the presence of PC in your child, you really need to have a chest x-ray done. Kung PPD lang, it will only tell you if the child has been exposed and won't tell you if there's an ongoing infection.

napa xray ko na baby ko at.. primary koch infection ang nakasulat sa result.. 

dapat pala nag pa xray din ako at yung kasama ko sa bahay.. pareho kase kaming may sipon..
mukang samin nahawa si baby.. hay nakakalungkot naman

My bunso was diagnosed with primary complex just now. Kakalungkot naman. Kaya pla siya biglang pumayat, nawalan ng gana kumain and ayaw na mag-milk. Do we need to have our xray done para malaman kung kanino niya nakuha yon? And mayron bang bawal or mga kailangan kainin para sa kanya? Help please.

Doc my 2yr old son sabi may mga kulani siya sa leeg pero chest xray po niya wala naman any negative result as a sign of PC. pero napapansin ko mabilis siya mag accumulate ng phlegm. palagi siya may plema kaya pagpinapakain ko siya usuaaly nagssusuka basta may plema siya. ano po kaya other reason why may mga kulani siya sa leeg. tnx.

Any infection or inflammatory process (wounds, allergies, dental caries/tooth decay) can cause enlargement of lymph nodes in that area. Dapat ma-assess kung may other infection siya (check throat, ears, nose, etc. ) or may allergies siya. Is it phlegm or post nasal drip due to nasal congestion?

It is very important to find the source of the infection. So, yes, all household contacts should have an x-ray done.
Walang bawal kainin. Dapat lang empty stomach pagbigay ng Isoniazid and Rifampicin kaya it is best given first thing in the morning, at least 30 minutes before breakfast.

Same with mommyniuja. I suggest you start looking for the source kasi dapat magamot din ang source ng infection.

pwede pa rin kaya mag pa immunization?? dami pa nya kase kulang..

 thank you po doc. Doc phlegm po kaya lagi po siya nagsusuka pagpinapakain ko because of the phlegm kasi sinusuka din po niya plema niya. At the same time doc medyo inuubo ubo siya with phlegm sounds in his throat. at sa tingin ko nga doc due to allegies kaya di siya nawawalan ng plema and now he is taking alnex reseta po ng doctor or 7days. worried kc ako kasi naging poor appetite na naman niya takot ako baka bumalik pc niya oct last year po nag end meds niya pero sa xray niya ok naman.

@doc lelet yun anak ko nadiagnosed siya na may primary complex balik kami ulit this coming monday para sa skin test...kakalungkot kasi di ko alam kung kanino sya nahawa...di ko akalain magkakaroon sya ng ganon pero ang sintomas niya...sipunin sya at ubuin sya....ngayon nine months na sya...dati kumakain sya ng solid ngyon talaga puro milk na lang...sign din ba yun na may primary complex sya...ngayon ayaw niya ng solid food...patikim tikim lang worried talaga ako....kapag nagundergo na ba sya ng medication magbabago kaya yun kakain na din kaya sya ng solid food...marunong na kasi siyang dumura ng kinakain niya...sana gumaling anak ko...kalungkot super...

Your son can still continue to receive immunizations while receiving treatment for PC.
Isoniazid affects the metabolism of vitamin B6 so better if he is also receiving multivitamins.

Did your son regularly take his medication for PC? Were you able to find the source of his PC and did the source receive treatment as well? If yes to all, then dapat hindi bumalik agad ang PC niya.
I suggest you focus on proper management of his allergies. Baka it's time for him to go and see an allergologist...

For PC, dapat loss of appetite for both solid food and milk. Hindi kaya texture ng food ang problem kaya ayaw niya ng solid food? I suggest you ask your pedia for tips on how to re-introduce solid food.
Also, I suggest that you look for the source of the PC. It is essential that all household contacts be examined and for all of you to have a chest x-ray done. Ang bata pa kasi ng baby mo to have PC...

@leletmd.. doc ano po ba ibig sabihin kapag ptb not ruled out kasi yun yung initial na reading sa xray nya eh.. sabi ng pedia nya positive daw...tama po ba yun balik kami bukas... worried po kasi ako eh...ngayon kumain na sya... ng food...bukas...siguro skin test nya... nine months pa lang yun baby ko

What are the specific chest x-ray findings? Assessment na kasi ang PTB ruled out. It just means that it's possible the x-ray findings are due to TB, pero hindi ito specific. It should still be correlated with clinical findings.
Try to backread. You need to fulfill 3 out of 5 criteria to diagnose TB.

@doc leletmd, balik pa kami sa friday sa pedia...may kaunting bump pero di gnun klaki... hay worried taaga me sana negative yun skin test...di ko talaga din alam kung positive ba o hindi..pag tinitingnan ko yun part nya na may skin test...

If your baby has a bcg scar, then a positive PPD measurement would be 10 mm and up. We measure the induration and not just the red part.
If your baby is found to be positive for PC, I suggest you have everyone in your household tested as soon as possible.

Hi sis leletmd! Sa wakas natapos ko din backread from thread 1. Super salamat sis, ang laking tulong na nabibigay mo sa mommy na katulad ko.
We had our xray done last week and clear naman result namin ng mama ko. Kasi were 5 in our house, my 2 daughters, mama ko, me and si hubby. Kaya i think nakuha ni bunso ko yon sa last yaya niya na matanda and super payat and halos hindi kumakain. Si hubby kasi every year may xray siya sa company.
Nagstart na kame ng kidskit 3 last july 22. And medyo may gana na siya uli kumain, hindi katulad dati. Dati kasi lahat ng veggies kinakain niya pero ngayon pakonti-konti bumabalik na.
Hopefully, maka-recover agad siya....
