any philippines passport holder tried getting a visa? planning on going on a cruise in mexico but i still have to apply for a visa. need some feedbacks and is it easy getting one?

^it's easy getting a mexican visa. don't worry about it. sampung beses na mas mahirap ang mag apply ng US visa heheh

2 years ago pa ang huli kong punta ng mexico. mainly sa cancun kami. hindi ako matandain sa lugar. nasa hotel/beach area lang kami the whole time.

been to mexico(puerto vallarta,  mazatlan,  cabo san lucas, acapulco, ensenada) on a cruise so many times already over the years (6).  it's cheaper bec of no airfare  from LA.

Depends where you are coming from and where in Mexico you want to go.
Remember, some parts of Mexico is dangerous and has high crime rates.

I have been researching about Mexico of late particularly the Quintana Roo/Yucatan region - Riviera Maya, Playa de Carmen, Cozumel etc. since we plan to go this summer. heard that the beach is nice there. will be booking probably an AI and will just visit the Tulum to see the ruins. I read that it is easy to get around using a taxi or a colletcivo.

I used to live in Mexico, particularly in the capital, MX city. We've been to beaches in Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Tijuana, Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Cancun and Playa del Carmen are close to each other, probably 40 minutes away. Playa del Carmen is like Boracay na party beach. Cancun naman more on exclusive beach.  The beaches there are nice, but not to be biased, pero mas maganda pa rin beaches ng Pinas.   The Tulum ruins are spectacular! You should also go to Chichen Itza.  But I would not suggest that you go there on a summer (I realize na medyo late na tong post ko) because the heat is unbearable. Parang Pinas yung init na humid and walang shade. I felt like I was about to faint nun.

But aside from the beaches, go to the other towns like Puebla, San Miguel de Allende,  Guanajuato City and even Mexico City, especially if you like history and mga ruins. I find them more picturesque and interesting than the beaches in MX.

^We really would like to visit the ruins but would have to squeeze in some time to do that, magdala na lang ako ng payong pag sobra mainit. Tulum is near where we plan to stay so maybe we can easily swing that. But what I would like to see is the one at Coba.

I heard of late the seaweed is really bad around the Yucatan kaya medyo we are having second thoughts about going.

^ Hmm tough question, but if you're into quiet beaches, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta for me. Playa del Carmen and Cabo are more of party beaches. Yung Cabo very mabato yung beach and sobrang maalon pero maliit ang shoreline. Tulum is somewhat quiet but also nice. Playa del Carmen reminds me somewhat of Boracay. Puerto Vallarta maganda for whale watching! If you are staying near Tulum, pwede mo na rin visit yung Playa del Carmen para you can hit two beaches (Tulum and Playa) in one go just to compare.

Just got back from Mexico and stayed at  an all inclusive in Tulum. We didn't go to Playa del Carmen though. The beach of the hotel we stayed at was really nice so hindi na kami umalis to go to other beaches. We also went to the Coba ruins which my family enjoyed very much. Then went to a cenote near Coba. It was a small cenote but it was so nice to just wade in it after a hot day. I would like sana to visit Chichen Itza but its a lot farther away, and the time of the tour does not work for us.

I would love to go back to Mexico not just for the beach but to go to visit other interesting places.  The people are very kind. I found that in Cancun, there are a lot of workers that were very mestizo, but in Coba and in the hotel that we stayed at, we found the workers to be very Mayan looking. Our tour guide is a 5th generation Maya.
