Baby monitors

Giving birth in a few weeks, do I need to buy a baby monitor as early as now?  It's a bit expensive and I can't seem to justify the need for now as I will be on leave for a year anyway.  The thing is, it's only me and baby when hubby's away at work.  No yayas, no household help.

Did you get one?  Which brand and model would you recommend?  Thanks.

will the baby have her/his own room na ba agad?  if yes, i would suggest you get one.

even if not, i think you should get one. there are some house works na kailangan mong gawin at hindi naman sa lahat ng oras eh karga mo sya, kelangang naka-monitor ka. unless your house is a condo na dinig mo a little sound  from every corner.

i would suggest the graco brand

Thanks sis.  For the first few (maybe 3) months, she will be staying in the room with us.  After that, when she no longer fits in her bassinet, we'll have to move her to her own room na where her cot is. 

Our house is pretty compact so I'm not worried about being able to hear her during the day.  What I'm worried about is leaving her alone in her room at night.  I mean, it's just next door to us but still, nakaka-praning di ba?  I don't want naman to sleep in her room and leave hubby alone in our room.  That's why I'm thinking if it's worth it to get one as early as now or should I leave it until we feel the need for it?

Btw, not sure if we have Graco here in Australia.  I'm leaning towards Avent and Angelcare (?) as those are the ones mostly recommended here (pero ang mahal!!!).

siguro it's  not a matter of what brand.  as long as it work just fine .

I had one (Avent) and it's not sulit, only used it once.  I wasn't allowed to do house chores for 2 weeks right after giving birth kaya katabi ko lang sa bed si baby lagi. then yun play pen pinalagay ko sa living room para pag nasa kitchen/dining room ako kita ko sya. pag mag pee or poop naman ako dinadala ko sya sa bedroom at dun ako magbabanyo, syempre bukas yun pinto para kita ko sya so technically di talaga nawawala sa paningin ko si baby.
picture out mo muna kung paano yun magiging typical day nyo ni baby at kung sa ibang kwarto sya matutulog saka mo i-gauge if there really is a need for baby monitor. pero sis pag nakasanayan ni baby matulog kasama kayo mahirap sya ihiwalay ng room lalo na pag fall/winter dahil sigurado di maiiwasan laging may cough and cold si baby.

^Sis, yun pa yung isang worry ko.  Kasi by the time mag-winter in June, yun naman ang time na kailangan na namin ilipat si baby sa room niya kasi sabi mga 3 months lang yung bassinet yata magagamit (unless maliit si baby).  Yung cot niya kasi hindi kasya sa room namin

kami ni hubby, we decided na when we have a baby, talagang sa nursery sya matutulog at night... so hindi talaga pwdeng hindi kami bumili ng baby monitor... feeling ko rin necessity sya kasi sobrang paranoid ako, mamaya mawala lang tingin ko sa kanyang sandali, ano na nangyari

^Sis, gusto ko nga sana that she sleeps in her own room na but it would be hard for me also since I want to breastfeed exclusively.  Gusto ko nga sana yung co-sleeper na cot para kadikit talaga ng bed at aabutin ko lang siya pag magb-breastfeed.

But anyway, so I was thinking to keep her in our room until she outgrows her bassinet.  But then she'll probably outgrow it during winter so ayan na naman, naisip ko nakaka-paranoid na baka sobrang lamig sa room, etc.  Hehe sabi nga nila pag nasanay ka, ang dami mong mahahanap na reasons why you would keep baby in your room

Anyway, we've decided we'll just get one when we move bub in her own room (whenever that is!)

super sulit ang baby monitor sa akin... i use safety 1st.. given to me by my ate from the US.. i'm a single mom and wala akong yaya so whenever i have the chance and sleeping si baby, malaking tulong sa akin ang monitor..

We have SCD361 Philips Baby Monitor.. super sulit din nito kasi when my son was a newborn, mahina umiyak.. this made me do my chores while he's sleeping (and I can take a bath properly). This helps specially for those who takes care of their child alone.

When he started crawling, we bought a dlink camera instead. Para we can view him and his nanny while we're out. At night, since it's dark, baby monitor na lang naka on.

HI! I'm giving birth in April but we have already decided that the baby sleeps in his nursery. I'm sure that I will be spending most of my time with him in there anyway, since I will breastfeed him but we still plan to get a Philips BabyPhone (baby monitor with video). I'm also a stay home mom, but we feel it's necessary to get one, for times when I'm not in the same area as him, like when I do chores, etc..

I was kinda excited when hubby promised me that he'd buy me one for our eldest son.. I had one with bear design and lights..i was able to use it pa to our youngest..though its so batt consuming..i guess, its really worth it!

baby monitor is from phillips. bought it in NZ a few years back and was handed down to us by my tita. helpful naman siya. may battteries or pwedeng i-plug din. pag balik ko ng iffice thiugh, id love to get the monitors na skype ready para kahit nasa office, i'll get to see my baby. its around 5k yata, saw it in baby co.
