Sis, my mother was from catanduanes. May reunion kami sa May. Kelan punta niyo? Baka pwede ako makapag tanong tanong kung ano maganda puntahan.

I lived in Catanduanes for 2 months when I was 9 years old.  I have only good memories of the place.  While there are no nice beaches in the immediate Virac area, I do remember one very beautiful white sand beach in a place called Magnesia.  There was also this nice stony riverside called Santo Domingo where people from Virac wold go for spur-of-the-moment excursions.  I'm sure Magnesia is still tourist friendsly.  I've come across people blogging about it.  I'm not sure though if Santo Domingo is still as I remember it.

I remember when we used to play in the Virac cathedral's bell tower (my two older cousins were sacristans).  We'd go up and shout at people below through the small windows.  I could distinctly remember graffitti inside the walls of the bell tower which were written in Spanish.  Or sometimes, we'd go to the sacristy and steal unconsecrated hosts and eat them. (We were kids!). 

There's an older and nicer-looking church in a sleepy town called Bato.  I only got to visit it a few years ago.  It's very picturesque, but the town itself is very eerie as it is so silent.  There's absolutely no noise and you'd feel awkward even just talking at a normal volume.

Hmmmm, I'm not aware of any safety issue with Virac.  Hindi naman siya hotbed ng NPA, and summers are ok naman.  They do get battered in storm season though.

^ medyo kulang ang tanong ko, what I meant is kung safe puntahan baka kasi mahangin masyado. Last week kasi nasa catarman ako, at nacancel yun pabalik ng manila kasi lakas ng ulan.

Oh by the way, I'm not a sis.  ;-)

It was only recently that I discovered Virac has the nickname "Land of the Howling Winds", so maybe you can take that as a clue.

All I know is, summers are generally ok months for Virac.  So I can't vouch for the safety of flights this early in the year.    Sorry if I can't help much.

Natatakot kasi kami tumuloy dahil buwis buhay bangka ride ang naexperience namin sa catarman..cnoconvince ko pa yun friend ko na ituloy namin yun trip. Pinapakita ko yun pics ng mga beach, baka magbago isip.

sis safe puntahan place namin, mbabait tao dun, regarding sa panahon ok siya puntahan by plane or by water. isa s mga sikat n place n puntahan dun ay ang twin rock beach resort, igang virac, catanduanes. from airport mag rent n lang kayo ng tricycle (common trasportation).pero kung gusto mo ng mas exciting n trip sa PURARAN ka pumunta, isa siya s mga hot spot pag dating s surfboarding.

Hi, my father is from Bato, walking distance lang tong church from their old house. True super tahimik ng place nato , pero maigawdd napakaganda, I even got a picture of the church, though hindi ako catholic parang gusto ko pumasok,  tapos yung pic na nakuha ko, pang post card
