kahapon ko lang nabasa ko ang post ni engrsheng. nakakagulat na napaaga ang release ng results. sad to say, hindi nakasama ang pamangkin ko sa forty non-up dependents. doon pa naman daw niya gusto mag aral pagkatapos ng admission test experience niya. hihintayin nalang namin ang postal mail. hehe. congratulations sa mga qualified!

oo nga, sana may reconsideration. mukhang hindi maiiwasan na may mabakanteng slot dahil pwedeng may mga hindi tumuloy sa pag enroll kahit pumasa. may case na bang nakapag aral ang estudyante sa upis through reconsideration? parang silent kasi sila about this?

Hi mga sis,

I read the whole thread, its a good thing kasi it helped me a lot. Mag-eenroll kasi daughter ko sa UP KDCC sa June, I am also eyeing UPIS pag Grade 1 na sya. Buti na lang may 2 years pa kami to prepare (and to contemplate na rin). Basta kung ano best para sa daughter ko.

My son is a nursery student right now. He'll be turning 4 this August. pwede na kaya siya for UPIS kinder next school year? How early are we going to prepare for this? like yung registration, exams,etc? thanks!

^ we have quarterly modules (the ones bound in brown folder) for English, Filipino, Health, Math (meron pa ba?).

Books are needed (not required naman to own, pwede borrow pero most teachers would rather na you have your own so they collect orders, wala namang patong from the bookstore price) for subjects like social studies, geometry, biology, chem, physics, algebra, sometimes also sa Filipino, English, etc.

i wasn't much of a library person -- during my time the library was for remedial lessons and mini theses. and of course movies at the AV room.

I studied here from kinder to grade 10, was lucky enough to get in kahit non-UP employees ang parents ko. Hopefully swertihin rin ang baby ko makapasok dito a few years from now

Mga moms, totoo ba na kapag di marunong mag filipino incoming kinder hindi na makakapasa sa assessment or hindi na nila ic-consider?

Kung Tagalog ang medium of instruction, I guess required talaga yun. It just wouldn't be a good fit kung di nila maiintindihan teachers nila. Pero I assisted the entrance exams before and may mga inglisera/ro naman ako nakitang mga kids, as long as may basic na pag intindi, I guess mag susurvive naman sila and doon na rin sila matututo lalo ng Tagalog.

On the modules, keri naman. Later in life, it teaches you to be resourceful, be comfortable in using the library, etc. Nag p-prescribe din naman minsan ng books ang teachers, that you can buy, copy, borrow if you like.

Dagdag lang, UPIS is a non-sectarian school so they don't have values ed/religion classes or any activity related to religions (though before when I was in hs there, students are not prohibited from forming clubs naman. comparative religion is taught as part of english and social studies if I remember right). This might matter to some parents so consider ninyo rin. But for me, this is my preference naman.

Thanks sis, last na lang, totoo din ba na every monday walang pasok, then test at the end of the school day? So bale 4x ang test nila in a week, monday lang ang pahinga? Di ba mab-burn out ang bata, or parang review test lang kung ano yung topic nila for that day?
