Hi gulaysk! I'm new here and I'm looking for feedbacks sa mga schools para sa niece ko. Mag grade 1 na siya. I hear good things about Raya but how much ang tuition fee sa Raya?

Passed my exam here. One of the lucky 40! i remember the exam, we were made to socialize (ie play simon says) answer a booklet of questions (like, choose mo kung alin yung school, alin ang gamit ng girls and boys, color by numbers) tapos may interview part din. I also remember having to choose between different toys, parang blocks ata pinili ko nun hehe. But hey this was sooo long ago!

my son is also taking the entrance exam this week.. asked him what he will choose.. walang ka abog abog... room with toys... his cousin is currently enrolled at upis... any other suggestions? magtake din siya sa lourdes q.c., mater carmelli, claret and notre dame...

tapos na ang exam ng anak ko. when i asked her kung anong ginawa nya. naglaro daw sya ng lutulutuan! sigh.. maghahanap na ako ng ibang mapapasukan ng anak ko ayaw ko na umasa.

The results were released yesterday.  Congratulations to the moms of those kids who passed the UPIS KAT 2012.  I'm one of the proud mommies!  My daughter made it!

I was suddenly tempted to apply pa naman sa UP as an employee para sa education assistance benefit..pero kahit lamang ang ratio ng UP dependents sa hindi, ang liit pa din pala ng chance! haha. As in 0 tuition dito mga sis right? PTA lang siguro? yung kasi habol ko.. para isave nalang yung supposedly tuition niya at ilaan sa ibang activities to hone her talents

Yup 100 tapos only 40 slots are given to non-UP dependents.  Di naman totally 0 ang tuition fee.  Meron pa ring tuition fee 5+ per sem so almost 11K din for one school year.  But of course if we're going to compare it to other private schools, you'll definitely save a lot.  Pareho tayo ng gusto.  To be able to save money and use it for co-curricular activities.  Mahal pa man din ng mga lessons nowadays.

My daughter has been Studying pre-school in MSA, a progressive school in our village before she took the entrance exam.  Supposedly incoming grade 1 na daughter ko kaso because of the age requirement ng UP, she has to repeat Kinder since she just turned 6 recently.   Most of her classmates in UP came from UP CDC and those that came from private schools also has a progressive style of teaching.

One important thing in preparing your child, your child has to know how to read already.  Even though it's Kinder level, the curriculum that they are using are already at par with the Grade 1 curriculum of some schools.

UP CDC, MSA and other progressive schools... Plus able to read na. As in read instructions ng exams?
How about sa numbers? Ano na dapat kaya nilang icount? Dapat ba may arithmetic na?

Since I'm working full time, mukhang kailangan ienroll ko sya sa magandand progressive school, kasi hindi ko sya matututukan sa pag-aaral..

@Cadd,  I would have to agree that investing in a good progressive school will have a big impact on your child's learning development and study habits.  The good thing about progressive school kasi is the low teacher to student ratio tapos 2 teachers pa nagha-handle per class. 

I'm not sure what type of exam are given to the applicants.  When I asked my daughter how was the exam, she told me she was asked to do a lot of things and answer situational questions. 

Yung reading naman and simple arithmetic,  your child should be equipped to survive in class and not be left out.  I've noticed kasi that during the 1st day orientation, all of my daughter's classmates can read and work on their own.

ako naman, mali yung school na pinasukan ko sa anak ko. it is just a community school pero there are lots of these na okay naman. Kaso this one is not good so kelangan kong tutukan ang anak ko. She is turning 5 on December at she can read na rin. She can also add and subtract simple numbers. Hindi pa to tinuturo sa school nila ngayon so I really need to practice her all these things. Ang habol ko nalang sa school nila ay socialization, pagsunod niya sa instructions at pagsagot ng mga quizes and exams.

^salamat sis, we really need that... I am a single mom so laking tulong kung makapasok daughter ko sa UPIS next year. So far, isa sa top students sa class anak ko pero I really feel na late o mabagal ang topics nila. I hope I can teach her all the things she needed to know for the KAT at maapply nga din niya sana.
Btw sis, buti walang ka-tie yung anak mo sa score niya? Ang sakit nga sa loob pag pasado anak pero hindi nakapasok dahil maraming ka-tie sa score at hindi nabunot. So kelangan talaga super taas ng score!
