for me, "quality" never equated with "expensive" that's why if we look hard enough, we'll find great suppliers at half the cost of more well-known suppliers

enjoy your wedding preps!

That's true Sis. Yung iba 2x a year.

Personally, manghihinayang akong gumastos beyond our budget kahit once in a lifetime event pa ang wedding.

Happy preps!

sis sakura30. same tayo. mejo nainsecure din ako. kasi nung nagsscout ako ng HMUA, may mga nakabudget sa kanila na mga round 20k++ eh ako, napilitan lang mag HMUA kasi ininsist ni hubby to boost my confidence daw. dapat ako nalang mag aayos sa sarili ko eh... tapos yung mga p/v na mga nasa 50k pataas... tapos 20k+ for L/S, eh ako wala nun... naloka talaga ko. haha! kala ko di ko mapupull off yung budget ko. in the end tyaga lang talaga sa pag hahanap ng bang for the buck suppliers! :)

Sis sakura30 and smile22.. Same same!! Ahahaha.

Hindi tipong fiesta na invite all you can, kinabukasan kaskas ang visa mastercard at amex!! Big ouch!  :D

Sis sakura and smile, i felt the same :) pero now na unti unti ng nagmamaterialize yung mga wedding plans namin, mas desidido akong babaan pa ang budget namin since i know kaya naman.

so far ang pinakasplurge pa lang namin is yung venue. :)

sis maxim04 and sis simang tama. what matters is in the end is the marriage not the wedding. i remember my cousin, he spent 500k ata on their wedding. less than a year into the marriage, he found out the wife is cheating on him. so boom! goodbye 500k. hello 300k for the annulment fee. tsk.

i think as long as you are happy with the planning and the execution of the wedding, its ok na. it doesnt have to be perfect. my wedding sound system at the church was sort of sablay, mejo hindi naiplay yung mga liturgical songs. but it didnt matter, because i was intently listening to an awesome homily of the awesome priest right in front of me. and yung priest game sya kumanta kanta. sya pa ang nagsstart ng song. so yun. siguro just make sure na whatever budget we have, stick with it. mapagkakasya't mapagkakasya naman eh.

and on the day itself and mapapayo ko lang, LET GO and LET GOD. :)

i agree with what everyone said especially about going into debt because of the wedding - that is the worst kind of debt to have.

very true on the execution being key and learning to let go of suppliers we cannot have. i love weddings and jason magbanua was the very first wedding videographer i knew so i dreamt of getting him for my wedding. now that i'm preparing for my actual wedding, i had to let that dream go because his fee can already pay for my caterer, venue, church, and a few other miscellaneous expenses. good thing my friend is really a videographer and well-known in our city plus his fee is only a fraction of the cost ;)

When I see myself getting carried away and deviating from our vision of having a simple wedding, I go back to this thread and re-read the entries. Doing so gets me back on track.

For me and my fiance, it's not really about not going into debt because of the wedding, but more of being wise spenders. In every aspect of the wedding, we always think about what we really want, and not what's popular nowadays. We're still spending a hefty sum for our wedding but it doesn't mean it's not simple.

^could not agree more mga sis! Dapat walang utang at may ititira pa for your family's future. Kami ni h2b todo tipid ngayon. Weekend lang kasi kami nagkikita. Instead na magdate at kumain sa kung saan-saan, nagstay na lang kami sa house nya or namen and pinaplan na lang namin yung wedding. Mas tipid and mas nakakabonding pa namin yung family ng isat isa.

My wedding is this april na and dahil tipid mode talaga kami kaya DIY talaga halos lahat. good thing i was able to book for this GT sis na emcee and OTD na rin. less than 10k lang ang rate nya at very accomodating. natuwa lang ako kasi ang mura ng rate at ang bait nya while halos lahat ng napagtanungan kong OTD alng eh umaabot ng more than 10k.

Hahaha..

Agree sa utang, ayaw namin mangutang just for the sake na mapagbigyan lahat ng gusto ng mga nakapaligid sa amin.

I agree with all of you here, going into debt should really not be an option when wedding planning! Jusko :p I hope each couple spends only within what they have. Actually, i'd say you shouldn't even spend half your total net worth on wedding expenses kasi andami pang other expenses to pay for---- house, honeymoon, car/s (if you need it for everyday), emergencies, and what if magka-baby kayo agad dba? Need money for that too. So just have the beautiful wedding within your means. Kesa maging pretentious na bongga yung wedding diba pero after naman e nagtitipid to the max.

Na-curious tuloy ako, what percentage of your total net worth do you guys spend on the wedding? :) Survey tayo :)
